If you hadn't heard of it yet, when a fielder jumps to rob a homerun, it can get counted as both a HR and an out. Well, I hadn't seen it before, but it happened to me on the very last play on the game, 3rd out in the bottom of the 9th. Game started freaking out, not knowing what to do. The end of the game music started playing, but the homerun celebration was showing on the scoreboard. Dugouts were showing half end of game stuff, and half home run celebrations. Guys were warping through one another and everything. It just kept doing this over and over, and I couldn't do anything to exit except quit, which cost me a fully played game.
This exact thing will happen in real life if the Cubs win the World Series.

The 'robbed HR' bug would make a great 30 for 30!!!

I am still having a great time with this game. Kinda how I felt about The Show last year. Last night, playing as the Padres in Colorado, I was down 2-4 to the Rockies going into the 9th. With two outs I put 2 on and brought in Cantu to pinch hit who worked a full count and eventually blasted one out for the lead. I then proceeded to blow the lead in the bottom of the ninth as Bell game up a double/single. I went on to win the game in extra innings when I got a HR from Ludwick in the 10th. :D

I'll say this, this game is very unpredictable offense wise this year and that's on default settings. The last few years the offense had trouble scoring unless you changed the CPU offensive sliders. This year is a whole different story. There are some games where I can shutdown the CPU and there are many games where the CPU turns the tables. Overall 2K11 is a nice step forward gameplay wise. :)

I think the default injury setting is out of whack.

In the five games I've played now in Franchise (including the 1 game I lost due to the HR bug) I've lost 4 pitchers to injury. 3 starters and one reliever. Two on 60 day DL, one on 15, and one missing 2 starts.

Rough.

Supposedly they are going to look into the injury thing at 2k. I think the problem is once you get up higher in the pitch count, it's just wayyyy to sensitive for injuries to pitchers. Someone had a theory on OS that maybe Overthrows are causing them. So I've been trying to avoid getting the "overthrown" thing on the pitch meter near the end of games. Not sure if that is making a difference or not......

That would make sense that overthrowing would cause injury.

I love sending and then watching a runner go from first to third on a single to center from this new hitting/baserunning camera view.

I'm my case it definitely wasn't pitch count. Lost most of the pitchers early on (1st, 2nd inning) with very low pitches thrown. I don't know about the overthrow, though. I wasn't paying close attention to that. I'd be a little surprised if that was the case, because I don't throw too many like that, but I'll try playing my next few games making sure I stay on the safe side of that.

Lost the starting pitcher in the next game too, by the way, so that is 5 pitchers out in 6 games for me now!

VERY glad to hear they are looking into this.

played only 1 nine inning game, first impression best described as.......'eh'.

If you played last year, much is same. suffered some stutter on infield pop ups but maybe it was a fluke.

Do like the variety of hits and the ball off the bat feels more real. To be fair, need more time to decide how much better it is than last years.

All in All, I am content because I got the game for 34 bucks. I wouldn't pay 60 for it unless you really need a baseball game.

Funny.. I can't pull the trigger on a $60 game for the 360, but am seriously considering buying a PS3 for a baseball game. ;)

I'm now up to 6 pitchers lost in 8 games (5 starters) so I'm putting this game on ice (along with those half-dozen arms) to focus on The Show, at least until a patch comes out addressing this issue.

I'm finding if I use the non standard camera, the 'batter 1' camera, whenever you make contact is stutters for a second. finding it really annoying. I guess i can use the standard cam but I like the more traditional cam better. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just my xbox?

I'm getting the stutter too, annoying yes, but I am used to it now. Hopefully fixed in a patch.

I actually went out last year and bought a PS3 specifically for MLB the Show 10. I got everything setup and preceeded to play all of about 5 games - as far as gaming goes it was the biggest disappointment of my life. I just couldnt get into it. The game looks amazing, but bored me to tears. I think my biggest complaint surrounds defense - I'd get zero satisfaction making plays in the field and that really bugs me. Eventually I turned to another baseball game someone here in the forum mentioned - PowerPros 2008 for the Wii. Man, that little game was fantastic/underrated. Unfortunately Konami stopped making it here in the states and it's nearly impossible to upgrade rosters so it's ran it's course.

I dont know what to do right now... go back and try The Show 2011 or give MLB 2k11 a shot. Honestly, I'm skeptical either will really do it for me. I still cant believe I sunk $400 bucks on a PS3 and ended up hating the Show. It's possible I didnt give it enough opportunity and need to stick with it longer. Stupid...

