DSP Madden 10 Online Franchise: Free Agent Thread

Just a quick comment about the franchise tag.

What do you think about some sort of compensation applied to a team that loses a player that was assigned the franchise tag? In the real NFL if you sign a player that has the franchise tag, you have to give up two 1st rounders to the team that loses him.

Granted, two 1st rounders might be a bit hefty in a league like this, not to mention, a pain to track. But since this FA period is taking place just before the draft, what about having to give up one pick from the coming rookie draft? A 1st or 2nd maybe? A 3rd might be a little too low.

I don't want to stop franchisees from changing teams entirely, but seems like there should be a little more to help the franchising team to keep him.

I like the way you're thinking, but I don't think there's any reliable way to deal with trades of draft picks with this system. With a :60 time limit per round, it would be too easy to end up with a 'no pick' CPU decisioni stead of the team receiving the traded pick getting what he wants.

Butaybe some other kind of compensation can be thought of.
