No, it's not really a mode, it's just how EA football works. Unless you input a move, the CPU will maintain control of the player with the icon under it. I love it for deep passes, on O and D, and even on runs sometimes for the first few steps. It does screw me up on some pass plays, though, especially play fakes, but you just have to move the stick,or hold it down, till the paly fake animation is complete. It's not like old 2K where you can let the CPU do the drop-back and the bounce for you. If you do that in EA football, the damn CPU will throw the ball for you.sportdan30 wrote:Zep or anyone else,
Can you disable "coach mode"? Is it only on Varsity level or is it on AA and Heisman too?
I figured he was joking too b/c I've been quitting the really bad games since I first started playing them at age 10. games are supposed to be fun. fun, dammit.matthewk wrote:I assumed it meant he was happy to have found it. I've never really played more than a season or two in ncaa with one team but this years dynasty is the most robust that I am in my 4th season with Fla St. Madden and 2k5 are ok, but this football game is my game of choice this year.HipE wrote:I just won the national championship tonight in my second season of my SMU dynasty, playing on default AA level, 5 minute quarters. I beat Boise St. 47-14 to finish off my season with a 14-0 record. It was kind of an unrewarding season, I didn't even play a ranked team until the national title game, and even then it was a team rated only B+ overall. I basically lucked into the game, as Miami and USC both lost in the last week of the season, catapulting both Boise St and I into the title game. I ended up with six first team All Americans, and ended up winning almost every individual award, including having the top two Heisman candidates. My WR won with a 2000 yd season and 22 tds, while my RB was runner up with a 2000 yd season and 37 tds. My freshman SS won the Bednarik and Thorpe, getting 21 sacks and 2 ints. My FS also had an incredible year, finishing with 11 ints and 3 tds despite missing three games due to suspension. Even though I played an easy schedule and my bowl wasn't a challenge, I still had a blast playing out the season.
I'm moving on to Heisman default for my next season, which I'm going to play with Iowa with coach contracts turned off. I figure it will take me awhile to learn to win on this level, and I don't want to end up getting fired after a season or two. I've now played three full seasons on default AA, two with SMU and one with Iowa. I can't believe I'm already starting on my fourth season of dynasty play and it college football season hasn't even started. I'm still having a great time with the game though, and I'm guessing I'm only going to enjoy it more once the real season starts this weekend.
