If according to gamespot this game is 4.5, what was last years??? a 1.3? This game is a thousand times better than last years game!

I started a season last night using Guru's V2 slider set. I made two adjustmnets..I upped user power and I changed CPU fielder speed down to 40 or so. This allowed me to actually hit some balls into the gaps.
I played the first two games in my season, first game I was cruising along with Adam Wainright but then had a real bad inning. No matter what I threw or where I threw it, it wound up a hit. I ended up losing the home opener 11-6 and the Pirates had about 18 hits. Game two was a complete different story as Carpenter mowed the Pirates down for 8.2 innings before I had to pull him and bring in Chris Perez and nail down a 3-1 win.
I plan on playing games 3 and 4 today.

Score variety is definitely there for me. I'm having scores of 1-0, 4-3, 9-7, 7-0, etc..

Each game is different and the only time my 1b was pulled off the bad was when I hurried a throw and had the meter all the way in the red.

I think I might lower fielder speed, but other than that, it's a fun game. Base running speed and OF arm throwing speed seems perfect. I gunned two CPU players last night as they tried to stretch and extra base.

I also saw my first triple!

I agree, this game blows away 2k8 and well, 2k7 for that matter. Perfect stats do not matter for me.. I'm a hack anyway!

I had increased my baserunning speed, but I think I'm going to take it down a notch. Soriano got an inside the park homerun after Jermaine Dye misplayed a fly ball at Wrigley and I have been getting quite a few triples at other parks.

Ha good point. 2k8 would be a -2.4 or something.

Ankiel had an inside the park HR for me last night on a misplayed flyball down the LF line.

The game is far from perfect, but nothing has popped out at me as a game killer yet or something that I can't deal with.

Someone over at mvpmods redid Wrigley field with the correct scoreboard and ads. :)

yeah I saw that the other day. too bad that can't be done for the 360 version. Although, I eliminate the biggest eyesore at Wrigley, the State Farm ad by zooming in the hitting view 10 and the height to 10 as well. I never see the add.

The game isn't perfect by any stretch. too many line drives to the infielders, too many diving catches and too many opposite field homers. But I really enjoy the game and none of the issues are gamekillers for me.

I've had more fun with MLB 2K9 (PC) warts and all than with MLB 09 The Show (PS3). I love listening to Gary Thorne call the game. :)

Are most of you using GURU's sliders, or BFNJoe's? Or your own?

I'm also holding out hope for a patch that makes the cpu less swing aggressive even though I'm getting a good amount of called strikes and check swing strikes by using the Inside Edge. Also a minor thing that I hope is patched is the amount of night games at Wrigley on the Cubs schedule.

Good news for you, they updated all the schedules in the latest living roster update!

My own, I do not believe in slider guru's, I only believe in me.

Plus since we can use them online mine will be a collaboration with people that I play online with.

I love this "living roster" thing. :)

Should be all ready for my franchise to coincide with opening day. :)

I'm using the next difficulty above pro with very little edits.. I believe OF speed is one of them.

So after deliberating a while I decided to open the game last night. At the end of the 2nd inning in my first game I was losing 23-1 on the default setting. I killed the game after that and went to the tutorial, where, much to my delight I learned I didn't understand how to actually pitch. I was basically grooving most everything and they were hitting the cover off the ball. With a better understanding how to pitch, I lost the next game 3-1.

Gosh, was I ever scared there for a moment :)

I've played a decent amount of games this weekend and I'm already thinking about who to sign from FA, who I can add to the pitching staff, etc..

Can't wait to finally start a franchise.

Started Colby Rasmus in game 4 of my franchise and he singled in his 3rd at bat and Steve Phillips congratulated him on getting his first major league hit.....nice little touch there.

I had a really fun game yesterday between the Mets and Marlins at Citi Field. I've learned how to get more called strikes on the CPU. I'm still amazed at how natural Gary Thorne sounds in this game as well as the post game wrap up. I've had more fun with MLB 2K9 than i've had with The Show. 8)

Played a game against the giants last night. Lincecum is filthy. He consistently hit 97mph. I was only able to muster 1 run on 4 hits in seven innings. The bochy went to his bullpen. I tied the gate at 3 in the eigth and ninth innings. What was really cool is in the 10th I had a man on third with no outs. The cpu intentionally walked the bases loaded. I won the game 4-3 but I've never had any baseball game where the cpu walked two men in a row to allow a force at any base. It was the smart thing to do and really cool to see

I take anything PP says about any non-EA game with a BIG grain of salt. I finally got around to trying the demo on the PS3 over the weekend, and I think it will make a great change of pace game from the Show. I'll probably wait a little while before picking it up since I haven't even had the time to play the Show as much as I'd like, but I would imagine after the eventual patch this game will be VERY good.

Yeah, pretty much. This line sums it up nicely:

"As I detailed in my initial impressions I have never witnessed so many flaws and glitches within such a short amount of time as I did with MLB 2K9."

If it were Madden that had the bugs that 2k9 does, this place would have disintegrated by now.
