Congratulations to the Red Sox. It's just a shame the Cards couldn't make it more of a series. For whatever reason, it doesn't hurt as much getting swept as it would have if we lost game 6 or 7. Definitely the better team won. Heck, we would have lost four straight to the Royals the way we played. You can't always say the better team won, but in this case it was true.
Probably better the Bo Sox won it here in St. Louis. All those arrests and injuries is still a travesty though.
On to bigger and brighter things. I'm looking forward to the Kansas Jayhawks cutting down the nets in March!

The Bills could be 0-16, and I'd still support them and find more enjoyment than almost any baseball game, the ALCS and NLCS final few games this year excluded. That was true sports drama and entertainment. I didn't get that sense or feeling from the World Series.dbdynsty25 wrote:Umm, there is for us Dolphins and Bills fans.pk500 wrote:As I said tonight in the TOCA 2 race, the best thing about the Red Sox sweep is that we can now all concentrate on football a bit earlier than we thought. The Red Sox laid the wood to the Cards, I didn't see it coming. Thought either team could win but neither could dominate. Shows what I know.
Can't take anything away from the Sox--8 straight against the 2nd and 3rd best teams in baseball. Lowe pitched himself into BIG money.
I look forward to regular Sports Guy columns now, as well as the media having one fewer thing to drive into the ground next year.
I am so tired of hearing about the curse and all that crap...

Wow...dominating performance by the Red Sox. The Cardinals looked like a AA team for the last three games. 1 hit for your 4-5-6 hitters in the series and Albert Pujols without an RBI. Unbelievable.
Congrats to the Red Sox. Maybe now we can finally stop hearing the RSN's incessant whining...at least until next year.
So, now does everyone in America automatially become a Cubs fan?

My older brother, who is the biggest and most knowledgable baseball fan I've ever met, made this very interesting point about the Red Sox last night: Now that the Bosox have won the World Series, their fans no longer are interesting.
I first thought the theory was a bit screwy, but it makes complete sense. Red Sox Nation was defined due to its long suffering and futility. Now that it has a World Series title in this generation, what makes Red Sox Nation interesting anymore?
Not much.
Now the Bleacher Bums at Wrigley are every man's favorite long-suffering baseball fan. Red Sox Nation after this World Series will be no different than Marlin Nation after last year's World Series, once the celebrations end in a few weeks.
I thought he was nuts, but as with all things baseball, I see my brother's wisdom. And no, he's not a Yankees' fan. He likes the Red Sox, but even he knows Red Sox Nation has lost its schtick with this title.
Take care,
PK

I woke up this morning with the football team i hold season tickets to the current World Championship, the baseball team who for 33 years have broken my heart embracing a World Championship, and I just found my 19 month old's heart irregularity is 99% likely to be something she can live with for a long time. Phew!
Life doesn't get much better than this.

It's hard to get much love when you only have three dozen fans. Although, to be fair, they are a valuable part of the Chicago economy. Without them, who would buy all the mini-trucks?Dave wrote:Naa, but I won't actively root against the Cubs as much.
Why do the White Sox get no love as a "cursed" franchise?
The "We threw a World Series Curse" is much more interesting to me.
I keed, I keed.
Hats off to the other Sox fans, your team pounded the poop out of a good Cardinals team. The Red Sox never quit and pulled off the best string of post-season winning I've ever seen. Enjoy the moment.
I'm also happy now that I don't have to listen to this crap anymore.
The Evil Empire needs to sign some pitching, nevermind Beltran.Danimal wrote:I'm sure the Evil Empire will be devestated next year when they sign Beltran.FatPitcher wrote:Ahem. Diamondbacks? You left the biggest party in Boston sports history let alone a $hitload of happy ass drinking women to post on an internet forum?Parker wrote:I was celebrating downtown just like I did after the ALCS. But as I recall, numerous people asked where the hell was I after the ALCS so I figured I would pop in sooner.
This was your chance to end another Boston curse, you might have gotten laid.

They will constuct a wailing wall for Boston College Football and a National Championship. That will take a few generations. It could become interesting.pk500 wrote:My older brother, who is the biggest and most knowledgable baseball fan I've ever met, made this very interesting point about the Red Sox last night: Now that the Bosox have won the World Series, their fans no longer are interesting.

I was beyond bored with Red Sox Nation as is, my only hope is that they get less attention next year.
I have a hard time with people my age acting like they are such long suffering fans. Give it up, I have never followed a team closely through a regular season that has done anything in my lifetime either. Big deal, only a small percentage of fans get that ultimate payoff each year. At least their team has a chance to be consistently good in the current baseball environment.
The closest thing I have is the Reds winning it 14 years ago (didn't follow the Twins until the last 5 years), but I don't really remember much about it.
Chicago baseball is much more "cursed," at least the Sox have made it to the World Series a handful of times.
