The Jets have a chance if they dominate the turnover equation and Sanchez has an efficient, turnover-free game.
"Ground and pound" chews up a lot of clock, and the best way to minimize Manning is to keep him on the bench, looking at photos faxed from upstairs. See "New York Giants' Super Bowl win over the Bills" for a perfect blueprint.

I don't like R. Ryan. Having said that, no one gave them a chance in these playoffs yet here they are in the AFC game winning two in a row. Who would have thought? Interesting how they got here though. They broke IND winning streak, then they lose at home to ATL, no one gives'em a chance, and they sneaked in the playoffs. I thought Sanchez showed a lot of composure for a rookie in that TD, but against the Colts he'll have to pass more than 100 yards unless the Jets running game as good as it is tears the Colts D apart.
I just don't see the Jets winning this one, I rooted for them last night but Colts will advance to the SB.

Regardless the point is the same, I'm not saying the Jets can't beat Indy but if they go down by more then 10 they are done.vinny-b wrote:two. The other was 57 yardsDanimal wrote:Lets not go overboard on the Jets dominance, the kicker missed 3 make able field goals.

It's been a particularly unexciting playoff stretch this year. Only the Pack-Cards and Jets-Chargers have been exciting. Even Jets-Bungles, while close, was a pretty dull game.lexbur wrote:I'm just grateful to the Jets for being the only road team able to step up and give us a competitive game to watch this weekend. The first three games weren't even worth watching. And this is supposed to be the NFL's most exciting weekend?
Here's hoping the championship weekend is more entertaining.
Two of those kicks were in his range especially for a Pro Bowl kicker. If he made two of those kicks the outcome would have gone to SD. I would not want to be THAT GUY in the locker room after the game as Jim Rome likes to say.wco81 wrote:Those missed FGs were a big deal. Allowed the Jets to bide their time and pound away, which led to the big run.
Also with more of a lead, maybe the Chargers don't throw out of their end zone and throw that pick, which led to the go-ahead TD.
HipE: noticed the following on the Jets board. Although excellent running backs often last till Round 3, in the NFL draft. I am still suprised, Shonn Greene was available when the Jets selected. As had stated in a past thread, he was the #1 RB on their draft board. Furthermore:
"If you listen to Mike Lombardi on today's Simmons podcast, 35 minute mark of part I podcast, Lombardi tells Simmons that the Colts and Bill Polian were a HAIR away from taking Shonn Greene in the first round over Donald Brown. They didn't decide on Brown until last minute"
(note: the Colts selected Donald Brown in Round 1)

Chan F*cking Gailey. Another retread from the NFL coaching carousel comes to Buffalo.
When the hell will Ralph Wilson open his wallet wide enough and hire a front office sage enough to attract a real head coach?
This is very deflating, especially when you consider how many guys rejected the job, even after interviewing:
Bill Cowher (interviewed)
Jim Harbaugh (interviewed)
Leslie Frazier
Brian Schottenheimer (refused to interview)
Ron Rivera
Buffalo is the black hole of the NFL. Guts me inside-out.

when returning from Michigan over Thanksgiving via way of Buffalo, the talk on the local radio was Mike Shanahan and the Bills. And you had come to the mind.
from Shanahan to Chan Gailey. Pathetic. Bills fans do not deserve this
Why your not implying Gay-lee are you?vinny-b wrote:in addition to a dorky name.Rodster wrote:Wow Chan Gailey. Hopefully i'm wrong but Chan Gailey has never impressed me as an NFL caliber HC.

p.s. Nice hire by the Phins as Mike Nolan is once again reunited with The Tuna.

Exactly. LT hasn't be relevant in the playoffs...well, EVER. And he hasn't been relevant in the regular season in at least two years.Danimal wrote:Irrelevant.JackB1 wrote:LT had like 20 yards on about 10 carries. 730 yards and 12 TD's with a 3.5 yds per carry isn't exactly lighting it up, but its no small change either. But yes, I agree with you. The Jets outstanding defense rendered LT and the Chargers running game irrelevant last Sunday.Danimal wrote:Irrelevant.JackB1 wrote:LT had like 20 yards on about 10 carries. You quoted something and then made a point which had nothing to do with each other.JackB1 wrote:730 yards and 12 TD's with a 3.5 yds per carry isn't exactly lighting it up, but its no small change either. The fact remains the kicker missed 2 field goals, how many yards LT had or didn't have is irrelevant to my point.
The Jets played a stellar game, the Chargers did not and the Jets came away with a 3 point win, I don't exactly call that dominating but if you do more power to you.

I never used the word "dominating". Someone else did. The Jets were somewhat lucky that the SD kicker missed 2 FG's, but FG's shouldn't be counted on as "automatic". They do get missed from time to time and sometimes a team has to overcome mistakes by their kicker, QB, defense or whatever. The Chargers could not. The Jets kept them out of the red zone most of the game and for that you have to give them credit.Danimal wrote:You quoted something and then made a point which had nothing to do with each other.JackB1 wrote:730 yards and 12 TD's with a 3.5 yds per carry isn't exactly lighting it up, but its no small change either. My point was....... that the Jets didn't win only because of the missed field goals. Those missed field goals became huge only because of how well the Jets played the entire game. Blame the Chargers for not being able to get into the end zone and relying on their kicker to bail them out.
