I must be the only one that still finds Wisconsin a bad basketball team. A team that is "lucky" to be in the Elite 8. Even if Kansas was struggling they have more talent and athleticism, and a different style than Bucknell.

All these Big 10 teams are soft in the middle. They have no Wayne Simien, Andrew Bogut, Shelden Williams, Sean May, or Craig Smith.

Playing teams that shoot treys the whole game fits perfectly into their plans.

JackDog,

I think State will give Kentucky a game and I would not be surprised if they beat the Cats. As for the Badgers...anything can happen, but it will take a "perfect" game from them to beat UNC.

I agree with you. IF Wisconsin can slow down UNC they will have a shot. A small one,but as we have seen anything can happen this year. As far as the Spartans. I really think they can beat Kentucky. They are a very underrated team. We shall see. Let's hope it's a repeat of yesterday's games. That was an awsome day of college basketball.

Wow! Wisconsin finishes the half on a 11-0 run. Nice.

Very surprising to have this game tied in the 40s after the first half. Wisconsin needs to keep the scoring down for the second.

Bad basketball teams don't get to the Elite 8. Like JD said now you are just trolling.

Exactly. Although I guess that makes UNC a bad basketball team also, since Wisconsin is giving them everything they can handle.

Well they came up short. But at least they made some Tar Heel butts pucker.

This will be one of the few times you see me write this.............Go Spartans!!!

But that wasn't the point. Wisconsin proved they belong. Not that they needed to, the notion a team who makes it to the Elite 8 is "bad" is laughable.

I know there is some sort of anti-Big 10 bias in this thread, but the fact of the matter is, they got more teams deeper in to the tourney than any other conference, and you really can't deny their teams stepped it up this year.

Let's just see what FG is made of. Will he.

A: Come back ranting about how great May was and how Wisconisn did not belong in the game, even though it was close for most of the game.

B: Admit he was wrong and will give Wisconsin credit for not only their play, but the ability to hang with Carolina in a faster paced game then they like to play.

C: Be a no show like a certain Boston College fan.

Well nobody will remember it since it's not the Final Four

but it has been one great weekend of games (3 OT games and the other was close to the end).

That was a phenomenal weekend of college basketball, further proof why March Madness is only met by the NFL Playoffs as the supreme annual team sporting event in the United States.

Damn, that was fun. I hope next weekend can match up.

Take care,

Man Gators was right. The Big 10 does suck, they only got in 2 of the final 4 teams.

Sad thing, is they weren't that far from having 3 of the 4 teams in the final four. Sorry but any argument disputing the legitmacy of the Big 10 this tourney has just flown out the window. Time to come and take your medicine.

Although Parker never did, so I guess you could punk out like him.

I'm busy with work but I'll stop by and say

A) Great games again, to finish off the wackiest, most fun weekend in college basketball history (perhaps.)

The Big 10 has two teams in the Final Four, and that to me is impressive. Are they the best conference in America? No, I think the ACC wins that matchup top to bottom on a neutral court. But the Big 10 has been underrated. It's top three teams are tough, it's top two, when playing well are very good. It's a three team conference, though, unlike the Big East and ACC which have six strong teams.

I was traveling back to school so I only saw the 2nd half of the UNC game, but heard most of the first half on radio. Wisconsin plays tough. They are hard to blow out, but they are weak on the inside, as witnessed by May's 29. Could they handle Boone/Villanueva/Nelson or Simien? Hard to tell. I don't think they get there to play UNC, if Bucknell doesn't shock the world.

Michigan State's experience has carried them. They are a tough team, but I think UNC powers past them. They have to play their top game here on out though...which means they can defend better. Giving up 80+ to Wisconsin, a team that averages in the 60s is not good enough. Not a mark of a champion, which I have thought they would be since November.

Billy Packer said it best when the RPI rankings for the conferences were thrown up - "It's not the RPI rankings that matter but what you do in the tournament." What's more important - winning the game on paper or on the court?

Talk about Mr. Contradiction. Wasn't you who said the following?
FloridaGators wrote:I just would like to see Wisconsin actually play a team seeded higher than them. I think they lose convincingly.
Which is it? Are they hard to blow out or will they lose convincingly to a higher-seeded team? I would have never guessed that you would act just as ignorant as Parker FG. That's pretty sad.

I wouldn't give UNC that rimjob just yet, Gators. They neeeded a bad call to beat Villanova, and they pulled out a close win against Wisconsin. They are an impressive team, on paper, probably the best team this year. But they have Roy Williams at the helm, and the higher the altitude, they less oxygen he gets to his coaching brain. I think he gets outcoached by Izzo, Illinois holds off a tough Louisville team, and it's all Big 10 for the championship.

Gee there is some insight from Packer. All you need to look at is the team who held the #1 RPI (Kansas) for most of the year to figure out how much merit it has.

What is even more shocking is there are people who LISTEN to Packer and Nantz calling the game. I prefer the mute button myself. Such a contrast from the great announcing team from the first game...

Don't forget this tidbit.
FloridaGators wrote: UNC will run Wisconsin and their plodding offensive system out of the gym to coast to the Final Four now.

Wisconsin is very overmatched against Sean May on the inside. I think they will get killed on the boards.

Let's also see that Wisconsin has NOT been tested in this tournament. They are going to see a huge talent difference. They are going to go from a 7-9 ACC team to the best in the conference. From Bucknell's Chris McNaulghton to Sean May.

He also forgot Minnesota,Iowa and a self imposed Ohio St. The Big Ten is far from a 3 team conference.
