NFL Season 2009

When I looked at the 2009 schedule, I had the Bears game marked down as one of the 4-6 Steelers' losses, but it doesn't make it any easier. A road loss out of conference isn't a killer, but you never like to lose games you don't trail until the end. Especially when Baltimore looks very much like a Super Bowl contender again. There is plenty of blame to go around for the Steelers, but give the Bears kudos for never letting the game get out of control, minimizing mistakes, and winning at the end.
Denver surprises me at 2-0 even given their schedule. Tennessee is one of the better teams of late to start at 0-2, although there are obvious problems in the secondary and with the pass rush.
I love the Red Zone HD channel, but last week must have been a free preview since I had to pony up the $50. I'll miss one or two weeks due to travel and I will only watch 2-3 hours on Sundays (love doing other things with the family) but it's still good entertainment value at approximately $1-2 per hour.

Also an added bonus I dont have to listen to some of the lame announcing teams for long stretches.
Speaking of lame...when is ESPN going to put that tub of s*** Berman out to pasture? He just plain sux ass.
Berman is pretty damn bad. He is a classic example of right place, right time. Zero appeal.XXXIV wrote:Ive only had it two for two weeks and Comcast, the cheap bastards, still dont have it in HD but I have no idea how I lived without it...Love that whip around...Leebo33 wrote:

Ding-ding! Agree 100 percent. Berman has become so unbearable that he's almost a caricature of himself, much like Madden in his final days with FOX. I think Michaels helped re-energize Madden, forcing him to work harder and rely less on the "BOOM, look he's dirty and muddy!" schtick.Diablo25 wrote:Berman is pretty damn bad. I like the MNF trio of Tirico, Jaws and Chucky, though. Good team so far.
Take care,
PK

That Dolphins game was embarrassing. I thought Pennington was a vet...doesn't he know how to manage the f*cking clock? I'm not sure who was worse, Pennington and his clock management, or the 3rd and 6 call inside the Colt 30 w/ 4 min. left and just deciding to run it and take the field goal, giving Manning 4 min. to score a TD to win the game. Has any situation been such a mortal lock to be a bad one? I can't think of one if there is.
I found it embarrassing from a defensive point of view but I thought the coaching staff did their job remarkably well. To have such a lopsided T.O.P. where Indy had the ball for like 20% of the game says a lot.dbdynsty25 wrote:That Dolphins game was embarrassing. You have got to make tackles in the open field and not blow your assignments, those two things did the Dolphins in. You can't let Payton Manning score within 3 minutes. The Indy defense was gassed beyond belief and the Wildcat worked very well. Teddy Ginn should have caught the go ahead score late in the game. There were a lot of things the Dolphins did right but the secondary was atrocious once again. I expect that from Vonte Davis and Sean Smith but not the other veterans on the team. Still it was a game the Dolphins could have and should have one so i'm not to down on Chad. The only thing late in the game was running the ball with under 1 minute and no timeouts. But again Teddy Ginn makes that endzone catch and the Dolphins would have won the game with something like 30 seconds left.
Ya...With another score, Boller has now doubled his TD output for two games in two drives. Time to give someone else a shot.MizzouRah wrote:Finally, Boller into the game!XXXIV wrote:Bulger gest hurt and the Rams score their 2nd TD of the season. Coincidence?...I think not sirs. I think not

Boller might not be your prototypical QB, but at least you can tell he has heart. He doesn't walk around with slumped shoulders and a quiet demeanor. I'm not saying he's the answer, but maybe Boller can spark a little life in to this team. So far, so good.
On a side note, his overall rating might go up in Madden!

Just another Rams sunday....They are simply the worst.
Redskins...tsk tsk tsk... Shame on you for stealing the Rams destiny in breaking the Lion's streak. Now they will just have to go 0-16 themselves.
Vikings win was incredible...WOW!...Just wow.
Texans. That was sad at the end.
Jets. Im sure glad the Rams didnt draft Sanchez.
Giants and Ravens....I know the Bucs and Browns blow but they have been pretty damn good all 3 weeks. Super Bowl?

Happy Birthday! ...Zeppo wrote:Well, it looks like it's official. Danny Snyder has his wish. The Redskins are the worst team in the NFL.
Mr. Snyder, thank you for ruining my birthday, and you can please go to hell.
Sincerely,
I mean it. Sincerely. Go to hell you worthless, greedy piece of s***.
I feel your pain and I do appreciate the sentiments but as long as the Rams are around the Skins can only be second worst.
Dont get me wrong. I was glad he missed those kicks I hate the Seahawks10spro wrote:Tell me about. That missed FG before halftime hurts now and Seneca who was playing rather well sidearms that football that he should at worst, thrown away. Hope that D stays tough, I think SEA can hang in there.XXXIV wrote:Are the Bears drugging opponents FG kickers?

There ya go. He is all better now.

Edit: What is with those unis? I have to watch the game with sun glasses on.
Looks like the Dolphins have finally met reality, they are not an 11-5 team and can't play at that level. Chad Henne was no better than Pennington. Now they are faced with a really bad season and possibly looking at a 5-11 season which is what I thought they really are.

Good win Bears. Not great but with the Vikings luck
and the Packers beating the lambs every win is a good one.
With the Lion's win, those same lambs have the longest losing streak in the league at 13...EDIT: and they will NOT be alright.
Bengals 2-1 ...Should be 3-0 but for that Bronco miracle.
Speaking of Bronco miracles. They are 3-0 with Kyle Orton.
Saints keep on a rolling.

Well, in the end those missed FG's were costly. But kudos to the Bears for hanging there and challenging the zebras fumble decision before HT, that seemed to give them life after being down 0-13.
And those alternate jerseys were ugly, in the beginning it was doing the trick blinding those Bears, but it didn't last.

So this is what it's like having a real NFL QB? Put me down as in favor of the concept.
Favre cannot drop dead fast enough. I swear I will write a check to the DE who finally buries the little A-hole once and for all. He's like a bad case of herpes.

Bears win and shouldn't have but I'll take it.
Worst offensive coordinator in the league thought I think. Most important series of the second half and you run it to Garrett Wolf 3 times in a row? I mean Garrett f***in Wolf? The guy shouldn't even be on the roster.
I just have to know who Ron Turner has photos of.

Same shoulder Chad has had 2 surgeries already. Probably on IR and yeah if it's Henne then it'll go down to a 4-12 season. The only positive is that Pat White will still be the backup so he can come in for the Wildcat and allow Henne to come back in the game.dbdynsty25 wrote:Henne would have been fine had his receivers caught the ball (cough Ginn). We'll be fine. Started 0-2 last year too...but did have an easy schedule. They'll be 7-9, 8-8 if Pennington is back, 5-11, 4-12 if it's Henne learning the rest of the season.
Btw stupid QB rule on what order a QB is allowed to come into a game. Once Henne came into the game neither Pat White or Pennington were allowed to re-enter the game.
