I do believe it was Maria, but for some reaons I was thinking it was Anna. The reason being is that she was only rated three stars. I thought Sharapova was one of the top players in her prime.

That sucks because if you're feeling anything like me I am super addicted. First game, especially sports game, that I have felt like that in a long time. Played a bunch of online doubles with my step-daughter last night. Great stuff.
Just remember, though: The Wii is a kid's toy, not a serious gaming platform.
P.S.: I feel the same way about Wii Sports bowling that you do about Grand Slam Tennis. I've never tired of playing it. I'm very eager to try Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger 10 with M+.
Take care,
PK
I have a feeling you're going to realy enjoy GST (and Tiger). Anxious to hear your thoughts. GST is really incredible. I can't say enough about it! I sincerely hope everyone else is able to see the genius and beauty of this game although I am concerned a lot will do what I intially did.
Is it me or is anyone else finding the first game of the first 3 game set to be a gift from the CPU. Meaning, it seems like in a singles Play Now offline game, the CPU doesn't play as well in the first game of the set. After the first game however, all bets are off. Maybe it's all in my head after seeing those darn pictures!
Edit: I should say I'm playing on Easy. Maybe it's different on the upper levels.
Playing on medium, I just can't beat the AI using the nunchuk. The CPU has way too many clean crosscourt winners before even you can react. And it just seems that the extra controller doesn't respond as well as on the easy level, making me think that the connection was loose.
So when I am positioned to hit a forehand, sometimes because of the lag on the nunchuk, my player ends up hitting an awkward backhand that the opponent reads cleverly and ends the rally easily. Again that's on medium level.
But because playing with the nunchuk is the way to go, I decided to go back to easy for now.
The game is still lots of fun playing with friends, wished there was more ooomph on the serves.
Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but the camera angle on this game is the best that I have seen in any of the tennis games out there.

I played a bunch with the nunchuk and got pretty comfortable with it, but ultimately I think I have more fun without it. Only about 2% of the time have I had the AI put me in what I thought was a poor position for a shot or not get somewhere in time. I thought I'd really miss not controlling where my player moved but I think that moving the player actually takes away from the game slightly.
I may change my mind, but I certainly don't think I am missing out on the full potential or 'cheating' by not using the nunchuk (which is how I originally looked at it).
Oh and on the serves...I haven't quite gotten them down yet but I have definitely had a few zingers and played online with people that must have them perfected becasue they had a TON of 'ooomph'!

Interesting. Is it in print to read yet?
Is it a Wii firmware bug and will a Nintendo BIOS update fix the problem?

It was reviewed on a debug console with out of date firmware. Retail consoles should be fine.
I have no link, and I'm not sure what to make of the explanation. I'm still on Wii system menu 3.2 (which is more than a year old), and Motion+ is working fine for me with TW10.

Just curious, why haven't you updated to 4.0 yet? It adds the ability to use external memory cards for downloads.

I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

If it ain't broke....although to be honest much of the reason was that I literally used the Wii two or three times in the past year until Punchout and TW came out, and just didn't bother to update.
I also have never downloaded anything for wii so I don't really care about storage.

Ah, gotcha. I thought it may have been Homebrew Channel related.

I played a game on Medium yesterday without the nunchuk and had a lot more fun on that difficulty level. With the nunchuk I was constantly sending balls out of bounds because I was having trouble getting in position and timing my swing at the same time. Taking the nunchuk out of the equation I felt like I had more control over my shots and the volleys were much better.
I actually won my first match on medium doing this. The bottom line is I had more fun playing with wiimote only on medium than using both on easy. The match went to a tiebreaker and went to 8-6 before I finally got the win. I guess I was just being a stickler about having to control your player since in other games it's one of the few things you have total control of. Well, in this game you have such unparalleled control over ball placement with your swing that it's worth the sacrifice in player movement. EA really released a gem with this one.

Yeah, I am Wiimote only for good I think. Just like you said, much more fun that way for me. I got the nunchuk controls down pretty good so I didn't feel like I took the easy way out. But it is not as fun as just concentrating on my shots and swings.
What are your EA Sports userid names so I can add you guys?
I'm still having a blast with this game, and really enjoying the online experience. Each time I play, I figure out something new in terms of using angle on my shots. I'm getting much better at hitting my shots down the line.
I too am using only the Wiimote and thus far, I don't feel as though I'm missing any balls I shouldn't get to. I still tend to get overly excited sometimes and swing when I don't intend to and obviously that is a lost point.
Can someone explain the Wii training challenge? I go in there and see a calender. I click on the present day, and then I get an option for singles, doubles, etc. I then get a message that I'm exiting the training challenge. How exactly do you take part in this mode?
