Thanks for the glowing praise on the ACC utility, JC -- I like it a lot myself. Without the ACC function, RD2 feels VERY "flat" and arcade-like to me, but with the ACC enabled, it's an entirely different beast. Every time I run at Bathurst, I have to pat myself on the back!

BTW, how do I get your Active Cockpit mod to work in the full game? Do I simply just copy the exe file to the TOCA2 utility folder and run it from there? The one that worked with the demo also works with the full game, right?

Interesting -- I drive with my controller linearlity in GPL set to around 50% (middle of the scale), so it makes sense that the fully-linear "Wheel" setting in RD2 doesn't feel right to me.

BTW, I hope you don't mind, JC, but I used your post to query RFT (Rich Tysoe of Codemasters) on the RaceSim ...

The first patch (due in a few weeks, I think?) will add in mirrors, PLUS the ability to save replays (both confirmed for the PC-only; not for the X-Box, I'm afraid).

There is a utility that will let you set the Career Mode to Pro-Sim, vary the race lengths in Career Mode, and alter the AI ...

One tip: Make sure you try both the "Wheel" and "Pad" settings, even if you're using a wheel . . . "Pad" works better for me with my TSW2, and others have reported similar findings. Basically, "Wheel" is FULL-LINEAR, and "Pad" is a non-linear, somewhat speed-sensitive setting. I tend to prefer non ...

Over on the RaceSim Central forums, McGonigle modified the Formula Ford view for the multiplayer demo that was slightly improved over the "cowl view" that currently serves as an in-car view for the Formula Fords. This was better, but not quite "right," but it inspired me to play around a bit more ...

PS - Did your wheel setup changes allow you to race the trucks/ovals using pro-sim or is it still basically impossible to keep them from spinning?

Not really, unfortunately -- the trucks are easier to handle in the turns now, but I still can't believe how easy it is to lose control while going ...

If you are a wheel user and you have trouble the twitchiness using the fully-linear "Wheel" setting in RD2, but you find that the non-linear "Pad" setting doesn't quite give you the necessary controller responsiveness that you're used to in other sims, then I have a possible solution -- I've used ...

I think I've only played online in the demo so far -- I tried hosting a Formula Ford Pro-Sim race the night before last, but there were no takers so I just ran online by myself . . . dunno if that generated any ratings for me or not.

My DSL connection is great (SBC Yahoo!) -- slowish uploads (256k) but fast downloads (1.5Mb). I can host 8 - 11 folks in RD2 multiplayer, but only about 3 people in GPL.

Love my DSL, though, and I hate cable companies (which is why I use DISH Network for my TV provider!).

Very easy fix, Don -- I was wrong about needing iRipper to open any *.big files. Here's the scoop:

Just open "mods.ini" with notpad and change the last line to read:

CareerProSim=On

The "mods.ini" file is located in the ..\GameData\frontend folder, NOT in the "globfil1.big" file.

Enjoy ...

Make sure you DON'T get a 1x DVD drive, though -- it MUST be AT LEAST 2x to work with RD2!

Camera editing is a VERY tough nut to crack, mainly because the camera info for EACH car (and for each different COLOR car of a particular car type) is stored in each individual car file. That makes it virtually impossible to come up with an all-in-one camera editing tool that would allow for LFS ...
