For what it's worth 2k25 runs muuuuuuch better on my ROG Xbox Ally X than PGA Tour does...so I'm back to playing 2k25 when I'm on my handheld.
I play EA 2023 on the cloud and it runs like a champ and an waiting a bit to see what the next handhelds look like. Played 2K25 today about four hours and am making progress and a bear to figure out putting and chipping. I had contemplated buying the ROG Xbox Ally X and still may as I like what it offers over the others but still holding out. Have Switch and love it and even considered getting Steam OLED Deck but if I had to buy right now I would get your setup.
PGA 2K25 runs great on the Switch 2. Steady fps. It has impressed me. Chipping is brutal if you are using 3 click swing. It’s broke. But it’s fine with the swing stick.

Thanks for the quick impressions. Was curious how it ran on the Switch 2.
Was checking out world wide sales of the last three installments of this series and here is what we got.
2K21. 3 million
2K23. 516 thousand
2K25. 185 thousand.
That's telling and not surprising as I have said all along that 2K21 was the gameplay of the series. With those numbers for 2K25 you got to wonder if there will be a 2zk27 and the money brought in for 2K25 is around 11 million and that not a lot for a Class A title. I think they beat themselves with the new pay to play aspect with VC and sorry but Im not paying extra after 70 bucks for the game itself. At Pro I'm clueless and can't break a 100 but at Amateur I can hang around par and it's enjoyable so thats where I will land with this title but then again I just got it and am a year behind the field. To me I wish HB would just part with 2K as 2K is nothing but a money grab and if they put a game out in 2027 that won't change and thats a shame.

wait what? there's no way 2k23 or 2K25 has not sold at least 500K each. what are the sales for EA's golf game?

Only have totals world wide for Steam and not as high as people think. I have a feeling the 2K games could be higher also but EA and Sony and Microsoft won't divulge numbers for consoles but will for other games which could be because they dont like the numbers. See below for Steam copied from Goggle.
While not representing total console sales, data from trackers indicated that by early 2024, the Steam (PC) version had estimated unit sales in the range of 70,000 to over 130,000, with a reported revenue estimate of approximately $2.7 million on that platform.

ok for steam yeah those numbers would make sense. but for console 2K23/2k24 each had to reach 1 million copies sold or close to it.
No guarantee that they hit those numbers like a million on consoles as I am not surecEA will come out with a new game as sales were not what they expected and they have pretty much abandoned the current game. Golf is a nitch sport and always was more popular on PC than console especially with the old Links series which is to this day played competively online. Now 2K could be a different story and in depends how they did on the pay to play sector of the game as if they sold a lot they will want to do it again in 2027. With how low players were going when the game first came out I bet a lot of thos -20 scores per round were doing that. I have been playing this game a lot by myself the last few weeks and just now am getting to the point of going under par at Amateur level right now. I won't by VC as thats BS and will work my way up to Pro and at this rate at least a month or so before I can play respectable at that level. I got to believe the casual player either quit or went to Perfect Swing to just be able to play. I'm liking the game the more I play and it's a real grind but I believe I will get there but right now not interested in shooting 110 at Pro in societyplay.

EA didnt market their PGA game at all this time around. 2K25 has been marketed mainly in the golf world like TopGolf locations and almost every PGA tour location.
What I hate the most about this new game is I have to look at the meter to play it as passing the Blue line of death especially on putting is just brutal. With 2K23 and EA 2023 I could play by feel and in 2K23 the vibration in the backswing was when you were at the top point. With 2K25 if I used no meter and just vibration it would be impossible as if you get to vibration you have gone to far. Also to short of blue line putt goes halfway. I just wish the penalty for not being perfect or blue line was not so severe. Chipping is a mess also as you really can't chip out of rough and the whole shot is a mess.

2K25 to me is like a glam car. It looks great from the outside, has all the bells and whistles, but when you drive it, you soon find out all the defecencies with the car. It's not a lemon, but it isn't all that it was hyped up to be.
I'm very happy with EA PGA. The graphics alone are incredible. I sometimes will turn the game on just to see the fly over of the courses. It was a shame they never put in simple things in that game like instant replay and other features that have been around for 20 years in other sports games.
EA PGA does one thing well but it's the most important thing in a golf game - it play's a great game of golf!
I have no data to back this up so I am talking completely out of my ass, but I'd put a pretty penny down that PGA Tour 2K25 sold significantly more than those numbers on consoles.
I really, really enjoyed EA PGA Tour. The graphics, atmosphere, single player tour, and fun factor were all top shelf IMO. The only medium sized complaint I had with that game was the inability to hold greens from mid to long range.
Well for the last ten days I have been playing this game pretty hard and getting better by the day an finally moving to Pro Am. I have to say playing four rounds a day and doing this the hard way with four round career events it has really grown on me and loving the mechanics more and more. I find the putting to be very good and challenging and you got to work to build a player. Have decided to strictly be a Greenskeeper and sacrificing distance for better short game and accuracy. At this point no interest in society play till I can play Pro and be at least par player besides having to much fun playing career and all these great user made courses against a ghost with turn mode on. That is one thing I love about EA games career as I can play my tournament rounds with a Pro and wish this game had that feature. Just my recent thoughts and who knows maybe by mid month I might get back in Society play but got conserve that VC.

