OT: Return policies w/o receipt

Post by mobiggins »

I have this appliance that I got for Christmas that I thought I might use but it's instead been collecting dust in the box. I haven't even opened it yet. So, I don't have a receipt, and the person who gave it to me isn't the kind who would take it well if I told them I wasn't going to use it. I would much rather spend the $90 or so that this thing cost on something more useful.
Anyway, from your experiences, which stores have the most no-hassle return policy for store credit on unopened appliances without a receipt?

Heh. Thanks. Very anticlimactic...
I looked at walmart.com and didn't see this thing. I don't know if they carry it, actually. That might be problematic.

If Target carries it, you can return it for an item from the same department of equal or lesser value.

Most stores are getting quite militant on non-receipt returns, but I'm sure if you have an hour or so to kill you can cruise to a few department stores and find somebody who doesn't really give a rat's ass about their job.

No, I think they're exclusive Cindy Crawford HOME collection retailers.
