I try to help as best I can. I assume you are wanting to stay in Memphis over the move to Charolette? Didn't you just buy a house not to long ago?fsquid wrote:Brent is always there with a Memphis crack. I miss you, you sack of s***.

yup, 16 months ago we bought a house. Frankly, the Wife would be 1000x happier in Charlotte than in Memphis. I've probably got around 23k in equity in the sucker after realtors fees. I'm tempted to just wait until I get canned, use the severance to move us there and then live off the money from the house until we can get jobs. After we both have jobs, we can probably save 3/4th of her paycheck to build our savings back up.bdoughty wrote:I try to help as best I can. I just know that she'd be much happier there and I wouldn't mind it. I'd love to stay in Memphis, but I'll live.

I used the Spottswood Ave address this time, so hopefully that's your home address. Posted last Thurs, so should be with you in next 5-7 days.fsquid wrote:son of a b*tch! I think I gave you my work address!davet010 wrote:Good luck squid.
Your book is on the way as well, so keep an eye out for it.

Good deal, might be selling the house if I go to Charlotte. I love you though Dave. Go Bayern and Sheff Wed.davet010 wrote:I used the Spottswood Ave address this time, so hopefully that's your home address. Have you considered finding a home far far away from a C-USA School? Even worse Charolette does not have a college FB team (a DIV 1-A team).

There have been massive layoffs for the past few years where I work, and we're going through one of the worst ones right now. It's like walking through a minefield, and I feel thankful every day that I've been able to stay employed. Someone must be looking out for me because every time I've been at the brink of a layoff, I get offered a perfect new position on a different team. Without those moves, I would have been laid off 3 times now.
Charlotte is moving to the A-10 next year.bdoughty wrote:fsquid wrote:Good deal, might be selling the house if I go to Charlotte. I love you though Dave. Hey a step up from the C-USA!Charlotte is moving to the A-10 next year.

Just kidding of course.
Oh hey and for all those Baylor jokes you threw out at my Big 12 over the past few years, they got the last laugh on you tonight winning the Women's National Title. Sure it's not football but it was a great accomplishment for the folks down in Waco.
The ironic part is they are the only Big 12 team to win a Basketball Title since it's inception (Men or Womens).

Yep on occassion we get lucky and do not have to see Geno or Pat grace our TV's. I enjoy women's hoops and what got me started was the year Texas Tech won the title in 93'. Baylor was a great story for a town/college that desperately needed one after what happened with their mens program.Murph wrote:There's women's basketball outside of Tennesse and Connecticut?Go figure.

If you can save 3/4 of her paycheck when you're both working, you should be fine even if you do get "oficially" laid off.fsquid wrote:yup, 16 months ago we bought a house. I'm lucky, her brother in Charlotte has decided to enroll in the Citdel in July. Right now he lives a 1000 sq foot apartment for $600 rent. Really rich part of town, but some old 80 year old woman owns them and hasn't thought about inflation evidently! Anyways, we're thinking about selling the house, moving there and living in the tight confines until we are back up and running. Job prospects are better in Charlotte than in Memphis anyways.
Biggest brightside is that I don't have to listen to Ole Miss fans call the sports radio shows bitching about what Calipari said this week.

Thank the Lord for that !!
Enjoy it - it is very readable. I'm looking for a similar book on the Italian game now, of a more general nature than Tim Parks book ' A Season with Verona'
Anyone interested in the Spanish game should get hold of Phil Ball's book 'Morbo'.
Naturally the book City feature in most that isn't specifically about them is called 'I Just Can't Help Believing - the Relegation Experience', and the front cover is just made up of a City fan in tears.
