I thought the cast of characters was really interesting - the guy who did Billy Grey's voice acting was fantastic. I loved the ways the story intersected with MACTEP Sporta's story. Er...sorry, I meant Niko's story, Niko. :)

The credits are also really cool as the show a bunch of different intersecting sequences from the two games.

Just finished it.....That was some really good DLC.

You are right on. I really enjoyed it alot. Good lil story :)

The end credits really do show off the games and the game worlds they created. Beautifully done.

gentlemen:

very late in this game. Picked it up, last week.

have to bump this, and let you all know, i enjoyed checkin everyone's takes in this thread. It had me rollin' :D

was riding in Jackson Heights this morning, and decided i liked someone's black Escalade even better. Pulled the victim from the car, and as i'm driving off homie says "But i need this this car to get pusssy". I felt bad, and was almost ready to turn around and return the vehicle.

Haha...I don't think I've heard that one yet. I wish I had, that's good stuff.

Vinny,

Glad you're enjoying it, if it wasn't for Little Big Planet this would have easily been my game of the year last year. I love the world Rockstar created, the city itself just has so much character and of course, the actual in-game characters are a hoot as well. Looking back my only complaint is that the story drags on a bit at around the 3/4 mark but then picks up at the end.

I'm desperately trying to find time to play through the game again before the second DLC hits.

DB: did you receive the envelope?

Macca & DB: yup. The title is fun. I do miss elements from the past GTA's. For example, Nko walks like a character from Resident Evil 2. However, the vehicles handle much better and the longer day/night cylces work well. Didn't open up manhat or NJ yet. Hoping NJ has a sizable residential section. Shoreside Vale was my fave city in GTA 3

I finished the Ballad of Gay Tony today and was very impressed.

It's totally different theme/mood than Lost and the Damned which was a lot more sombre while BOGT reminds me a lot of GTA San Andreas in that the characters and missions are so crazy and over the top. Speaking of the missions, aside from a few from GTA IV (such as Four Leaf Clover), I think BOGT has the best missions of the three games. The addition of sky-diving is great and adds verticality (is that a word?) to the game and there are more multi-part missions but there's great use of check-points in the missions so it's not frustrating when you get killed.

There's also lots of new weapon types (automatic shotgun with explosive rounds? yes please) and mini-games including neat sky-diving/base-jumping ones.

I also really loved the soundtrack with lots of disco/retro hits.

I didn't finish all of the side missions/tasks and it still took me around 8hrs to finish it. It's funny that I have such a great final impression of the game because I played BOGT right after finishing Uncharted 2 and for the first hour or so I was shocked by just how archaic the 3rd person shooting mechanics in GTA still are. That said, after getting used to the slight clunkyness I was fine and even from the get go I was drawn back into this amazing world that Rockstar has created. I know I'm probably in the minority but Liberty City really feels like a real place to me - often find myself just checking out the cinematic camera view when taking a cab ride and checking out the sights of the city. The radio stations, tv stations, dj's and characters also just draw you in.

EDIT: Oh, and if you get the chance, checkout Princess Robot Bubblegum on the TV in Luis' apartment. It's bloody hilarious.

macca: enjoyed yo take on BOGT. The image you conveyed is what had imagined. If i had a 360, then it would've been a day 1 purchase.

thankful to know you appreciate what Rockstar did (replicating a complete living city and all details). To me, GTA IV is the #1 non-sport game have ever played. The type of title you try to ration, to permit it from not ending.

have heard the princess bubblegum show is hilarous. Did they have a History of Liberty City Part 3, in BOGT? And/or how was it?

Vinny,
I don't think there's a History of Liberty city Part 3 - the only new shows are Princess Robot Bubblegum/Anime Spoof and a new episode of The Men's Room (with Jeremy and Bas). :(

Nice to know you also dig the city/world they've created! With the skydiving there are some missions where you have these amazing views of the city during sunset/sunrise. I'm also wow'ed with the fact that I'm still finding random little things in the world - yesterday when doing a skydiving mission I noticed that during sunrise there's a freakin' guy on top of one of the rocks on the Humbolt River doing a kata/practicing martial arts by himself! It looks like something out of a kung-fu movie!

It makes me really excited about what Rockstar can do with Red Red Revolver 2 - just imagine similar effort put into re-creating the wild west.......

from GTA board. Don't know why, got a kick from it:

I have been playing video games for closing in on 20 years now. I have never had a mission on any video game that I have cussed more than this mission. Up to this point in GTA IV, I have only had to retry one mission more than once. I have attempted paper trail 18 times now. Jacob has probably missed upwards of 40 or so shots and its beginning to piss me off. I even try to hang out with him and then execute him to see if that would change the story at all but to no avail. Anyone have any tips for passing this god forsaken mission?

GTA Liberty City Episodes confirmed to the PS3 & PC, March 30. You knew it was a matter of time

interest in the title, except would prefer vidgame developers leave material like sex-in-the-restroom etc, for the movies. May be in the minority, however don't really like it in videogames.

Hey Vinny,

Didn't bother me as much but indeed there is some gratuitous sex/nudity in both of the episodes. There's a ridiculously gratuitous cock-shot in Lost and Damned I believe.

But don't let a little cock get in the way of two great games. :D

I picked up the PC version of GTA IV as it was $5 at Gamestop (online) on Thanksgiving.

I forgot just how much I love this game. This'll be my third (I think?) playthrough of the original content and I'm loving it - helps that it looks pretty damn good on the PC. The city is just fantastic and feels like a real place, this playthrough when I'm not on a specific mission I'm trying not to look at the minimap to get to places and just drive there from memory and just identifying the landmarks. Pretty neat how within 30 mins you know exactly where to go.

Alright fellas I took the GTA IV plunge. Amazon was selling the Complete Edition for $26. I didn't know which version to get so I ended up ordering both. Which version is best 360 or PS3?

I'll return the unopened version back to Amazon.

Here you go:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... 5-face-off

It compares Episodes from Liberty City and within the text is a link to the original comparison of GTA IV.

Hope that helps.

Yeah I checked that article and it appears the 360 version performs better than the PS3 version. Then you read impressions from those that have played both and the consensus is the PS3 version is better. I'm absolutely confused at this point. :?

They're close enough that you should just pick you system of choice and go with it.

only difference i know is, the title looks a little different (however slightly) on each system. The PS3 has a 'warm' look/haze (think warm2 temperature control on a tv). While the 360 is very clear, as in looking through a window.
