REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Feb. 26, 2009 - Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 10 and EA SPORTSTM Grand Slam® Tennis will ship to retailers in North America on June 16, 2009, and will be the first two products from the EA SPORTSTM label that utilize the functionality of the Wii MotionPlusTM. EA SPORTS has at least five products, including EA SPORTS Active in May, in development that will launch before the end of 2009 designed specifically for the WiiTM.

"On the Wii, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 10 and EA SPORTS Grand Slam® Tennis bring the authentic motion and excitement of championship golf and tennis to life for fans of all ages and skill levels," said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. "With the new Wii MotionPlus, slicing a winner on Centre Court at Wimbledon or dropping an 8 iron pin high on No. 17 at TPC Sawgrass have never felt better. We couldn't be more excited about the dynamic new EA SPORTS experiences coming this year to Wii."

With the all-new Wii MotionPlus, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10 will allow golf fans to experience a near-perfect 1:1 swing - and control to work the ball - from the tee box to the green. The game brings players inside the ropes to experience the drama of PGA TOUR tournament for the first time. Feel the intensity and excitement on every swing as you compete against the leaderboard. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 10, the all-time top-selling franchise from EA SPORTS on the Wii*, will also ship on additional platforms in June.

EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis, available first for the Wii, puts the racket in the palm of your hand and offers the deepest tennis experience ever for the Wii. As the home to all four Grand Slams, and exclusive to Wimbledon, you can take your customized created player on a quest to win the four slams in Grand Slam career mode. Giving gamers a chance to play at Wimbledon's famed Centre Court adds a level of authenticity that isn't available anywhere else. EA SPORTS Grand Slam Tennis delivers an authentic tennis experience that makes you feel like you are playing with and against the sport's greatest legends and today's current stars.

Give me OTP for doubles games on the PS3/360.

Make it worldwide servers like for FIFA and NHL.

Let EA Canada make it, not Tiburon.

Watch them botch it.

Nobody lists the developer just yet. Really does it matter since it is a new IP? EA Canada could screw it up just as easily as Tiburon.

Forget worldwide servers. Have you played Top Spin 3? Oh man those cats in Europe take their tennis seriously and some of my worst beatdowns were from overseas and I am a pretty good tennis player. Give me fellow lazy Americans with limited attention spans any day.

Geez, they made sure you can see the Nike logo didn't they?

That exclusive Wimbledon license looks pointless on the Wii. Those shots look pretty basic.

Ehhhhhhhhhhh here is a long gameplay trailer. I do not know what to think really. They do a couple things fairly well (serve camera angle, sound of racquet on ball) but pretty much everything else makes me hope the (360/PS3) version of this game is totally different. I know it is the wii and everything needs to be cutesey and all but does the tennis ball really need to be that big? Really?

Oh yeah, link to the trailer

Personally, I like the look. I don't mind my videogames looking like games. The size of the tennis ball is a bit odd but I have to admit that I am guilty of complaining about not being able to see the ball in one or more tennis games so...

If this can utilize the Wii controls better than Wii Sports tennis then it will be great. Nice, simple, kind of cartoony, fun! I think this is the right move for EA.

I'm with Spooky.

Wii graphics aren't going to touch the realism of 360/PS3, but these graphics are easy on the eyes and functional.

Have to wait for hands-on impressions but it looks promising to me.

I prefer more realistic graphics but something tells me that I will enjoy the gameplay of this game more than Virtua Tennis 09. The Tennis ball does seem larger than usual and heavier at the same time.

Other than Mac, everyone seems to have the same service motion, I haven't seen a slice shot in that video as everyone was pounding the ball. some animations need improving as well, if you see Sharapova hitting her forehand, there's no way she can muster all that power with that short of a swing. Maybe they can borrow it from Tiger Woods.

Which is why I'd rather see graphics like this than a lame attempt at realism. When games try to look realistic and they miss the mark, they look much more odd than just going with a more 'game' look.

If this game is anywhere near as good as TW on the Wii then it will be a great game. I will likely get this game on release day since everything I am reading is positive and sounds as if it is up my alley.

PS3 And 360 Grand Slam Tennis Details

http://www.incgamers.com/News/16126/PS3 ... InTheWorks

Executive producer and vice president of EA Sports, David McCarthy, has told IncGamers consoles gamers can expect a Grand Slam Tennis title soon.

In an interview with IncGamers promoting the Wii title, McCarthy said that a Grand Slam Tennis Title for the 360 and PS3 "are in the works".

"You're going to see a title with very deep online functionality in it, you're going to have stunning visuals and levels of realism in it."

And the control mechanic is going to be hauled for the next generation title.

"You're going to see a different control mechanic which is really well suited for the platforms and really plays up the intricacies of the sport, plus ypu'll see some modes which you'll only find on the Xbox and PS3."

McCarthy says we can expect to see the 360 and PS3 title out before the end of the year, but the focus is on the launch of the Wii title.

We'll have our hands-on preview of the title soon, as well as the full interview, so make sure you keep checking back for more information.

Game looks fun, but what's up with that oversized tennis ball? Still, I'm very interested in this game.
