Played 4 or 5 games last night. I'll try to remain objective, but damn, it'll be hard. I apologize for the off-screen video quality with an Air Conditioner Unit running right next to me, as well. Turn the volume off :)

1. One on one battles across the board seem completely overhauled. WR/DB, OL/DL, LB/RB all seem to have a bunch of singular battles out there. I was posting some videos in my league chat last night while everybody was waiting for it to download, and even in slow motion, the hand fighting is pretty impressive.

https://v.groupme.com/9847472/2015-08-1 ... 8x320r.mp4

You've got to throw the ball on time (even though I was a hair late there, it's easy to see in slow mo I guess), the man coverage is much tighter in the limited time I've had so far. In this one, I went up for what I thought was a sure pick, and it started out that way. But by the time they landed, A.J. Green stole it from me and it was a simultaneous catch, that he was awarded possession on:

https://v.groupme.com/9847472/2015-08-1 ... 8x320r.mp4

2. The fear about the "Aggressive Catch being overpowered" is a non-issue from what I've seen so far. There was one catch all night where I just thought "bullsh*t!!!!", because the WR lept up between my safety and CB and snagged it with a twisting, leaping grab. But it was Calvin Johnson, so that was quickly replaced by the realization that the ratings play a huge factor in those 1 on 1 battles again. The good corners were draped all over my #1 WR, and I threaded some passes into some tiny windows, but I also threw some picks when the CB was staring right at me.

3. I had a much better success rate with man coverage than I did in Madden 15. If the corners are playing inside technique, it's VERY difficult for those WRs to get an inside release. The slot receiver still can, but many times the CB playing inside technique will keep them step for step on that slant/PA cross. And combining that with the "Play Receiver" button of A now, you get some pretty aggressive plays.

https://v.groupme.com/9847472/2015-08-1 ... 8x320r.mp4

4. In my last game of the evening, I decided to play exclusively as Khalil Mack vs. a buddy. He looked every bit the dominant defender that he is. First snap, he tried to run away from him (he's the Rams), but Mack absolutely blew by Greg Robinson and tackled the ball carrier for a 2 yard loss on a strong power the other way. If it was a 1 on 1 block, Robinson was hopelessly outmatched. He started running away every time, so I started doing the "DE Flip" packages on and off, moving him right and left, and before long all I was hearing was "f*cking Mack". QB hits, pressures, hurries, sacks, 4 tackles for loss in the running game. It was like J.J. Watt level of disruption, which leads me to:

5. Robo QBs are finally gone. Completely. Default settings, Andy Dalton completed 53% of his passes in that game I played against him. You don't get any more frozen ropes when getting hit (they flutter to the ground or pop up for picks), and the CPU QBs actually display a little awareness now, instead of standing there like statues getting crushed:

https://v.groupme.com/9847472/2015-08-1 ... 8x320r.mp4

6. In general, the cut-and-plant animations and physics are better. You can easily scat through the line and get shifty. I broke off a couple of nasty runs last night, one of which just looked like a "real" run. Minor cuts and moves, made one guy really miss and then I was gone.

I also got destroyed in a random teams game vs. a buddy who almost never beats me. His random team was the Lions, and mine was the Bills. The Bills QBs are really, really bad. I've never seen so many balls missing by just-enough-to-be-incomplete, or 10 yards off and right to a safety. What made it worse was when the throws WERE on, my WRs would drop the ball. I changed QBs like socks, and had 7 turnovers by the time the game was done, losing huge (something like 31-14). Against the same buddy when I had Derek Carr, he was throwing almost everything in the correct location and I had only 1 turnover (on an attempted fade route that I threw too early).

I don't know....after one evening, I'm absolutely drooling to go get back after it again after work.

I left my Access session last night very impressed. I'm not the Madden nut I used to be (I was an annual customer) but I really liked what I saw. Plenty of presentation goodness. I lost 27-24 in OT to Tampa Bay with my Eagles in a very competitive game. I left the game wanting more. I'm gonna mess with the draft companion later on.

Terry nice write up. I was impressed with what little I saw. I thought the movement was kind of jerky but I think that is because it was still downloading. In my 8 minute accelerate clock game I saw 6 penalties on default slider. 3 holding, two of which brought back big plays. 2 defensive offsides and I can't recall the other one. I didn't see any defensive holding I was hoping to see.

