forget it! I'll just load them and start a new franchise. I'm just 3 games in anyway
Gangrel wrote:If you already started a franchise, there is no way to load sliders. You'll have ot manually edit them. Classic pen and paper approach.
I noticed the ticker too last night, and even better, it seemed to not update at atll. I was playing around 9PM, and it was still telling me the Sens game was in the first period when it was almost over.....
Gangrel wrote:Question: Do you think pitch speed slider affects the "percieved" speed of the ball, or the "actual" speed?
I'm wondering if the reason i'm getting thrown out by a mile on a steal attempt is because I have pitch speed at 90 or 95......
Not sure what you mean by actual speed or why that would even be relevant, but I would assume if you raise up pitch speed, it would mean you have less time to swing
should be pretty easy to test...put it on zero, then on 100.

The issue is that if the pitching speed slider only affected 'perceived' speed for the batter, you'd have to react quicker in the batter's box, but from the fielder's/base-runner's perspective the pitches still come in at the same speed.
If the slider affects 'actual' speed, cranking up that slider will make it nearly impossible to steal because the pitch is getting to home plate much quicker, and consequently the catcher will have more time to throw down to 2nd base and catch a basestealer.

He just wants to know if raising the pitch speed to 100 means that the ball will get to the plate a hellova lot faster, resulting in him getting thrown out trying to steal. The time from the pitchers hand to the catcher. Sure, it looks faster, but IS it faster?
ya, just playing a game now. I tried to steal with Anderson Hernandez (long fuffering Expos/Nats fan) and it appears the problem is the runners just get out of the chute SLOW and run slow on a base steal. Meanwhile, the AI seems to go twice as fast......
I wish the steal success slider was still in the game.
I'll agree with most of the points of that review. I had to laugh when he was talking about "first basemen coming off the bag" becasue the clip in the video has the 3rd basemen throwing with the metre deep in the red.... so of course it's goingto be offline.
For now the game is fun for me. My only real gripe is it's near impossible for me to steal, while the AI steals with ease.
Anyone think its worth dumping the 360 version for the PC one? I have both right now and there is something about the PC version that doesnt measure up to the console one, but I cant put my finger on it? Maybe its not as smooth? Visually, the PC one looks a bit better, but not that much different. $40 is a HUGE difference and its tough to justify. I do miss the surround sound and the rumble that u get with the console version. I haven't been able to detect any gameplay differences yet.
Anyone else notice that you can pick off runners at 2nd base at an alarming rate? Even with the slider way down. Hope that is part of the next patch.
I think it's because the dive-back animation is the slowest thing I've ever seen..... I hope they do something about it.
Saw some more weirdness last night. Nick JOhnson heading to third, rounds the base, then goes back. The throw comes in, boom, he's, out?!?!?
I look at the replay and he rounded the base, came back and his foot was *touching the bag*...... but the throw came in (through his body actually) and the 3rd basemen tagged him for the out. It's like the hotspot for the base wasn't actually where the base WAS.
I can see this game going one of two ways for me. They patch most things, it's fun, and I play it all summer. Or, I get annoyed with glitches like that (or the slow mo outfielders, or the fact humans cannot steal bases) and I end up playing NHL and FIFA all summer......
I like the game so far, I really do (it helps it's my only choice!) but I can also see the outcry from Show fans, or just general anti-2k fans about all the litle drops of water that add up to a full glass.
I had a man on 3rd with no out and 2 times in a row I hit a deep fly ball and it wont let me take control of the guy on 3rd to tag up. Very frustrating.

Depends on the PC. I can run MLB 2K9 maxed out on my PC and it's silky smooth. Me and DB have similar setups although I think his video card is better. Are you using XP or Vista?

Were you able to tap the A button to select the player then advance him with the right trigger?

I don't know what to say jack. It's probably a bug and it hasn't happened to me yet.
One other reason I prefer the PC version is that yet can update the game with stadium updates etc. There's work on Citi Field. They've already updated like 6 or 7 stadiums.
I just downloaded a mod that shows what displays the correct buttons for the Logitech Rumblepad 2 and 360 controller.
Has anyone else noticed that you can pick off a baserunner on 2nd base 99% of the time? I don't even bother trying anymore because it ruins the game. Even with the pickoff success slider on 0.

this game sure has a lot of weird quirks.....
That's on the list for the 2nd patch next week.

That's how I get even with them. Anyone else notice how the Pitchers all have the batting skills of Tony Gywnn at the plate or how 9 times out of 10 the CPU will fly out if you serve a fastball down the middle of the plate?
I'm still having fun with MLB 2K9 but this series has turned into a laughing stock especially when you factor in all the animation weirdness etc. MLB 2K7 even with all it problems still had less problems than 2K9.
I am finally getting the sliders where I like them and having good games. Last few I held the AI under 6 runs. I am still struggling a little with the zone hitting, but that's OK. The default hitting method is too easy. My only complaint with the zone/cursor hitting is that its hard to get the ball in the air. You have to swing under it. I also have zero HRs in 6 games. Might have to up the power slider.
The only thing really bugging me is the outfield glitch where the fielder goes into that goofy animation and as it speeds up, the ball flies over his head.
I just need to tweak hitting a bit more to make it harder and I'll be happy.
I am not seeing a lot of hit variety. Lots of line drives and slow grounders to infielders. What hitting method are you using Mizz? I am using zone (cursor). I seem to remember better hit variety with the demo, using just the timing based hitting method.

I'm using the swing stick. I'm not striking out as much as I would like, but I love the hit variety I'm seeing... doubles into the gaps, a triple here and there, bloop singles, etc...

I know its the swing stick, but with method? Default or Zone (cursor)?
Do you see many high fly balls or pop ups to the IF? I dont.
