If they decide to make a similar simulator for Halo - rather than a multi-directional treadmill, they would just use this;

I played a few rounds tonight and still had some guys with the USAS running around but not as many as pre-patch. I would be up to join you guys if you are online.

I'm down for a little BF3. It's been a while. I'm gonna be rusty. I could probably play any night this week.

That patch has been in the works for a long time. They practically changed everything. Might have to re-adjust my go-to silenced M4 setup.

What's really interesting is what they did to air power. I haven't played in a while--it will be interesting to start it up again.
VEHICLE FIXES
-Slightly reduced the repair speed of the repair tool.

-Increased the damage of the Javelin and Air to Ground missiles against laser designated targets.

-Slightly reduced the locking time of all weapons vs Laser Designated targets.

-Laser Guided missiles can now be distracted by Flares.

-Flares will no longer break the lock of a vehicle that is locked on, it will only distract the missiles.

-AA Missiles are more difficult to dodge in Jets, this was unintended behavior that created an imbalance against skilled pilots.

-The IGLA and Stinger now lock on much more quickly and disable an attack aircraft in 1 hit, but have significantly reduced range. This should allow Stingers to mount an effective close range point defense, without dominating an entire airspace.

-Reduced the direct damage done by Attack Helicopter gunners vs Armor.

Sigh...there is nothing more moronic than flares distracting laser-guided missiles. Utterly, utterly ridiculous. SOFLAM...SO WHAT? It's become an absolutely worthless piece of machinery. I will never understand the logic. There's a reason laser-guided munitions were created...SO THAT THEY COULD BEAT COUNTERMEASURES LIKE FLARES.

Patently idiotic.

I would agree, if the the SOFLAM was actually easier to use. As it was, teams rarely put it to good use. I'll trade a weakened SOFLAM for quicker lock and one hit disables. Also, now that flares don't break stinger lock, if 2 people are gunning for an aircraft, one shooter can wait for the pilot to use flares and immediately fire his missile without having to re-lock. That aircraft is going down or will have to flee.

There's also a floor where Stingers and Javelins won't lock onto aircraft. I think it's something pretty low, like 25 meters.

Trying to decide what to carry as an engineer will be interesting -- Javelins are probably better than RPGs now against ground targets but worse against air. Stingers seem better against air, but the floor and range limits probably mean good pilots will still be hard to bring down. The floor change probably means a lot of chopper pilots will drop close to the ground to avoid a lock on, which makes RPGs a much more valid anti-aircraft weapon.

The one thing out of all of this is that I think tanks got nerfed substantially. I think they may be a bit of a liability on maps like Firestorm, Kharg, and especially Wake Island. Smoke will be a very important defense mechanism now.

Any idea why, after downloading that big damned update, there are zero servers found to play on??? What the hell is that about?

Anyone looked at the rent a server? Maybe if we set up a night and get enough commitment we could try that?

I honestly think I'm going to ditch this game. I am SO f*cking frustrated that goddam EA never gave gamers an option for private matches, which is a f*cking staple in all MP video games, and now they charge us to rent a server just to have that ability!?!?!?! WTF!!!???? I love how they make their "rent a server" thing seem like a great, cool, innovative new feature, but it's just a way for them to charge us to have private matches. Pathetic. When does it end...?

Yeah, no F'in way in Hell I'd pay EA to rent a server for the purpose of private matches. I love private matches and I don't begrudge EA trying to make money any way possible, but I am not supporting this effort one bit.

Charging for private matches? Seriously? The new Ghost Recon game can't arrive soon enough next month. Doubt Ubisoft will pull that sh*t on gamers.

b*tch about it all you want, we cant even get 8 guys to play any way so we could already do that in a way and if we did get a 2 dollar private server for one night, its going to be a big map to find the other 3 players on.

Not that I am supporting this in anyway but charging for BF servers has been going on in the PC version for years. It's not private match it is a server, semantics maybe but you can play with 64 buddies (PC anyway) you can train on it etc.

They are making a big deal out of it because this is a first on consoles I guess. It will never work on consoles, people expect to be able to play private matches like they can in Halo etc. Can you play a private match in COD? Just curious.

Private match has been in CoD for a long time.
Unfortunately, rent-a-server has fractured the BF3 player base, and you get kicked from those servers at the drop of a hat.
