Fifa World Cup 2010

Presentation of the game was a little meh for me, but what I liked so far is the pace of the game. Haven't tried 'Captain your country' yet but I assume it's a lot like 'Be a Pro'. Keepers no longer charge off the line towards lone, incoming strikers and chip shots are harder to make this time around.
The Refs are not as keen in blowing the whistle as 2010 and overall I like what I see so far.

I DL'd the World Cup demo, and have enjoyed it for a change of pace. I've never owned a soccer game before, and have been starting at beginner mode trying to get the feel for the game (as well as the rules). I know its early for this game, but what game would you all suggest between this title and Fifa 10 ? Demo wise I seem to be able to move the ball easier in W.C.,but it sounds that from some of you that W.C. is a little tougher. Also for what little soccer I've watched, I have enjoyed watching the "Premier League",and if all things being relatively equal, I'd get Fifa 10 just for the amount of teams, etc. W.C. I understand has 9 stadiums ? How many does Fifa have, and just 1 more question if I may, could I play out a Premier League season thru Fifa ? Thanks in advance for any questions you guys can answer for this newbie to soccer.

Don't think it's tougher. I think there's more scoring which bothers me.
Defense is a mixed bag as it's nearly impossible to contain anyone or shut down passing lanes.
There's far too many times that you can get behind the defense for a 1 on 1 with the keeper.
Overall I find it blah and just not fun. That doesn't mean it's bad but there's something missing from the game and I don't know what it is.

I created a guy on the U.S. team. Now granted I'm playing Guatemala, T&T and Cuba but I have a hat-trick in my last three games.10spro wrote:I started yesterday the captain your country mode playing for 'Montenegro' and after two games, I have yet to score. Had good chances though.
The game just seems thrown together at times. For example Landon has been dropped to being on squad the level down from subs but starts every game. This in in CYC mode.
I somewhat regret buying the game. I think with so many teams that game would capture some fun on WC 98, sadly it just feels stale and easy.

JRod- what difficulty level and do you play with all manual controls? If you are playing on atleast world class with all manual controls and it is still way too easy for you then more powr to you. If you haven't tried all manual controls you need to.

Yeah I'd like to know that as well. I play on semi-pro and I get low scoring games. If JRod is playing on Professional or World Class then i'd hate to play him online.TheTruth wrote:JRod- what difficulty level and do you play with all manual controls? I was playing the CYC mode on World Class as a Strike. I bumped it up to Legendary and found little difference though we somehow managed to lose to Costa Rica at home. I scored a goal and they scored 2. The only difference was that my team couldn't hold onto the ball.Rodster wrote:Yeah I'd like to know that as well. I play on semi-pro and I get low scoring games. I play all manual except for passing which is semi-assist. With the camera in CYC always turning, manual passing seems to harder than it should be.
So far I have 16 goals through late 2009 in all games. I don't do any tricks, all I do is I get into space and make diagonal runs. It helps that the CPU knows to pass to me when I'm open.
After playing on legendary for a few games, I have to take back some of what I said. I've played on legendary on both the CYC and Road to the Finals - team mode.
After a stint with Holland losing in the quarters and taking England to the Semis before I had to quit -- the game seems to play fairer and better than ever before on Legendary. There was virtually no cheating, no lame passes to a player the kicks through a defender for a super volley top corner goal. And for the most part all the through pass goals one-on-one goals have stopped well atleast you have to play it right.
Here's a small run down of my extended impressions.
-Teams have mostly the same styles. No minnow plays route one football while keeping 10 men behind the ball.
-Teams do seem to have a collective ability. As England, I whipped Germany 3-nil but I wouldn't say it felt like i had control. Shots were even, possession was even and tackles were even. Yet playing Uruguay, I dominated in all categories.
-And some teams are able to maintain control better.
- Star plays are good and the CPU seems to give the ball to them for the most part. You aren't going to see C. Ronaldo force the ball but the AI does seem to work to star players as their touches and passes are higher than other players (check out the player rating screens.)
-Game may be too easy. I'm playing Legendary.
- Not enough long shots as the AI will try to often to pass it into the back of the net.
- And the game is still too much like other FIFA's, the only way the game is played is to close down and shoulder tackled to play defense. I'm beginning to hate this.

Well it really depends. FIFA WC has some additions and plays a pretty good spot of football. The problem is that there just isn't much to do in between games. So all you do is play qualifying games or in the cup but even then it doesn't capture the emotion and feel of the games. I'm not talking presentation but the ebb and flows of the WC games. If it did that I would still be playing it.
I think you could get more out of FIFA 10 and that would take you through out the WC.

I am really just interested in the gameplay and playing out games.JRod wrote:Well it really depends. FIFA WC has some additions and plays a pretty good spot of football. Don't really care about what there is to do "in between games". I just want the game that's more fun to play.....simple.
What I meant was that there's not a lot of creating a sense of the tournament. Three's little snippets but it really feels like playing a bunch of exhibition games. But my expectations differ in terms of how I want the CPU to play.
I think you could get enough out of rental before you bought it. Or if you have gamefly, then I would go with FIFA WC to get your fill of the WC.

Jack...I was in the same boat awhile back and picked up Fifa 10. Its got all the teams from MLS thru S. America, and all the Euro teams,Premier L. and lower echelon teams in England as well. And all the country teams. You can't really go wrong with it for a pick up and play. And probably pick it up cheaper than WC.JackB1 wrote:I am really just interested in the gameplay and playing out games.JRod wrote:Well it really depends.
