Re: FIFA 13

Thanks for the impressions. My copy comes in tomorrow, so it's good to get some info on this game since there are no site reviews or hardly any info at all. From reading some other forums, people with the game in hand are saying pretty much the same thing as you say. Unfortunately it looks like ...

Re: FIFA 13

I picked up the Vita version of FIFA 13 at lunch. Just wanted to share my impressions in case anyone was interested in the VITA version.

I played one 5 minute half - Chelsea v. Arsenal. Take these impressions with a grain of salt as I just finished a half so I could give some quick impressions.

It ...

I don't post much, but this game is absolute digital crack. I have already logged 20+ hours on the game. Last night, my wife said I may need to attend gamers annonymous. :) It takes the formula of puzzle quest and improves on it in every way. Easily my DS game of the year.

Yeah, it's nuts. I was ...

The PS3 version has in-game saves for season and franchise games, just not exhibition games. Huge feature for me this year on the PS3. I agree though about the PSP - sleep mode worked fine the last couple of years.

Here are my PSP impressions I previously posted on OS:

Just played my first game and here is my take:

I agree that not much has changed since last year's version, but what has changed is worth my $40. First and foremost, the framerate has been fixed! I quit playing 07 after a few weeks because of ...

Brando,

I ignore the come bets. Play the pass line with the minimum bet. When the point is established, back up your passline bet with the odds. For example, if it is a $10 minimum table, you can back up your pass line bet with $50 if it is 5 times odds. You don't have to do that, but you can. At ...

Now whether they will be rescued is a whole other question to be answered and we have to wait until February 2008 to see it. :x I know that some will get rescued eventually (Jack and Kate in the falsh forward), but it likely won't happen until Season 6.

I don't agree with that thought. I see the ...

I kept thinking the same thing as you - "Why didn't he just shut that door and him and Desmond swim out and get back to the canoe?" But Desmond's vision was that Charlie had to die in order for everyone to be rescued. So, Charlie sacrificed himself for everyone else. Now whether they will be rescued ...

The PSP/PS2 transfer works flawlessly. It's a really nice feature. I am not sure about updated PSP rosters, but I just used updated PS2 rosters and then imported them to the PSP using the system link. I think it is the best sports game on the PSP along with the Show. If you like current gen Madden ...

Is it true that the in game menu is severly limited? I heard you cannot adjust the camera, the settings, or even change (not pull) your goalie once you are in game. I was really looking forward to this game, but if this is true, this is a pretty big disappointment.

Cool, I'll keep an eye out for Megapunch! I am interested in becomming part owner of some horses and the West Point bunch do seem like a good group. I listen to "At the Races and Beyond" on Sirius and they interview Terry Finley from WP quite a bit.

Why I said Barbaro may have been the best chance in a while is because he was built to win all three Triple Crown races.

He was (I say "was" because he's done racing obviously) a strong, speedy horse that could run for days. He never tires.

Smarty and alot of these "so close" thoroughbreds ...

Gallop Racer 2006

I know some of you had some interest in the Breeder's Cup horse racing game last year (which ended up being pretty bad in the long run). The Gallop Racer series is always of top quality. This preview is very positive and the game appears to be another solid edition to the franchise:

Bill, everything you said is pretty spot on. As I mentioned, the 2 year-olds racing in January is crap as is the 1 1/4 distance. The silk designs are pretty limited. The fact that there are no replays is really bad. How hard could it have been to put them in? You are right about not being able to go ...

Sorry to keep bombarding with impressions, but I had a very positive experience playing last night. In year 2 of my career, I have actually been losing more than winning. I lost a few tightly contested stretch battles and got blown away in some other races. Maybe the ease of year 1 was a fluke. It's ...

Maybe you should take a closer look at the shark, did you Tivo it? The shark means more then just a shark.

I figured that the shark meant more, and I half expected a giant squid to be the attacker. I only have it copied onto a DVD and for some reason my dad put the recorder on ELP so it's not the ...

Drag:

Sorry to bombard you with questions, but is this game easy because you're a "horse racing guy" or is it just plain easy, period? In other words, could a horse racing chimp like me still win easily or take a claimer and beat Man O'War?

Thanks,
PK

That's OK, glad I can answer questions ...

No difficulty settings. This is the biggest drawback of the game. If it were more challenging, I would like it a lot more.

Saratoga and Santa Anita are two of the most beautiful tracks in the US. I was at the Saratoga meet last fall (my dad had a horse break his maiden there) and we also went to the yearling sale. That was a rush.

Of course the king of beauty was Hialeah until the area went to hell and the track ...

A few more impressions:

Played for a few more hours last night. And I had a few more observations. It is WAY to easy to win races with frontrunners and stalkers. I only lost 2 out of 12 races last night. I literally blew away the field a few times. The cool thing is if you go balls out with your ...

Excellent impressions, Drag. As someone who appreciates horse racing but doesn't follow it that closely other than the Triple Crown, this sounds like a fun, fresh alternative to my steady diet of motor racing games.

And it's $20, as you said!

You appear to be a big-time horse racing fan, so I ...