I really like the passing mechanics. The high and low point throws are nice but the touch pass is awesome, I used that on a nice corner route into the end zone. I also almost ran back a kick off and it didn't feel cheap, the play felt organic. If you've played enough Madden you'll know what I mean.

I kind of let the receivers and DB's be CPU controlled because I wanted to see what would happen. I'm not a big fan of the cues for which button to press popping up but I'm sure you can turn that off. I absolutely loved the WR / DB interaction and didn't think Aggressive Catch seemed over powered. I don't know the Steelers well but #28 got beat for 3 big plays. 2 of which were TD's this happened when he was in one on one coverage and each time he was out of position to make the play. When DB's were in position they were breaking up passes left and right.

I'm eager to play tonight but I can see my 10 hours going really quickly.

Yes, I forgot to mention on kick returns, those are so much more real feeling now. I think this is because of the better 1 on 1 blocking everywhere. Actual lanes develop and you can cut through gaps and actually work on returning the ball instead of trying to run to the outside every time. I think that 2-man interaction overhaul they did had a trickle down effect to damn near every aspect of the game. Now, maybe in 2 weeks or a month there will be issues that we can never "unsee", but right now, it's the biggest leap I've seen the game make in a single year.

You can definitely turn the icons off. It's in the options by the "Tackle icons on/off, passing icons on/off." Something like that.

I also agree on the high point throws (LB plus WR icon) and low throws (LT plus icon). With Coop I was low pointing some comebacks and curls, and with Crab I hit a ridiculous fade that he high pointed with a DB draped all over him. The high-RTE WRs have some serious juice this year. I've seen Cooper doing some stuff to DBs that I've never seen Madden model. Hand fakes, head bobs, hip twists, all sorts of stuff at the line, and some leans before he runs a post that got the DBs turned around. It's pretty crazy, but it's only a 5 game sample size.

Also, I know what you mean about jerky animation. I don't think that's a download issue. I think that's one of my 'upgrades' that I like. The feet plant hard and they cut off of those plants. There's not nearly as much momentum changing directions with ballcarries, but my first game I kept thinking it looked a little jerky. After I got used to it, I was appreciating the quick changes of direction that you can do, so perhaps it's the same thing you are seeing....but maybe the jerkiness is something that will bug you more than me, dunno.

It didn't really bug me it was just noticeable. I only got one game in as I didn't want to waste all my time playing the Steelers and Cardinals. :D

Came away impressed of what little I played last night.

- Thought the intro of the Super Bowl game was really cool, although there was frequent audio drops and the frame rate didn't seem real smooth.

- I played a half with the Cardinals vs. the Steelers on All-Pro.

- The entire game might finish installing on my Xbox One by the end of this week. Seriously, it is a slow install for whatever reason.

- My very first play from scrimmage on defense was a pass interference call against me. I saw exactly 0 last year.

- The pop up X, A, Y, buttons are annoying, but they're quick reminders of how I wish to strategically catch the ball. What is the safe possession catch? What's cool is if you pick the wrong one, you'll be penalized for it by an incomplete quite often.

- I'm real impressed with the lighting this year, specifically on the field. It looks more realistic, although the Cardinals helmets at times look grayish white.

- The coach models are much improved, and their clothing doesn't look as painted on as in year's past.

- Many of the players faces are spot on and look really really good.

- Phil Sims annoys the crap out of me with his generic commentary. Nance is decent, but I guess I'm just tired of his voice from hearing him so much in real life (NCAA tournament, football, golf, etc).

- Getting skinny while running through holes really is beneficial and is seamless.

- Tackling animations every year has improved and I'm loving seeing the gang tackles.

- I'm seeing far less crazy player model interaction on tackles, and when they stand up from after a play. Petty I know, but it just looked bad and silly before. It's much better now.

- Love the WR/DB animations. To finally see them fighting for the ball, especially the WRs is a huge improvement.

- Trailed the Steelers 24-9 early in the third quarter and shut down the system around 10:45 pm. I too am not going to waste my 10 hours playing with the same two teams.

- Looking forward to playing more later this evening, if the game finally installs!

