I'm using default swing stick, and at first I was seeing a large amount of line drives right at the infielders and diving catches of hard hit grounders in the infield, but ever since the last living roster update the hit variety has went way up.

Do you see many high fly balls or pop ups to the IF? I dont.
The default, no cursor.

Yes I see high fly balls, more to the OF than the IF - those are mostly line drives.

The thing I really like is the gappers.

Now that makes sense. For some reason, I dont get the same hit variety with the cursor (zone) as with the default method. Anyone else notice this? If this is true, I might have to go back to the default hitting method and crank up the pitch speed so I at least K once in a while.

After some more tweaking, i'm enjoying the game better now. I came across this on OS and thought it was funny.... though I haven't had any of these things happen to me yet.

I've seen the manager walk back waist high to the dugout from the Pitcher's mound.

I like how when a pitcher comes in, his head is always cranked to the side.. at least most of the time - and the manger's eyes are always looking to one side.

I'll just say your mileage may vary. I have yet to see most of the glitches in all those videos, but I have seen a couple.

Maybe when I play more games I will see them..... maybe not.

This 2nd patch will be telling for me, as I've heard the quote "VC wants to impress with 2k9" to shake off the bad feelings from last year. So, we'll see how much they do to fix things whenver the patch is out.

I have seen a lot of those glitches, but I just laugh and move on. There are guys warping through each other in The Show and it doesn't bother me there either. The main thing that bugs me is the outfielders and the strange speeding up and slowing down animation.

Oh, and to eat a bit of crow, apparently I WOULD pay $400 for The Show. 8O Actually, I was able to pick up a used PS3 from a friend, so of course I grabbed a copy of The Show.

The Road To The Show is awesome, a baseball RPG sort of. I created my son and he was drafted by the Orioles. The games are accurate and the graphics are very impressive. Commentary is good but I like 2K9's better.

I'm in a dilemma however as I'm thinking of taking one of the games back but can't decide which. 2K9 has some goofs but for pick up and play it's a blast, and the games certainly tell a story. The Show has the stats for the long haul (especially if you use manager mode) and the RTTS is a ton of fun. 2K9 has the batting/pitching hands down, I much prefer it. The Shows games can get a bit stale during play sometimes but the results seem tighter and more realistic.

Most likely I'll take back 2K9, get the PC version, and use the rest of the money on another PS3 game since it's the new toy.

I know each side has it's die-hard fans, but now that I own both I'll be honest; they both have their good and bad points and it's tough for me to decide between them.

Grant...just keep whichever is more fun to play. It sounds like its 2K9 for you. Sure The Show is more realistic and accurate, but the gameplay does get stale and it isn't as interactive a game as 2K is.

I am really liking the "Hurry Up Baseball" option in 2K9. I can get thru a full game in 1 hr. I even like the way the AI swings at everything. Also helps you get thru the games faster :)

That's what I did. I bought MLB 2K9 for PC and bought the Show. I also like the fact that modders are already updating MLB 2K9. I'm also in the group that sees some of the glitches and just laughs it off.

For me nothing beats RTTS with the exception of success mode in MLB Power Pros.

You mean like sliders and such? I don't even see that category over there. This is mainly cosmetic I believe.

no.....mods that effect the actual gameplay. I guess they would need to go into all the players ratings and such. Didn't they do a lot of that with MVP?

That's because MVP Baseball was not a moving target. Next year we'll probably see MLB 2K10 for the PC. So what's the point in creating massive mods when the game gets a refresh the following year. ;)

Yes, they did do that. I believe they played with some text file from what I remember.

I am getting a lot of disc read errors lately.

My last one was in the 3rd inning of a 3-0 lead against Jake Peavy and the Pads.

The commentary stopped, and 2 minutes later, the disc read error, and reset back to Live home page.

This sucks!

I really really really like this game...it is borderline nirvana for me, and now I get these damn errors.

The last time my XBOX crapped out on me was with another 2K game (College Hoops 2K8).

UGH!

I hope the 2nd patch helps.

Played my first game on default legend tonight.. hitting is much harder, which is should be, but the Twins were beating me 15-0 in the 6th inning!

Not fun... 8O

Some of the bugs are starting to get to me a bit and a 2nd patch will really tell the tale of MLB 2k9 for me.

I don't attempt pick offs anymore, since everyone is thrown out, fielding can be VERY frustrating at times, especially if it turns a short inning into a long one, had the CPU try for third tonight when my 3b had the ball, tagged him and he was safe...

That being said, there are some good things, throwing when the meter is in the red creates bad throws alot of times.. like it should, hitting variety is nice, many plays at the bases as the CPU is aggresive...

You should just dload a set of custom sliders (like BFJ's V2). It much better than any defaults.
