An apology for what?sportdan30 wrote:Wow. This just goes to show you they hurried this game out the door! Well, at least they're patching the game, but damn...the developers should be issuing one big apology.
People act like the game was an unmitigated disaster before.
Sure it had a few issues, but at least they were diligent in fixing them.
Even if the fixes weren't made, the game was well done IMO.
I agree.. if a patch fixes some of the minor annoyances, I'll be a happy camper this year.
One year to fix the mess that MLB 2k was.. and you know they did rush it out the door to beat The Show to the shelves - that's the way it goes nowdays.
This is THE norm for most games, especially sports games.

The reason The Show doesn't have nearly the problems that MLB 2K9 has is because it's basically the same game only slightly updated. Let's see if we can say the same for the game if they use different announcers and start the game basically from scratch like 2K has done the last couple of years.
With that said I have both games except 2K9 is on the PC. I have been enjoying 2K9 over The Show this year. It's the more fun baseball game. The developers of The Show needs to stop making gamers perform finger gymnastics. I have gotten to dislike the pitching meter and classic pitching is not as as fun as what 2K9 has to offer.

All I'm saying is that some of these fixes should have been so blatantly obvious during testing. They should have been corrected before the game went out the door. Instead, they sell it early and expect the gamer to sit idly by until a patch comes out. I would have been pissed if I bought this game early.
I don't want you to think it's just this game. There have been other games in which there were other obvious bugs and the developers decide to push the game out the door without proper quality testing. Then, they figure they can just patch the game on their own time. I'm sorry, but it's inexcusable IMO. I don't expect new released game to be perfect (The Show is not), but the 2K developers can't see that the CPU is hacking at every freakin' pitch in the strike zone? Why not hold the game back a week and fix the problem?

What on earth are you talking about with finger gymnastics controls for the show?? The pitching interface for 2k9 is about the most joystick jockey-like interface you can get, (other than 2k8, maybe) and you are calling that more fun. Pretty much all of The Show's commands are very simple.Rodster wrote:The developers of The Show needs to stop making gamers perform finger gymnastics. Obviously you like the totally new and improved upon last years new and improved which they improved on the previous years base running controls.
It's a total cluster f**k if you ask me. Too many damn button to push just to try and run the bases. The pitching meter sucks. The speed of the meter is too fecking slow with no runners on. MLB 2K9 has the best pitching interface out now.

New update from 2k:
"Hey guys! Proud to announce this morning that I have word on both the PC Patch and the XBOX 360 patch. Here goes:
The PC patch, from everything I have been told, will be out by end of day on our site. This could change, but I will have a link up in this thread for you the second I have it. It will be a combination of the day one update, the contents of the console patch (thread above), and added support for the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller on the PC. So it's pretty extensive (40 MB+)
The XBOX 360 Patch is approved to go out by Microsoft tomorrow morning (usually it's 2 AM but don't hold me to that). Thanks!

latest update for PC patch people:
"Some of you saw my posts about this but I had said this was retail version only. For those of you who bought the game digitally (i.e. Gamespot), the patch needs to be wrapped into the software structure of the DRM partner and then be approved. It should be a matter of a few days before this is done (though it does lie in the hands of the DRM partner) and when I get word, I will let you know."
