GTA IV
Subway and map information, along with the PS3 controls. Man, this game is huge! I'm thinking I might just be a bit overwhelmed with the size of the maps.

Crazy multiplayer, the game will have, including lots of zany modes. Take that into consideration.Slumberland wrote:That is great, thanks for the link! I spend a lot of time in Flushing Meadow Park, and never thought it'd get the video game treatment.
I still have no idea which platform to get this for.
I did...I have it preordered for the 360...Zeppo wrote:Crazy multiplayer, the game will have, including lots of zany modes. 360 for me.
Multi player will be better and call me skeptical but since this game was basically delayed because of the PS3 development I'm not expecting that version to run as well as the 360 version.

The map doesn't seem larger. Well it seems to have two more areas than the other GTA games. GTA 3 had three main areas. What I mean is, although they added more area to the map, if you look at street detail it doesn't seem like they added a lot of streets, back alleys etc.
I thought they would have New York names. I don't know where I got that. Anyway it looks like the city is like New York but with generic New York names. Dukes for Queens, Middle Park for Central Park. Broker for Brooklyn or the Bronx.

While I do believe multi-player is going to be excellent, this is one game judging from past history, will have a very good single player experience. So, while I might be a little envious of you 360 owners, I'm confident that I'll be spending hours of enjoyment exploring GTA IV.
I hope the PS3 performs just as well as the 360 for the obvious reason I only own a PS3. Just my preference, I enjoyed the PS2 experience of GTA better than on the Xbox. I think the main reason was that I was more used to the controls. Here's hoping there's no problems with either the 360 or PS3.

I find it difficult to buy games for the 360 right now when I've got a PS3 sitting right next to it. The ever present thought of the 360 dying again has taken over my buying decisions. So, even though there might be more people online with the 360, I don't really play online all that much anymore anyway, so it doesn't make sense to go 360. Not to mention, the PS3 runs cooler and in the summer...I don't need another heat source besides the sun and my pc heating up my office.
Hopefully the PS3 version is technically equal to the 360 version...I'm not betting on it yet since it seems like most cross platform games are slightly better on the 360. We'll see I guess.

That thought crosses my mind and weighs into my descions too but ...the Live, the controller and the fear of an inferior port are winning out at this time.dbdynsty25 wrote:I find it difficult to buy games for the 360 right now when I've got a PS3 sitting right next to it. Either IGN or Gamspot (only 2 game sites I really visit) had GTA impressions and mentioned frame rates & the ps3. Something like "we hope this will be addressed before the final build". That's rarely a good thing to read...
I'm pumped for this game. This is 2k's hail mary. It better not be a flop(aka recalling discs, serious 'game stopping' bug requiring an emergency patch that takes 3 weeks, horrible reviews) or 2k is in serious trouble. You know the stockholders are nervous as hell.
The online sounds interesting, but so did the online for Saint's Row. I hope CJ has a cameo - I miss the that dude.
If you're nervous about buying games for the 360 because you're scared it might break, whats the point of having it (or not having an extended warranty)??

Because it's already been replaced twice. It has a warranty...for a little while longer anyway. It's a launch unit.greggsand wrote:If you're nervous about buying games for the 360 because you're scared it might break, whats the point of having it (or not having an extended warranty)??
And it's not nervous per se...it's just that if all things are equal, why on earth would I buy a game for the system that could blow up at any moment (and has twice before)?

Much enjoyment this game will bring. A lot of fun we will have. Can't wait I just. A real jedai it will make you...Zeppo wrote:Crazy multiplayer, the game will have, including lots of zany modes. Big GTA fan here and I've got my copy pre-ordered but only cause I didn't know what else to do with my $10's left on a gift card for GS. Those Game Stop employees have absolutely no shame in getting you to pre-order something. This guy went so far as to bust out this giant folder and start reading aloud all the good games coming out (without provocation by me).
oh and I'm 360 all the way!

Achievements don't make a difference for you. Thats usually why I buy games for the 360. Oh yea, I don't have a PS3 just yet. But when I get my PS3 the only games I'll be buying for it are MLB 08 and Hot Shots Golf.dbdynsty25 wrote:I find it difficult to buy games for the 360 right now when I've got a PS3 sitting right next to it. I'm very anxious to play this online. Some DSP Poker Nights with this game will be great. I haven't been on the 360 for a while because I have been super busy with work and coaching my baseball squad but I will get online with GTA if it delivers. Some of those MP modes look awesome.

Do you get some kind of reward with achievements that I don't? I've got 9000+ and all it's gotten me is a nice number on the little gamertag post next to my name. yeah, I know what you're saying, but there is something addictive about that little green "bloop" that comes up when u least expect it. And in GTA, you know there will be a bunch of ridiculous "smack around 5 five hookers" achievements. Good times.... It's not about the score, but that little extra layers of challenge. Eh, u either 'dig' it or you don't I guess...dbdynsty25 wrote:Do you get some kind of reward with achievements that I don't? You get the same thing from those achievements as you do from anything else in gaming...Now think really hard...
No, I can't say that I do. But I also understand where you're coming from. But when I get the notification of doing something/getting something for it, it just makes the game sweeter.dbdynsty25 wrote:Do you get some kind of reward with achievements that I don't? Macca, I agree. I've been waiting for this game for such a long time, it sometimes feels as if I've already played it, and put it away. We are now at the point where almost all the details have been either released or leaked, so I probably can't say anything most of you don't already know.
I wish it was released earlier, because EURO 08 will come out two weeks later and I will have to make choices and sacrifices. And no, it's not a good problem to have, it's very nerve-racking.
Those are the sites, I feel have the most info about the game.