since it's on ps plus now, i may restart from scratch. i dont know if I'll have the excitement to play this game again.
This game has taken on a new character with me due to my declining gaming skills. My thumbstick skills have gotten so bad that I do good to hit half of the fairways and greens in regulation. My putting skills have really waned. I had 5, 3-putt greens in my DSP Society round last night at a course that only had one questionable pin placement. Most of my putting misses are traceable to not being able to module the stroke strength to keep from running 10 feet past the hole on 25 foot putts.
I enjoy the game almost as much as I did when it first launched, but I have had to reel me expectations back in to where I feel like breaking par for a round is a good score.
I think the biggest factor I can point to is the swing doesn't feel as integrated with my stick motion as it used to feel. If I have to hit like a 75% pitch or chip shot, forget it. I have no real feel for how to regulate the swing. It doesn't feel as proportional as I'd like. Part of that is on my feel abandoning me, but I can play the demo of this game on my PC and change the settings to where I maintain a solid 60 FPS, and set the polling rate for my controller to 500 Hz, and a lot of that feel is recovered, particularly in the chipping and pitching game. I have to dial my resolution back to 1080p to get that steady 60 FPS performance, but it really doesn't look that much worse than 4K.
Next time 2K runs a special I think I'll pick up the PC version so I can at least occasionally be competitive. Mostly though, I just want the swing animation to look and feel like what I'm doing with the thumbstick.
Ever since Season 5 (I think that's the one we're in now) my putting has gone down hill significantly. I'm missing a lot more putts inside of 10 feet than I have at any time previous to this season.

oh no, what happened? is it a physical ailment or you think it's just age related?
I have heard from others of a drop off in gaming skill when they get older. So far, cross my fingers/god willing, I have not had this happen. I can still beat kids half or even more than half my age on Madden, The Show, and many sports games (except NHL because I don't want to learn all the fancy moves in vs online mode). What age do you think you hit a age skill wall?

I really started noticing it last year, within a month or two of the release of PGA TOUR 2K25. It is not all on my diminishing game skill, I think part of it is on my controller. I have an Elite 2 controller, but I actually do better in this game playing it with my grandson's Gamesir controller. The animation seems to track more responsively with its stick movement than the Elite 2.
I am now 71, but I can say I started noticing the drop off in game performance overall, about the time I turned 70. I am still pretty competitive in racing games where I can use my steering wheel, but stick control is clearly more difficult for me to manage now.
The good thing is that the games are still fun to play, I just have to change my expectations just a bit to deal with it.

I have seen a lot of less than 10 foot putts miss that I used to make. Honestly, I thought I was getting to much forgiveness on some of the putts I was making. The misses that I'm seeing now look more realistic and I rarely feel like I make something I didn't deserve to make. I think the developers have made some subtle tweaks to this part of the game, and I really think it is for the better.
Would you say that more of your misses on the shorter putts are due to overpowering them? I three putted from inside 10 feet twice in yesterday's round and it was all on me, overpowering the first putt. I think I don't respect the shorter putts like I should because I tend to be impatient with them. I take the blame for that.
I would love to try the game on a PS5 so I could see what the difference in the controller feel is like. Everyone I know who has played the game on the PS5 and the XBox Series X says the PS5 stroke feels more responsive and proportional. Have you by chance been able to try it on the XBox?
I stopped using my Elite 2 controller too and use the stock controller that came with my Xbox X (a Christmas gift from my son last year).
I turned 70 last July and I’ve given up on shooter games. I’m lucky to get one kill in an online game.
My golf gaming skills have always been just average.

Welcome to the 70+ club Mark! I have never been very adept at shooters with any controller. I play them for entertainment on occasion, but I realize I'm am going to go down quickly. I still get a kick out of them.
Your thoughts on the Elite 2 are consistent with what I've been able to experience. I bought a Gamesir wired conroller last year and was getting better performance out of it with PGA TOUR 2K25 using it. My grandson got an XBox Series S for Christmas and needed an extra controller. I gave him my Gamesir controller (can't remember the model number of the specific controller) and he loves it. I may just pick up another Gamesir and roll with that. I think it was only like $40 and it had three polling rate choices you could set it to, although I was told it wouldn't go higher than 500 Hz with the XBox Series X. Whatever the case, I got better feel out of the Gamesir than the Elite 2.
