They do at Busch at times too.. but it's the same in MLB 2k for every stadium.. they need to mix it up a bit..

The commentary is soooooo much better. I like the camera angles and more of the "real time" feel to the game.

For some reason, the game reminds me of NHL 2k9 as the players seem a bit robotic at times.

Looks like an improvement, but how much remains to be seen.

Is it just me, or does the "colour" that shows what pitch was thrown show up AFTER the better swings?

I thiought it was supposed to be like MVP where you saw the colour before it crossed the plate?

Nope, it's supposed to be "after" the pitch just for recognition purposes I guess.. to get used to what the pitcher is throwing at you without tipping you off during the pitch.

I am definitely feeling a positive vibe after those vids. The demo, which supposedly could be dropping this week (it is in approval with MS), will be the final determining factor for me. I hope it is a good game for you 360 only guys. Plus two games is better than one.

Not that I know of, and it bothers me too. I think they wore them though in real life during a throwback game last year. Hopefully 2k can patch it, or it is fixed before it goes gold.

bdoughty wrote:RECAP OF TODAYS MLB2K9 Q&A with the Developers.

http://2ksports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=206422

Some of the biggies

Q. Did you guys record new bat sounds for 2k9?
A: This year we supported grounders/pops/choppers with a much bigger
variety of sounds. You really have to play the game to hear the variety
of the different hit sounds which are big improvement over last year.

Q: Are online leagues still in the game? If so, Have they changed in any drastic way? (new functions, features, stats, lobbies, etc)
A: Online leagues saw the similar upgrade that NHL & NBA got this year.
This includes a new web page and dozens of new stats, features and other goodies.

Q: Any word on the online? Is it going to be like NBA or can you play
your friends for rank? Also will it be lag free or no?
A: No it's still a quick match only system, we are planning on doing
something for the future. As for lag it's much improved from last year we're running 60 frames per
second.

Q: Can you turn off the bright ball or strike marker when it crosses the plate
A: No, you can't turn it off. The color corresponds to the pitch type so
it has a use.

Q: Thanks for your time. Are the minor leagues the same as last year?
A: We have all AAA, AA, and High A teams and leagues this year. The main difference is only AAA games will be playable this year. All rosters
have been updated for minor league teams.

Hate that the colors are not given the option to turn off. I am hoping that all minor league teams can be played with in exhibition mode? Hopefully he means only AAA games can be played inside a dynasty.

Why would you only want to play minors in exhibition though?

I meant that it is better to have that option versus not being able to use them at all. Heck, I play a ton of exhibition games so I can play in all the stadiums.

I can't believe how good they have Gary Thorne sounding in this game although some inaccurate at times. Such as the pitch fouled behind the plate called foul to the right side and the liner to short for the final out was called to center field.

Also I like that someone hs finally used real cola adverts.

I do not mind advertising in sports games. I do not mind advertising littered all over the place in sports games. I DO mind the SAME AD being littered all over the place, creating a huge eyesore.

I don't mind ads as well, but there's lots-a-pepsi. What's funny is the SF park, it has a giant coke bottle (of course labeled 2k now).

ugh. I don't mind the ads, and I'm not a giant stickler for total details, but even I have to say I'm a bit preturbed that they have altered the field walls, etc. in some of the parks to better place ads.

What if they decided the green monster was too big for an ad, so they made it just a regular wall?????

We've got a lot of new media for 2k9 this weekend and it appears that 2k and VC have a potentially great title on their hands. I'm surprised the biggest story is of the advertising in the game. Its really not a big deal to me.

It is all screenshots and videos to me. Until I get the game in my hands, all I can do is discuss the details that are presented to me. I really can't even start down the road of calling something potentially great or awful until I start playing it. 2k8 had a lot of potential (Ben told me so). Ben also was clever enough to hold up the demo and wait for people to buy it.

I do not care if you work for an advertising agency or are the owner of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. If you can look at the two screens below and say that they are not the least bit distracting, I am calling the BS police.

I don't think most people around the internet are complaining about advertising, they are complaining about some of the moronic ways 2ksports is going about it (redundant/excessive ads and editing reality to create large adspace).

Already been paying extra for this generations games. These are the same games that developers are bringing in more money through in-game advertising than ever. Crap like this is just rubbing our nose in it. Once you start accepting stuff like this, it will only gets worse.

I put in-game advertising around 87 on my 101 list of concerns. Hell, they could call it Viagra 2k9 for all I care, just as long as the online plays with no lag...

I'd have it on the same number in my list too. However, ranked much higher would be "altering field dimensions that affect a ball "in play".

If you see a screen of Nationals stadium, the left field wall is about twice the height of the actuall ball park so that they can fit a state farm ad on it.

Ergo, it will affect possible homerun balls hit to left field as they now have another 20 feet of wall to clear.

THAT's what I have a problem with. I could care less about billboards, etc.
