"The wife's feet and hands were bound and she was asphyxiated, not beaten to death," said a statement posted on the company's Web site. "By the account of the authorities, there were substantial periods of time between the death of the wife and the death of the son, again suggesting deliberate thought, not rage."

Investigators found the bodies of Nancy and Daniel Benoit with Bibles placed next to them, authorities have said. "The presence of a Bible by each is also not an act of rage," said the WWE.

Whether steroids played a part or not, why the hell would you come out and DEFEND roids at this moment. What's the upside???????
The WWE article was not defending the use of steroids. The article was posted as a response to the media who have jumped all over the steroid angle. The WWE is contending that steroids did not play a role in the murder. The WWE is jumping to conclusions that it did not play a role, others are jumping to conclusions that it did.

Was steroids an influence on what happened? Maybe, I don't really know. You can speculate just about anything.

Right-o, but what's the vested interest in roids by WWE? It almost like they're acknowledging fake wrestling & roids go hand-in-hand. It's just odd to have the WWE analyzing the dead bodies & saying "see, it can't be roids". Just odd.

Something tells me the WWE has a lot of "how did he acquire HGH?" questions coming their way.

Gross was the whole granny giving birth to hand angle.
Tacky was the McMahon vs God angle

They've done a lot of sleazy stuff lately, but in this case I think they've handled things about as well as they possibly could. They are not defending steroids. The statement makes sense. If if was soley a case of 'roid rage, he wouldn't have spent the entire weekend slowly killing off his family and himself. *Maybe* steroids had an affect on the initial incident, but up to this point there is nothing to lead us to believe that.

Looking back, the tribute show was a bad idea. However, at the time of the show, no one knew what had happened, and they chose to honor a fallen brother, much like they've done in the past with Owen and Eddie. Had they known he was a murderer at the time, the tribute show would never have happened. They've taken down all references to that scum from their website, even merchandise. Last night was the last time you'll hear his name mentioned on WWE TV.

If there is any good to come of this, I hope it wakes the WWE up to the fact that they're employees are at risk given the conditions of their jobs (abuse on their bodies, constant travel) and does more to ensure that the weekly death notices for wrestlers stops. I also hope it gets them to come up with more tasteful storylines than "Who killed Mr. McMahon".

Open Question: What's the attraction in watching/following WWE? I just do not get why adults watch it or follow it with any passion.

I promise not to bash anyone's opinions, just want to understand cuz it's beyond me.

BTW...you guys who are talking growth hormone...that stuff is actually prescribed to young boys who are way behind in their growth. My little brother had to inject himself daily for years because he was undersized. It is legit and perfectly legal. Just and FYI.

Why do people collect stamps? Why do people Bowl? What do they watch Reality TV and shows like Desperate Housewives?

People get enjoyment out of different forms of entertainment and while I may not enjoy what they do, who am I too question or to "try and get it" so to speak.

When I did watch wrestling if was for the clasic good guy vs bad guy stuff and frankly for the shear comedy of it. I stopped watching when WCW disappeared and the storylines became more trashy for lack of a better word.

I know why people collect stamps or bowl. So, if it's the sheer comedy of it, I guess I get that. I watch my share of cheesy TV, but would I buy $200tickets to see "Flavor of Love" live at Staples (or pay per view)?? Probably not. (but the more I think of it, that would be awesome)

I would consider myself a casual fan. I occasionally watch parts of RAW when it's on. I have never ordered a PPV event and never will. I don't like it as much as I used to. I watched it much more in the late 90's and early 00's when the WCW and WWF/E was was at it's peak. I enjoyed it much more when it was a single brand instead of the superstars all split amongst three shows.

Why did/do I like it. Not really sure, it amuses me I suppose. Call it a guilty pleasure if you wish. It is what it is, a glorified carnival side show and a redneck soap opera. But when they get a good feud or a good match going, I like it.

Don't know why people create such a fuss over wrestling as opposed to something like pro football. I find the physical build and personalities of the participants to be pretty similar (not that it's necessarily a good thing).

Damn...and his son was mentally retarded and the parents argued about how to take care of him. This dude looks worse and worse everyday. Just goes to show how we really don't know sports figures.