MLB Power Pros is one of the better baseball games I have ever played. The AI is cunning, can't get over getting schooled by those little bobble heads LOL. :)

The RPG mode in Power Pros is simply awesome and in it's own way much better than RTTS for The Show. I have no intentions of ever getting rid of MLB Power Pros.

If you couldn't get into any of last years baseball games I seriously doubt things will change this year. I only play RTTS mode, the rest bores me about The Show and the only reason I play MLB2K is because of MLB Today and the commentary.

I bought a PS3 about a year and a half ago just for the show. I was blown away by the game.. Just loved it. I added Little Big Planet and My kids and I loved that game as well.

I ended up selling the ps3 not long after .. Big mistake.

Oh. Power Pros....great game. Wish they would bring it back.

I have the show urge toot his year but will fight it off.

I own HH 2004 for XB but never play it on 360. I've never ventured to find out how to upload the rosters for that game. But that game looks terrific on the 360 since it was one of the early XBOX1 games.

Maybe I'll go back to that but I'll keep trying to give 2k11 a chance.

btw how the hell do you find online modes in 2k11? Is it just ranked exhibition games and online leagues? Do they have some kind of lobby? Bad menu design for online.

I'm really enjoying the pitching in this game this year. With some tweaks to the sliders to lower user pitch control, increase the pitch interface speed and jack up the cpu hitting some, I'm having a great time on the mound and getting the user walks I want. I walked 5 in the last game I played, and one was noticeably of the 'on 4 pitches' variety, where I tried to groove at least 1 or 2 to prevent the walk. This game beats the Show in that regard. (might be the only area, but still  )

If they address the injuries, I could see myself playing seasons in each game this year.

I decided to try the Postseason mode over the weekend and see how far I could get with the Padres. Didn't make it out of the NLDS, but it was fun. Scores:

Braves 3 @ Padres 2
Braves 4 @ Padres 3
Padres 4 @ Braves 0 (Clayton Richard was un-hittable)
Padres 1 @ Braves 2

I'm using modified sliders based off of Blazzens at OS. I use both classic pitching and classic hitting since I'm old. :? I do, however, use analog fielding, as I love the way it works in this game. I was a little disappointed that the atmosphere didn't change at all for a playoff game, but the announcers did talk about the series once it was do-or-die for the Padres. Still, if I can't have perfect crowd reactions, I prefer the subdued MLB2K11 approach over The Show approach where the fans are jumping up and down for virtually every pitch - even in Spring Training.

I'm starting to enjoy this game the more i play it. Like I said before, it's like Madden 11 for me. It's the only licensed game I can get for this sport so I will force myself to enjoy it :)

Can't believe I have to ask this, but where the he** is the "Injury Frequency" slider? I see it on a bunch of the slider sets I have looked at but can't find it in any of the settings. Thanks

IIRC it's a setting you adjust when you begin a franchise, and I'm not sure you can change it once you start one.

My advice is to set it LOW, like 5 or less.

Been tweaking this game quite a bit and playing almost every night, giving me a slider set I think I'm very happy with. I want to play a few more games at the current setting without changing anything, but if nothing gets wacky in those games I'll post the settings here if anyone is interested.

Thanks Web. I just played two games using Blazzen's sliders from OS and had two very different, very good games. Gonna play a few more but looking forward to seeing how they compare to yours when you post them.

I hadn't looked at his sliders yet (I never look at anyone else's sliders before playing around myself) but having just taken a peek now, I think he has some of the most important things right.

Batting contact lowered, Power raised for both you and CPU. Get better variety of hits, more realistic feel and totals.

CPU baserunning aggressiveness jacked way up. Yep, they are too conservative.

CPU lowered strike zone tendency. Otherwise they pound the plate too much.

Player pitcher control @ right around 40. I've been bouncing between 40 and 35. You want to be able to generate some walks due to imprecise control, but yet still have SOME idea/impact on where the ball is heading. 40 coupled with a dangerous CPU offense seems to be the sweet spot.

He mucks around with the running and fielding more than I did, and he really seems to hate the 'shaky cursor' composure effect because he dialed that way the heck down, when mine is more in the middle of the spectrum. I'm also have the player offense a little lower and the cpu offense a little higher, but that's probably just because I'm better.  (and/or I use the Yankees) Seriously, though, we seem to have similar philosophies. Glad you like your results so far!
