With some key additions this summer, Kings are going to be a tough team to deal with this coming season. At 21 years young, Doughty is already the 3rd best D-man in the league. You can say that at the end of the day both sides caved in a bit to achieve this agreement. Lombardi never wanted DD to get more than A. Kopitar and #8 wanted a much shorter term deal. In the end it works out for both sides before the team travels to Europe.

Awesome goal. Maybe the Flyers will be above .500 on the shootout this year with Jagr, Giroux, and Briere. They are 29th all time in shootout winning percentage.

If you scroll to the bottom they have Career Shootout Player Stats. I knew Jeff carter was pretty bad at shootouts, but 3/19 is even worse than I expected.

When the great Ken Dryden writes, everyone in hockey should read:

Great article with points I largely agree with. Dryden is thoughtful and articulate as usual.

Great article.

He points out what has been holding us back.

Excuses..."The common explanations — "Because he deserved it" or "Because I can" — are not good enough in this age of concussions and dementia."

and

Fear... "The mediocre will dig in their heels — they fear they can't change — and usually that's enough to stop everything in its tracks. But this time we have no choice".

Great Ken Dryden indeed. Calling for action...."The NHL and Gary Bettman and the NFL and Roger Goodell have an opportunity. This is the moment."

HUGE fan.

I guess this is the best thread to post this and do a little bragging about my nephew :). He is 12 and lives in Hershey, PA. He has been into youth hockey since he can walk. Well he just got invited to an elite tournament in Quebec! Supposedly it is a huge deal. Evidently 1/4 of the kids who play in this tournament make it to the NHL. I know, I know slow your roll Diablo :) but it is a cool stat to throw out. He plays goalie for the Hershey Bears youth team. When he was younger my brother and I used to stick him in goal and pepper the hell out of him...and he loved it. He is so excited play. It is an 11 day event and the best part is it is going to be streamed live on the Internet. I can't wait to watch him. It's in February. Ok, I'm done bragging...as you were 8)
