Biggest disappointment with this patch is sliders still resetting in CFM. No one will ever convince me that CFM and Play Now run under the same engine. Every year the same things are broken in CFM and they apologize for releasing a game in that state etc. You can miss the same exact problems 4 years in a row and not know about it.

Does the patch just d/l and install while the xbox is idle? I didn't get any prompts about an update yet it did update the playbooks.

Did the patch break the game? Or lessen the fun factor?

You have to update manually meaning start the game to get the prompt.

Played one game post patch. Confidence bug is gone so that is good. Defense seemed to play better and the game was a lot closer. I'm still noticing a huge disparity between my play now games and my CFM games both on default All Pro sliders.

In my CFM games the CPU has no running attack what so ever, also I can pretty much count on a 60-70% completion rate for myself using Cutler and the CPU reagrdless of QB. Teddy Bridgewater just threw for 300 yards and was 70.9% completion rate. Unlike in Play Now I don't see errant throws most incompletions are break ups.

Now in Play Now (it's been a week since I played this way) I saw the cpu being able to run, completion percentages were no where near 70% and I saw lots and lots of wild throws. So either something was toned down in a Tunning update which I can see since EA caves to the arcade kiddie crowd at first blush or else CFM is just totally f***ed.

Either way the game is 1000 times more enjoyable in Play Now games. It's just crazy that it is like this.

I am starting to think that I should not read the OS forums when Madden comes out. It's like reading AVS after you bought a TV. Ignorance really is bliss sometimes :D

But since I have, CFM still seems like it has A LOT of problems. I'm thinking of starting one with a fantasy draft so I'm not as invested in realism, but I am hoping the game doesn't have the on-field issues in CFM that it doesn't have in Play Now. I gave MUT a try and, while interesting, it's not my thing. If the CFM doesn't play well, I will be cutting bait while trade-in values are high. I can't get into endless Play Now games no matter how much I enjoy the game mechanics for those.

Another reason why EA needs to bring back "Season Mode".

First the OS users b*tch about everything. Would you really notice or care that there are a lot of 90+ speed WR's? Do you care that sim stats are giving up crazy sack totals? If you care about this stuff then yes you may not like it. I'm finding CFM enjoyable for all my bitching, but I just notice a difference especially with the CPU AI. I'm really interested in another opinion on this.

To me All Pro in Play Now is perfect and in CFM I feel like I am on Pro difficulty. It's really weird.

Sucks that all of my games in the Early Access were play now. Even Auto Subs work there. But the CFM confidence stuff broke it, so I haven't played it since release day when I discovered them.

I'd notice the 90+ speed guys in my league, simply because everybody would be scrambling to get them in the first draft, and the teams that did would immediately have an advantage over the teams that didn't. But I also heard that when they put fixes like this together, that existing CFM's don't see the advantage, either. I'm not sure if it matters or not, but I might try starting a new one and see how it feels there.

So apparently my better QB's is not just me. People are saying to delete the tuner (not the patch) and it will eliminate this but I'm convinced the Confidence and Drive goals are the culprits of the wonky CFM. This would explain why all my games are so easy to win in CFM and completely realistic in Play Now as there is no confidence boosting my players.

f***in EA and there dangling carrot method of gaming. I don't need boosts in a football game.

You need to make sure the game was shut down, in other words not in standby. You know how to exit out of a game like you do to not use up EA access time right? Once i did that and started the game the patch downloaded.

Yes sir.. I close it down every time and start fresh. Never had a prompt to install a patch. My daughter has a profile data save on Madden, so maybe she started it up while I was gone and it downloaded the patch. I'm not sure there is a way to tell if it's installed until I start a CFM.

I'm not 100% positive but I believe if you go into the game setting it should show up somewhere.

Supposedly, look for all the players to get speed bumps to make up for the speedy draft class rookies. In other words were back to Speed being the only attribute that matters in Madden.

I think I would notice the speed and sack totals, especially because the sacks really screws up o-line progression. Both of those things then impact playing more than one season. I don't play a ton of Madden, but especially in a year when the Bears are bad, I'm more inclined to get a few seasons in and see if I can improve the fake Bears. Draft class and progression issues really mess that up.

But, I'm still eager for the roster update and interested in giving CFM a go. I just played a really fun Play Now game with the Packers at the Bears, so I'll have something to compare it to when I start my franchise.

This is a goofy way to fix the problem, but I don't think it will necessarily screw up the game. There really does seem to be a big difference in how ratings matter this year. I've noticed it playing around in Play Now, different teams really feel different in their strengths and weaknesses, and I think that's because more ratings are contributing to outcomes than just speed and joystick jockeying.

I agree but apparently they can't go back and fix draft classes according to a dev on twitter. That statement tells you one of two things.

1. The are full of s*** and liars and just went the quick route (did you notice how fast this patch came out)
2. They are the worst programmers in history.

Leaving yourself no way to update draft class ratings seems being comprehensible so I am going with option 1.

I using this game as a nfl today mode. I'll play each weeks real life intriguing games in play now. As long as the patch didn't kill the fun factor I'm fine with it. anyway franchise was getting boring for me so I'm happy to go back to play now.

They need a frickin' season mode. No excuse.

On a more positive note, they just released a face scan update for 180 faces. That's pretty sweet!
