Even worse, that's probably the last time you see C.C. in a Brewers uniform.

Yeah, I figure next year will be a drop off from this one. We'll likely lose Sheets (good riddance), Sabathia, Gagne (Good riddance #2), Cameron, and Durham.

My hope is that after his bitter performance last night, C.C. will come back to Milwaukee to make amends. Hey, I can hope can't I?

Well, it's working.. keep it up! lol...

I can't believe all the errors.. 4!?! wow.....

Manny is un-freaking believeable. I got into an argument yesterday when I told my friends if I was a baseball writer, Manny is my NL MVP.. the guy has single handedly propelled this team since his arrival.

No respect for the Phils in this thread!

I was at the game last night. Good fun. I hope the Phils can close this one out and not have to go through a game 5 nailbiter back in Philly.

So help me, this grieving Mets fan likes watching the Cubs lose, the Dodgers win, and the Rays & Red Sox taking it to their less interesting opponents. The Phillies, on the other hand... it's hard to see them excel. I hope that crushing disappointment finds them before they reach their goal.

We're always prepared for that in Philadelphia. In fact, I think many Philadelphians prefer it.

I hate rooting for the AL but if the Dodgers manage to make it in I'm going to be screaming for their heads. They just look so unbeatable and confident playing in away against the cubs. Who would've thought two months ago this would've been the case??? Never thought Manny could bug me this bad but oh how wrong I was.
Never much of a Manny fan either, but after getting a big dose of him in L.A., he makes hitting look too easy. It's like: swing the bat - hit a homerun - with a "why doesn't everyone do this?" look on his face...

I liked how he smiled before he jacked that one last night. scary talent. imagine if he ACTUALLY tried???

That's the thing, Manny seems to be trying in LA, which is great for them!

Food for thought for those of you anointing the Dodgers the NL Champs already - The Phightin' Phils took 4 of 4 from them in their last series. This of course won't matter if neither of them don't finish off their current opponents. Bottom line, I believe the Phils can beat either the Cubs or the Dodgers. Lets just beat the Brewers one more before any BIG TALK.

Who anointed the Dodgers anything? It's not gonna matter anyway, since whatever NL team goes is gonna get annihilated by the AL team, regardless of who it is...well maybe not the White Sox.

Yep. He raved about the Phillies 1-2 starters (Hamels/Myers) and how nasty they were.

I was so optimistic about the cubs going into these playoffs, this has been just a weak display. All series they've been swinging early in the count and not taking pitches, finally in an elimination game, they start getting patient and Kuroda has been throwing 1st pitch fastball all night. These guys have executed all year long and all of a sudden they seem like they can't play baseball. This has been very disappointing. :(

Relax. Brewers played a solid game. Moyer struggled and the Brewers took advantage.

Pathetic and very sad performance by the Cubs.

This is another Lou Pineilla playoff failure. He's a great regular season manager, but this is the second time he's gone into the playoffs with the best record in his league and failed to reach the world series.

The players on this team have absolutely no heart and no leadership. Soriano at best is just a good mistake pitch hitter. The story of this series was the dodgers top of the lineup consistently getting on base and scoring and Soriano swinging at pitches 2 feet out of the strike zone.

I can't imagine a baseball-related sentence that I could disagree with more.

First of all, a quick fact. The Cubs become the ninth team in the last 14 seasons to lead their league in victories and not advance past the first round. This isn't exactly Halley's comet.

Lou wasn't out there flailing away. It's not his fault the entire team forgot how to catch the ball in Game 2 or that Dempster walked the ballpark in Game 1.

It was 3 awful games, made awful by the incredibly poor play of the Cubs. No combination of the guys on that roster would've made a lick of difference. And please don't tell me he didn't have them motivated or "ready to play." If you're a professional and you need to be told to play hard in the post-season you're a loser.

3 awful games. The Cubs had many stretches where they played that bad or worse during the season, and that was generally against competition not nearly as good as the Dodgers are playing right now and under much less pressure.

It's not an excuse. Nobody. Nobody is madder than I am and more upset that they lost. But this is the nature of post-season baseball, especially in these God-forsaken shitty, 5-game series.

Blame the players who didn't hit, pitched poorly and didn't field. Don't blame the poor old bastard who had to sit there and watch it from the top step! LOL

Rob it was either you or Lou, and since Lou's 0-6 over the last 2years I figured the blame should go with him

Ahhh, I woke up this morning to see the Cubs got swept. Now, I have this stupid ol' grin on my face that I think is going to last all day long!!!!

Such a shame after a great great season. Unfortunately, Cubs fans will only remember how this one ended.

Side note: I'm very happy to see Jimmy Ballgame not get a W.S. rings with the the Cubbies.

From Bernie Mikalsz from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

But Lou is building his own history of stunning postseason failures.

True, his 1990 Cincinnati Reds defeated La Russa’s mighty Oakland A’s in a four-game World Series sweep. But since that triumph, Piniella’s postseason record is 15-25.

Not only is Piniella 0-6 as the Cubs’ manager in the posteason, but he’s lost eight straight postseason games and 10 of his last 11.

Piniella’s 2001 Seattle Mariners won 116 games in the regular season, only to get ejected in five games by the Yankees in the ‘01 ALCS. And during Piniella’s eight-game postseason losing streak, his teams have scored only 16 runs.

I can never understand why the LDS is a 5-game series. It makes the playoffs that much more of a crapshoot, and would adding two more games to the postseason make it that much longer?
