Cyberpunk doesn't require fantasy, at least not in the Shadowrun 'Dragons & Magic' sense.

It's generally a gritty-future setting with high technology...sci-fi 'down on the streets'.

Thank you I was incorrect. I read Cyberpunk but my mind was thinking Steam punk.webdanzer wrote:Cyberpunk doesn't require fantasy, at least not in the Shadowrun 'Dragons & Magic' sense.

No, he was referring to the original RPG, not the groundbreaking, exquisitely balanced, superb and unsurpassed online multiplayer shooter that was carved out of the original IP's fiction, much to the dismay of many an original SR RPG fan.Macca00 wrote: Now that Dan has mentioned Shadow Run, Zeppo is contractually obligated to post in this thread.
And to me, Cyberpunk begins and ends with Gibson. It's the melding of internet and computer communications and information technology with the gritty street ethos that makes cyberpunk unique. At least I think so. Blade Runner didn't have anything to do with computers, really, while cyberpunk is all about how computer technology affects and interacts with culture.
But I'm talking out of my ass on this one. The only Gibson I really enjoyed was Neuromancer.
So you're still on the fence about what you think about the game?Zeppo wrote:not the groundbreaking, exquisitely balanced, superb and unsurpassed online multiplayer shooter that was carved out of the original IP's fiction.
I never played the original Shadowrun RPG - that was on the SNES, right? Worth picking up to play on emulators?
