Blog Blitz is pretty cool. There's a group of bloggers for each team, so you can get a nice fan perspective on the teams.

As for last night's Chicago debacle, Chicago doesn't have the worst line in the league, but they do possibly have the worst group of run blockers in the league. The pass protection has been pretty good. Granted, the offense is designed to get rid of the ball quickly, so there's no need to hold blocks for long, but Cutler usually has time to find his receivers.

The run blocking, though, is just brutal. No push, no holes, no fire. The goal-line failure was telling: 3rd and 1, and Kreutz and Omiyale couldn't open a hole double-team one tackle, and then on 4th and 1, they run the toss, which is a white flag that you have no confidence in your running game. Ugh.
totally agree. I have no blame at this point for the Bears RB's...it's all on the O Line at this point. Just awful.
I don't see the issues as mutually exclusive. Forte's been shitty. In addition to the fumbling he's dropped a bunch of passes, doesn't seem to be hitting the few holes that he does get, and isn't getting to the corner with any speed whatsoever.

Hell even Wolfe has looked more dangerous in spots, and that guy's an arena league player! I hope the Bears don't get complacent when evaluating Forte and assume that he's less effective this year solely because of the OL.

PK, the feeling on that 4th and 1 was more like a 2x4 across the solar plexus, but you're close! :)

New England is good, Miami is good (keep watching). With so many absolutely horrible teams out there it makes even the good teams look bad (see Philly against Oakland, lol).

I totally disagree, they can block well in some spots for pass blocking but if you go back and watch that game just for the line play you're going to see more whiffs on blocks and linemen just standing around looking confused then I think you would expect.

Hell one guy ran right by his block on a screen because it would of been a little hard to get to. They are bad at blitz pick up and run blocking is beyond pitiful. I wanted to throw up in my mouth last night when Smith said the Falcons were hard to run on and sometimes it's not there but their run game is fine.

Fine? FINE!?!

They had 2 weeks to prepare and that is the effort they gave last night, run game worse, defense confused at times. I am not the biggest Cutler fan but if he wasn't the QB they would be win less right now.

The Bears line is not good but they are far from the worst. They're not even the worst in their division -- the Packers and Lions lines are much more f***ed up than the Bears. Cutler has gotten decent protection most of the time. The short passing game and his mobility certainly cover up some mistakes, but their pass blocking isn't bad.

They obviously need fresh blood on that line, though, players who can fire off and drive defenders back. I really don't see Forte as the problem. He looks tentative because there are no holes to hit most of the time. He had a play last night where he bounced outside and showed the same quickness and vision he had last year. He is making mistakes to be sure, but I imagine some of that has to be out of frustration. If he could get holes consistently, I think he'd hit them. There's so little push that he can't get momentum past the line -- no RB is going to be successful when that happens.

At this point in the season, I just think it's funny that our complaints on offfense have little/nothing to do with the receivers.

Dear Jay Cutler,

Thanks for letting me see what a real offensive line and system is like.

In your debt always.

I still would have Cutler over Orton. I guess we'll see what kind of QB he is in the playoffs. Though have a defense makes you look a lot better.

Orton's not a bad quarterback, just a limited one. Cutler is better at every aspect of the game, but that doesn't mean that Orton doesn't have his uses. As long as he's not called upon regularly to make long completions, he'll be good. He very accurate up to about 12 yds, and anything after that is a bit of a prayer.

This isn't news, btw. It was exactly how he played at Purdue.

There's no question that Cutler is a better all-around QB, but Orton is playing very smart football right now. He's not making many mistakes and playing within his ability. Couple that with a solid two-headed running game and the best defense in the league, and that's a pretty good recipe for success.

The most surprising thing is that the players seem to love playing for McDaniels. Winning certainly helps, but the about-face this team took once the season started is pretty amazing.

I never said Orton was better then Cutler, if I ever say that feel free to ignore my posts for the rest of my life.

Simply pointing out the fact that many Bears rejects seem to do better in other places, usually places with Offensive Lines and decent Offensive systems.

Me bitching about the Bears O-Line and more specifically Ron Turner (who must have photos of someone) is nothing new.

Danimal, you're obviously in good company when it comes to criticizing Turner. I've just never gotten it. He's always struck me as thoroughly competent. Not a genius, not innovative, but professional and adequate.

If I were to list the top 10 problems for this team he wouldn't even be near the list. Every OC makes a dubious call now and then, but I think that given the OL he has to work with and the fact that he's working with a new QB and a ton of inexperienced WR's who are poor route runners, I think he's done a fine job.

Apparently I'm in the minority on this one.

Rams get blasted by the Colts 42- 6 to extend their league leading losing streak to 17.17? Ya 17. Expected a bad day ...but still f***in hard to watch this garbage.

The Rams have scored 60 points in 7 games. This has been double and triple checked. It is 60 f***in points in 7 games.
The offense has scored 5 TDs and given up 4 TDs in these 7 games.

Its sad to think about. The Colts 42 points is just 18 short of that 60 the Rams have scored in 7 games. Incredible futility.

Not to put it all on that offense. The defense isnt making any friends. They have given up 211 points. up Best example and I know Manning doesnt get sacked. After 7 games Im still waiting for, that waste of a uniform, Long to get his first sack of the season. I kinda figured he might be an east coast overhyped, son of a somebody bust but so far hes been worse than my worst fears...

Watching Marc Bulger, aka the human sack machine, play...

Negatives:

Weak arm/girly man
Lacks aggresiveness/Gutless
Lack of football IQ/f***in idiot.
Lack of athletic ability/ Slow assed b*tch
Lack of leadership/f***in p***y

Positives:

Best they have/Terrible front office.
Nice guy?

The Rams will take their 17 game losing streak and their - 151 point differential after 7 games to Detroit next week. That should be a special game.

Go Rams? :P
