Agreed...as one of the commenters puts it, there goes $60 and a year of my life.Danimal wrote:http://kotaku.com/5474750/civilization- ... -this-fall

Civ IV has both versions on the disk if I recall. At least I recall playing it on my Mac Laptop. Perhaps I had XP running, now I can't recall.TheCentralScrutinizer wrote:Anyone played any of the Civ series on a mac? If so, are they just lame ports, or good distinct versions? I've never played on anything but a PC, but there may be a macbook pro entering my life between now and the time this game comes out.
Give me some impressions!Danimal wrote:Got mine pre-ordered and pre-loaded off of Steam. Expect to be playing this tonight I hope.

So I'm guessing I should just keep DX9 loaded and not go to 10?Danimal wrote:Initial Impression is Wow!![]()
Only issue is it is a little laggy in DX10 so I switched to Dx9 mode
Not sure i understand your question. When you launch the game it asks you to either launch in DX10/11 or DX9. I've run much more graphically intensive DX10 games with no problem so I am not sure what the issue is with this game. But DX9 version with everything on high runs like butter.MizzouRah wrote:So I'm guessing I should just keep DX9 loaded and not go to 10?Danimal wrote:Initial Impression is Wow!![]()

Best enhancements so far
- No unit stacking
- Units can do their own naval movement
- Policy choices are fun
- GUI is outstanding
Performance seems fine to me but I'm not sure what kind of system you have. Most of the complaints I hear are about poor AI and balance issues. It seems that Military Victory is much easier to obtain than anything else. There is less micro-management and a lot of the hardcore fans really miss that. They released a patch that was supposed to address some of these issues but I haven't played it since then.Rodster wrote:I've been thinking of buying this game but have read a lot of negatives about the game such as "poor system performance i.e. slowdowns, stupid AI, boring". For those that have and played the game is the above true?
Thank you! Sorry, I always forget to look at my new PM's. Email sent!Macca00 wrote:Taken. Mizzou - can you PM me.
