know several of you, are fans of the original. Unfortunatley, never played it. It sucked not bein a pc gamer. By the way, what is a cyberpunk setting?

fantasy and sci fi mixed together.

The original was great, sequel was not good at all.

Honestly I wish someone would make an up to date Shadow Run RPG.

Cyberpunk doesn't require fantasy, at least not in the Shadowrun 'Dragons & Magic' sense.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk

It's generally a gritty-future setting with high technology...sci-fi 'down on the streets'.

Thank you I was incorrect. I read Cyberpunk but my mind was thinking Steam punk.

My bad, I'm just in a sour mood because my game of Runewars was canceled tonight :(

Cyberpunk = Blade Runner (at least for me)

Played the first Deux Ex and loved it - it was just at the tail end of when I stopped playing PC games. Missed the second game. Sounds interesting.

Now that Dan has mentioned Shadow Run, Zeppo is contractually obligated to post in this thread.

Deus Ex - Favorite. Game. Ever.

Ok, maybe that's a stretch (I did play Baseball Stars) but it's in my top 5 alltime.

No, he was referring to the original RPG, not the groundbreaking, exquisitely balanced, superb and unsurpassed online multiplayer shooter that was carved out of the original IP's fiction, much to the dismay of many an original SR RPG fan.

And to me, Cyberpunk begins and ends with Gibson. It's the melding of internet and computer communications and information technology with the gritty street ethos that makes cyberpunk unique. At least I think so. Blade Runner didn't have anything to do with computers, really, while cyberpunk is all about how computer technology affects and interacts with culture.

But I'm talking out of my ass on this one. The only Gibson I really enjoyed was Neuromancer.

So you're still on the fence about what you think about the game?

:)

I never played the original Shadowrun RPG - that was on the SNES, right? Worth picking up to play on emulators?
