I always asked my barber every time I got my hair cut. As I sat in the chair every time, I asked, "Is it time?" The barber is brutally honest. The last time I sat in the chair, I said, "Is it time?" My barber said, "Yes, it's time." I replied: "Let's do it, then. Get the shears and take it all off."
That was it. My wife hated it at first, but it's my head, not hers. I don't tell her what to wear or how to do her hair, and I expect the same courtesy in return. We're adults, after all. Now she loves my chrome dome!
It's not that big of a decision. You're overthinking it. Just do it. If you don't like it, remaining hair will grow back. But I think you will like it.
Another idea: Shave your head for charity. My 10-year-old son is getting his head shaved for the second consecutive year to benefit kids with cancer through the St. Baldrick's Foundation. See if there's a St. Baldrick's event near you in the next two weeks and sign up today. Raise some bucks to help sick kids and get your head shaved to help them. You'll probably also like your new look.
