Re: Battlefield 3
I had a very odd but entertaining experience. After a game on the Oman map, the next match was Operation Metro. I started up and noticed I had only a couple of teammates -- most of the players from the previous match had bailed. After capturing A and B, my two other teammates left as well. I was the only guy on my team, and the opposition had about 4-5 guys.
I decided to play it out, and the game turned into a very fun cat(s) & mouse match. Not surprisingly, I quickly lost A and B, and they started camping A and waited to ambush me out of the spawn. But I managed to actually break out, flee into the tubes and retake C. They hunted me down and got me, and I decided that capturing flags was useless, but I could have some fun trying to get kills. So that's what we did: they camped A and I tried to see how many guys I could get before getting killed myself.
I managed to finish 7-11, with my best kill coming with me getting a sniper in the building above A from my spawn point with the M249. Even got a couple thousand points in the process. It made me think that some kind of "Most Dangerous Game" mode would be a lot of fun. It also reminded me of Teal going Rambo in Ghost Recon.

Re: Battlefield 3
I had a similar, fun situation with a full room at Operation Metro on Wednesday night.
The opposing team was comprised of bastard offspring of Rambo and Audie Murphy. These cats were really good, all 25+ rankings with laser-precision hand cannons for weapons. We started on the street and easily took A. Those guys held B and C like Gorilla Glue and began to overwhelm us, pushing us toward the street and A.
But they became very disorganized once they left the station and tried to capture A on the street. So we simply raced past them and back into the station, where B and C sat unguarded. So while those guys tripped all over themselves trying to capture A and sweep all three flags, we ended up squatting on B and C for a few minutes before they could recover and annihilate us.
Good fun that made a blowout match tighter than it should have been. Better points haul for me than deserved, too!

Re: Battlefield 3
Wondered what happened, bro. Well, last night was not our finest moment, I'll tell you that. It got a little frustrating with the helicopters, to be honest. Some of those dudes can flat fly a chopper, and coupled with the idiocy of it taking most times multiple rockets to down a heli (and that stupidity of having an engineer who doesn't have to exit the vehicle to fix it on a heli...they have to exit every other friggin' vehicle!) and you have a terribly frustrating experience. In my opinion, if a heli is hit with a rocket, and is 'disabled' (how does a disabled aircraft continue to fly?!?!), then the repair should require the chopper to land, the engineer get out, and fix it on the ground, same as the other vehicles. I've heard that the flares will be spaced out more in an upcoming patch, and that at least a single tank round will down planes and choppers. These will be enormously welcome patches, but making the choppers land to repair would also be a fantastic addition.
However, the heli's were only part of our problem; we were facing some ridiculously good opposition, too...

Re: Battlefield 3
Oh, I don't mind the choppers-in fact, I like flying them myself. But when an engineer can board and just equip his repair tool fixing the damned thing in midair, there's no risk to balance the reward. The heli should be forced to land when hit by a rocket, so the engineer can get out and fix it, subjecting himself to the same dangers they face when repairing a tank or jeep. One shot from a rocket should at least force the heli down to repair, or be blown out of the sky with a successive rocket. And the flares should not be eternal, if the rockets cannot be. Spacing them out more will help, but as of now, there's little use in firing on a heli that is equipped with flares.

Re: Battlefield 3
I wish I had been there with you guys. My new favorite toy is the Soflam, but its so hard to get engineers willing to javelin/Stinger. A laser designated target to bypass flares and a couple of guys with lock on air launchers and those helis don't stand a chance.

Jimmy and I did some damage after everyone left last night. We teamed up in a tank and scored over 5000 points each
Also, woohoo!!! With an Amazon gift card I received for Xmas I ordered the Ear Force X12 Gaming Headset
I can't wait!
I think I am going to play around with the engineer and support classes. I can't do any worse with them.

Re: Battlefield 3
I finally got to play the new maps on the PC....holy crap.....Strike At Karkland is un-f***in-believeable - 7 (SEVEN) capture points - including 2 on an island to the east of the main city with a bridge as a choke point. Amazing stuff. Unfortunately, I am crap at keyboard and mouse controls and am now getting my ass completely and utterly handed to me using a gamepad.
Re: Battlefield 3
My nephew and I tore it up in quite a few of our games last night.
I would drive the jeep and he would use the gun and we would fly around capturing flag points and then use C4 to blow up any tanks we encountered.
One game, I had 1 kill and over 6,000 points for the match making me tops for the game.
Major fun!
