The worst thing about working last night was walking in the back room and seeing stacks of 2K9 and The Show, and not being able to touch any of them until Tuesday. I tried my best, but no way was my manager letting me take mine home early. :?

Where do you get your updates Squid, mvpmods.com?
I did for the old MVP baseball game. I get mods from different places depending on the game. One will surely pop up for MLB2k9

My gripe was the franchise issue, since they touted it being redone this year.. but honestly, I'm excited to play the retail and with my Cardinals.

Seems like 2k is actually going to support v9 this year, so we'll see what they patch later on.

For my "real" baseball fix, I'll play ootp10 or bm2010.

This game is getting hammered over at OS. I hope they plan on patching the PC version as well as the console versions.

Exactly...I just wondered like what types of issues people were having...Are they really gamebreaking?

I have found that if I don't go near a glitch bug thread, I never know about said bug.

I think one of the big ones is the AI swings at almost everything in the zone or near it, and there is no slider to help this. However, according to someone with a "source", VC will be "fixing this soon".

Lots of people complaining that you can't edit line ups in exhibition games, so you always play the other teams ace.

Some are complaining the hit influence is too strong and it's easy to hit homers, but i'm pretty sure there is a slider for it.

Some are saying there's weirdness with the fielding sometime, a la the "slow down to catch the ball in stride" thing that happened a lot last year....

I'm sure there's more, I just browsed to maintain sanity.....

Well there was a 15 page thread on how OXM gave the game a 6.5, are magazine reviews game killers? Tears were shed, BTKRich used the term "hypocrisy" more than once and bigfnjoe96 thought his impressions were so vital that he had to post it twice (with a page of each other), to ensure everyone read it.

This is what I was talking about with The Gamer. Some of these guys truly need the spotlight. Look at my post guys, how many of you did it influence to buy/not buy "x" game, based on limited playtime? You can add bigfnjoe to that list now. Fame is a biotch.

Yep.. I visit OS ONLY to browse so to speak.. game breakers to most of their posters are the color of the ivy at Wrigley being to green, too many Pepsi ads, or no editable batting stances..

The biggest issue I see to most would be the CPU swings at everything in the strike zone.. which makes human controlled teams pitch counts low.

I guess we'll have some impressions here at DS on Tuesday.. although my girls soccer team has its first outdoor game.. so it will be late for me.

Wow, with the downtime here today, I spent entirely too much time at OS. Doubt is seriously creeping in. A major concern I have is the amount of flexibility that seems to have been taken away. Limits to roster editing, sliders being taken away for no apparent reason. I'm hoping VC patches or gives further explanations as to what some sliders affect. I love the gameplay, but I do enjoy editing my rosters, (takes me back to my baseball card sorting days as a kid), especially getting my Cubs appearances correct.

BigfnJoe is really throwing me for a loop. He's stuck w/2k baseball for a long time and been called all kinds of apologist for it. Reading his posts, he's played the series the same style I always have. For him to appear so disappointed has me considering "gulp" a PS3 and The Show. Of course this will all go away once I have the game and play it and judge for myself.

I wasn't much for NCAA 09 until they patched it, now it's one of my top sports games of all time..

I'm hoping MLB 2k9 will be the same..

No way in hell I'm buying a ps3 for one game, as much as I would like to. I skipped console baseball last year, and I'll do it again. The encouraging thing for me, is I really liked the demo.

Seriously, I remember one year that Bigfnjoe guy, in "2k-something", went through every-single-outfielder in the game and notched their "throwing arm" skill down by 5 points. (not joking)

I seriously doubt this game is SOOO bad, he's finally done with it.

At least I've gotten to the point where I'll ONLY get The Show. I read a little bit of the impressions and I am starting to feel really sorry for the 360 only crew. I'll pour out a lil' liquor for ya.

Imo, it is. However that's just my opinion and my time with it has been limited.

The good news is the framerate problems that killed it for me last year seem to be gone..

BigFnJoe was one of the biggest 2k baseball fanboys of all time. The mere fact he said anything negative, nevertheless stated the game is flat out broken speaks volumes, imo.

Your mileage may vary however, and there is some fun in the game. So you may like it.

Completely agree. Did you manage to find a copy of either game yet?

Nope. Didn't really look much this weekend. Been setting up the new home theater gear and researching some AV Equipment to buy. Think I have it all set now. Too bad the speakers won't be here till the end of the week. :) Gotta roll the Show on the old TV and surround. LOL.

It's a shame re: MLB 2K9 because the Pitching interface is miles better than The Show's. I also like the swing stick in MLB 2K9. I still might get the game on the PC for $20.

Eh, I just want to play baseball. I think people dig too deeply trying to find s*** wrong with this stuff, and then are *disappointed* when they do. As if all that intense searching won't reveal stuff. Games aren't meant to be taken so damned seriously-they're games. But whatever. I'll be playing it and having a ball while others, like Bigfngimmeabreak, whine and moan about a wrong batting stance or the texture of the grass...

I'm with ya Teal. As long as it plays a fun game of ball I'll be happy. Hell, I rarely notice the bugs people talk about anyway.

Geez, I'd love to take some of those dudes at OS back to the days of yore, playing baseball on my Commadore 64. I think their heads would explode.

I wonder how in the hell any of them ever played baseball on the intellivision, atari, or even the super nintendo, either...

That's the thing, it has always been that way with baseball games at OS. I always found baseball release timeframe to be far worse than football season and the Gameday vs 2k vs Madden rants.

It is what drove me from that place. I love sports, I love sports games but I am able to differentiate between the two. Here and at SGN and at the old SR, you have some sensibility outweighing the negativity. Heck I nitpick at games too, mostly on the presentation and graphics side as video games are a release from the real world for me. I want something that looks and plays well first. The game could be the most hardcore simulation of "x" sport but if it looks like a turd or controls like a turd, you still have a turd.

Game Killers? Oy vey.

True that. I just want to 'feel' like I'm at the ballpark, or at least watching a broadcast, and that 2K9 has in spades. It also plays a pretty damned good game of baseball, from my demo impressions. Don't understand what else one could want from a representation of the sport, but, well...some people have too much time on their hands, I suppose...
