Yeah, I'm not worried about this week since everyone is still in "overreact" mode right now. I'm definitely looking forward to San Fran this weekend...much more laid back up there.greggsand wrote:I went Saturday. The police-presence was pretty crazy. You literally couldn't go 30 feet without seeing a cop somewhere. Plenty of people is STL-gear (including people with us) & I saw no problems at all. Even the parking was smooth, but it helped the Cards were blowing them out by the 7th inning. We were out of there in 10 minutes. You'll be fine.
EDIT: I just realized this wasn't the MLB thread. LOL. My bad..

Jays were back at the Skydome after a rather poor road trip. Losers of 3 straight games and the Yankees were waiting for them. Bottom of the 9th, J. McDonald makes a beautiful bunt allowing Bautista to score and to tie the game. Two runs come from behind in the 9th against one of the best in the business: Mariano Rivera.
T. Snyder who's been struggling hits a double in the 10th to make the improbable comeback a reality, just the type of game TOR needed to get off their slump.

Re: MLB Season 2011
Wow there were a lot of cops at Dodger Stadium last night. And also, last nights game was awesome...I can deal with going to a game like that and the parking around the stadium. By the time I'm ready to leave, 90% of the stadium is already gone (because the Braves were up 9 runs, lol)...so it's a piece of cake getting out of there. I'm still dreading tonight.

Thank you Mitchell Boggs
Re: MLB Season 2011
in yesterday's game, Colon had the best 'stuff' of any Yankee starting pitcher have viewed this year. Actually, with the exception of a Phil Hughes start (in Oakland) maybe even better then anyone last year.
awesome pitches, for somone Arod hits .600 lifetime against.
keep it up, Bartolo. props

congrats on your Indians. You have to be hyped. And have a right to be.
side note: this week Mike Golic referred to the Indians as "my Indians". First time ever heard him mention the Indians, in nearly 10 years. Dumb jock

Yeah, they’ve been a blast to watch so far. It looks like Hafner and Sizemore are back. I’m shocked about Hafner, I thought for sure he was done. We’ll see how long he can stay healthy. Even if he only plays part-time, we’ll take it. The additions of Orlanda Cabrera and Jack Hannahan have really solidified the infield, which helps our groundball pitchers like Carmona and Masterson. The bullpen has been lights out, especially the closer Chris Perez. If Choo and Santana ever start hitting, watch out!vinny-b wrote:lexbur:

I know it’s early, but it looks like the AL Central could be more wide open than people thought going in to the season. How cool would it be to see the Tribe and Royals still battling for first in September?
Re: MLB Season 2011
Orlando Cabrera (not to be confused with Melky) was an intelligent pick-up. Was actually in favor of the Yankees signing him, and letting Derek Jeter sit out the season. He is a difficult outlexbur wrote:Yeah, they’ve been a blast to watch so far. It looks like Hafner and Sizemore are back. I’m shocked about Hafner, I thought for sure he was done. One of the many reasons I love baseball is that a man with Bartolo Colon's "physique" can go out and dominate at the highest level.vinny-b wrote:in yesterday's game, Colon had the best 'stuff' of any Yankee starting pitcher have viewed this year. That was a thing to watch.

"Ya know, when I first got to camp I figured this team had no chance. I was just hopin’ we’d win enough that I could stay on and really start to build something here. But there’s a lotta talent on this club, Charlie. The veterans are starting to play back to form and the rookies are developing faster than I thought. There’s two or three potential all-stars in there. I think we’re a first division team right now."

at least Greenberg will throw his Jets a bone. Even when they're bad.

Knight's regular season roster is complete, if you're interested, GT
off topic: viewed the new Dodger's throwback/alternate jersey for the first time. They look AWESOME !
Re: MLB Season 2011
Thanks, Vinny. I've got Knight's rosters but Sanchez just got the call up a week or so ago, so I'll have to wait a little bit longer I suppose for some updated rosters to hit.vinny-b wrote: Knight's regular season roster is complete, if you're interested, GT

Who's the idiot that posted that? Perez had converted 16 straight save opportunities going back to last August, then some moron on here jinxes him by posting that yesterday, and sure enough, Perez goes out and blows one last night!!!lexbur wrote:The bullpen has been lights out, especially the closer Chris Perez.

I had the game on the radio at the office -- can't believe how Lohse is pitching. After the last 2 years, I never would've thought we'd see him throwing 9 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, which is close to how he's looked all year. Hopefully we won't effect a Chris Perez-type jinx by talking him up.MizzouRah wrote:Went to the game today.. wow Lohse!!!GTHobbes wrote:...and also to this Sanchez kid, who has looked lights out so far. Very much looking forward to the Reds series this weekend, and to getting some more time in with The Show.

I guess he really was hurt last year. Last year I would have said, oh goodness Lohse is pitching.GTHobbes wrote: I had the game on the radio at the office -- can't believe how Lohse is pitching. You Jays guys gotta be luvin Jose Bautista. Dude is not missing many pitches right now, With last years performance, and this years start,he is becoming one of those players you don't want to miss when he comes to the plate. 2 more bombs today...so far.
Re: MLB Season 2011
So far it's been worth the extra dough he signed for. Doubt he'll match the HR's from last season but you never know...snaz16 wrote:You Jays guys gotta be luvin Jose Bautista.
