I'm curious....when you copy the game to your hard drive, is the CD no longer needed? If that's true, why can't you just rip it and return it or sell it?
A DVD is required but you can use any DVD (even a movie) as long as it has Xvid encoding with Dolby Digital (AC-3).

Between your avatar and Teal's, I keep getting these visions of "The Blue Oyster Bar" rumbling around in the back of my head. Please you two, make the scary images go away.
Holy s***, are you serious?! You're a Sooner fan who lives in Texas, and all you can think of when you see my avatar is THAT?! Like you don't see a cowboy hat in Texas?
The only time you'd see me in a Blue Oyster Bar is with a shotgun and an attitude...
Funny thing is we do not see a lot of cowboy hats around here. I am in farm/ranch country and most of the country boys wear their your standard ball cap 99.9% of the time. Cowboy hats are usually reserved for a rodeo or an anniversary and in many cases both events happen at same time.
Of course I was kidding, kinda.

Alex Gordon hit a go head 2 run HR off of Matt C apps in the top of the 9th...sweet.
I really like the zone hitting.
had 10 hits....6 singles, 3 doubles and 1 HR...and 6 K's.
I played default All-Star.
It was a blast!
I would have killed for a game like this 15-20 years ago...beyond my wildest dreams....now....I will appreciate what it does right, and that is, play a good, solid game of baseball that had my emotions swelling during the game.
BTW...the zoom camera while hitting...and pitching is terrific.
Hell, I'm still getting lit up like a Christmas tree. How well does it do ignoring the catcher's signals, and just pitching what you think is best? I typically just go with what he signals, but that, or an ignorance of how the pitching controls work, is getting me hit on like Heidi Klum at a Star Trek convention.
BUT...I'm completely digging this game. Haven't seen too many of the bugs that the reviewers report, and I'm wondering if that update they did yesterday when I first fired it up addressed some of those...
The game is much better that last year's puss. I haven't even scratched the surface with the game so I cannot pass judgment yet. I did play it right after I played a game of MLB 09: The Show which is just tremendous. I realize this is a 2K9 threat but the inevitable comparison is there. The Show is probably the most polished sports titled I have ever played. I read a post somewhere (maybe here) that if EA could make there football game like The Show people would have a prolonged erection It is a great game.
That being said, 2K9 has promise. I am very disappointed with the graphics. There are times, IMO, that it looks like a last gen game. The pitching is very cool. I love the camera options. The fieding cam is very nice. Hitting with the right stick is too easy IMO. I am a zone hitting guy so the right stick was turned off very quickly. I will give 2K its fair share of time but it will pale in comparison to the time I put in with The Show.
So far I'm happy, the game is a lot of fun and plays a good game of ball. Maybe when the PS3's get a huge price drop I'll grab The Show, but for now I'm happy with the game.
I haven't tried the zone hitting yet but will soon. I did turn off the strike zone first thing.

Oh, I know. Just stirring the pot a little, per usual, huh? I wear my fair share of beat up ball caps, too...
If I had both consoles, I'd default to The Show without hesitation. But 2K9 is pretty damned good where it counts the most, and I won't be pining for a PS3 because of it...

For me it is worth it not to hear that DVD roaring but this is icing on the cake. Would kiss my 120GB HD if I was in town.
It's a mute point with my stock 360 hard drive. I dont really have the room to install the game to the HD. Maybe I will look into an upgrade of the HD. But then, how do I transfer everything over?
Having a blast with the Zone Hitting option. I am striking out enough and hits are very rewarding. You almost have to "guess" and put the bat cursor in that area, because you can't move it too much during the pitch.
On he flipside, I am having a hard time beating the AI playing on Allstar, but it is fun and challenging. When you do get a strikeout, it is also very rewarding.
I think once some optimal sliders are discovered, this game will be excellent.

It's a moot point, and when you get the 120GB HD, it comes with the transfer cable and software. It's about as easy as can be.

So when u have it on "zone hitting", that White Bat appears as the pitch is coming in, right??? I turned that on, but found the bat distracting. I miss the whole 'guess where the pitch will go & if you guessed right the icon would appear'. the 'white bat' replaces that, yes?

I would like to hear more about how well the zone hitting works from others who are using it. The cursor hitting aspect of this game intrigues me. I don't like the swing stick hitting much at all.
I just bought a 60GB HD and it does not come with the transfer cable, although you can fax a form into MS and they send one free of charge, right out to you. The whole process took about an hour or so, but it was painless.
I have about 4 games loaded to the HD right now and Head Coach really makes a difference.. I'm finally really into that game again thanks to the speed you get from loading it onto the HD.
Dell had a 20% off sale a week or so ago on the 60GB.
having a blast playing this online with the classic controls and set at all star. You can actually draw walks with the classic pitching, some of that may have to do with people learning how to pitch though. Now I just need to find someone that won't quit after 3-4 innings. Also, the pickoffs online are being exploited. You can pickoff just about any runner if you try enough times.

I'm up for it on the weekends, if you're able. I'd love to play this online soon-just can't stay up past 9pm, or I'm toast the next morning...
MizzouRah wrote:The swing stick is very easy.. at least on Pro.. does it get harder?
I'm sure if you up the pitch speeds, it will get harder, but to me Zone Hitting is the way to go. The dfault method is purely timing based and more for the casual "pick up and play" gamer.

The white bats works with or without the "batter's eye" which is the guess feature. You can use them both together or turn one or both on or off.
I turned "batters eye" off so I could just concentrate on the cursor. The white bat is a little distracting, but I got used to it. It is transparant, so I just focus on the red sweetspot. Reminds me a little of AllStar Baseball's hitting method.

How is online play? Any issues? Lag? Frame Rate? etc...
I'm a casual baseball guy. I'm playing the game without tweaking a thing, zone batting, all that, and I'm having alot of fun with it. Anything I've noticed is negligible, and hasn't affected gameplay, so much as aesthetics. But even that is no big deal. It's a very good game of baseball.
