Do it. I lost my mind a few years ago following the whole Byrds/Burrito/GP world(albums, books, movies, Gram-fest, etc....). Completely worth it. I'm a big geek over all this stuff so if u need any suggestions, let me know. For the Flying Burrito Bros, start with the recent Rhino compilations & go from there. All kick-ass stuff.Brando70 wrote:I wound up listening to Graham Parker last year for the first time, particular Squeezing Out Sparks, where he out-Costello's Elvis Costello. Terrific songwriter who wraps together clever lyrics and great melodies.Spooky wrote:I am going to start a sub-thread in this one for ‘Old Music’.
Every now and then we should mention an older album that is worthy of some new recognition or one that we are really enjoying and want to share.
I also checked out another famous Gram, Gram Parsons, the original alt-country guy. G.P. and Grievous Angel are full of twang and melancholoy that tend to characterize the best country music. I might have to go back and check out The Flying Burrito Brothers now.
Oh, & have a glass of bourbon nearby at all times...