I blame the install process on my crappy provider AT&T my friend has Comcast and his installed in 20 minutes. It's not that large of a download so I think AT&T is throttling again.

One thing I forgot to mention in my brief play but the hard hits this year, I know this won't make sense but I can really feel them and they look realistic.

I'm quite surprised after one game... played Rams vs Titans and I actually like the pop up icons when catching balls. Had a great jump ball catch with Britt for a nice gain.

Running the ball is great and the CPU team with Mariotta was tearing me up on the ground and in the air.

Haven't seen one penalty yet.. I thought that was fixed this year?

Love all the stat pop ups and what not. Biggest thing for me is it feels like a football game.. no more rushing 10 carries for 11 yards. (default AP)

Going to play all 10 hours and see if that makes me purchase.

Same. I kept a tally. 5 games.

7 holdings, 3 pass interference, 4 false starts, 3 offsides (one of each where the OL moved, too. Once went against the D, another went as a false start, that was cool), 3 late hits near the sideline.

Probably.. I only played 8 min quarters. It's been a long time since I played Madden, what is normal for quarter length and clock run off?

Well in my game I played 8. Usually I play 11-12 minute quarters with run off to 16 seconds. Terry might have a better suggestion.

In Madden 15, I ended up doing 14 minute quarters with a run-off to 15 seconds. Seemed to be perfect.

I do 12 min with 12 sec runoff, but this year the battles are better for me so far on offense and defense, so I went full 15 mins with 12 second runoff and I still fit a game in within an hour.

Played some of that Draft Champions at lunch, and that was a lot cooler than I thought it would be.

Pick one of 3 random coaches and use their scheme.

Then 15 rounds of drafting players, one from each set of three. You don't know which players you're going to get, so you might take an 85 MLB only to find out there was a 93 2 rounds later. I took a 77 Derek Carr due to homerism, and had to pass on 90 OVR Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady (ratings seem to come from MUT cards, but you don't buy packs). The last round is a legends draft, and I had to choose from LaDainian Tomlinson, Shannon Sharpe, and somebody else, I forget who. I put Tomlinson on the Raiders, because that's too funny to not do.

In the end I had a pretty decent team and rolled my first game, but you play 4 games and get some reward--don't know what it is. Then the team gets blown up and you can do it again, online or off. Also cool that it's not like MUT where guys who spend more $$$ have better teams. It's the same all the time, almost like a "Fixed Setup" MUT type league.

I was pretty surprised at how entertaining that was. DSP Online Draft Champions tourneys, perhaps.

OK, this might be dumb to a lot of people, but it has me overjoyed.

AUTO SUBS WORK. OUT OF THE BOX!!!

I thought about it and decided to test it. Set it to 92 sub out, 95 sub in for my RBs. Ran every down in a test game. Carries went like this:

RB1 Murray
RB1 Murray
RB1 Murray
RB2 Richardson
RB1 Murray
RB2 Richardson
RB1 Murray
RB1 Murray
RB2 Richardson
RB3 Helu

That gave me a 6-3-1 split between the 3 tailbacks. I can't tell you how long I've wanted to run a running back by committee approach, but couldn't without manually subbing guys every couple series.

So excited about something so stupid.

Played another game with longer quarters, had 7-8 penalties!

Passing is so fun.. just watching Foles throw a bullet into the arms of Austin and letting him run makes me giddy inside. Running is also so much better (I haven't played in years). Both backs had close to 100 yards and over 4 ypc.

Love all the stat popups too.

Going to play more.. but I'm REALLY impressed early into my 10 hours.

Just drafted and did decent. I gambled and passed on Rivers and Kapernick early and didn't get a great QB. Ended up with Ponder but got some solid talent otherwise. Heading in for a game.

The Eagles just smoked me 24-0.. I had some great drives, but couldn't do anything. Murray had 174 yards rushing on me.. yowzers!

The running game is great.. no console football has a runner gained that much on me on defaults.

This would have been cool as hell in Madden 15 with the Bills, with Jackson and Spiller splitting time. But this year's Bills' run attack will feature a steady diet of Shady McCoy if he's healthy.

I'm on the road for a race all weekend. My sons better save me a couple of those 10 hours of the trial for when I get home Monday!
