Would love to see this happen. Bayern should use as I always use him on my PES ML team; super-sub and spot starter at forward, wide-midfield, and attacking midfield.

The idea is that Donovan would only come in the event that Podolski leaves, so no worries there!fsquid wrote:Bayern has no need for a player that disappears in big games. We already have Podolski for that and Hergraves before that.
Oliver Kahn was the best on the field that day. Please.Naples39 wrote:The idea is that Donovan would only come in the event that Podolski leaves, so no worries there!fsquid wrote:Bayern has no need for a player that disappears in big games. Donovan doesn't always choke in big games. In the single biggest game of his career, the WC quarterfinal in '02 against Germany, he was arguably the best player on the field for either team. Granted that was 6+ years ago. We'll see what happens.
Indeed. Considering he was able to conjure up a third arm in a critical moment, one that was only apparently attached to Torsten Frings (only apparently), certainly set him a class above the rest that day.fsquid wrote: Oliver Kahn was the best on the field that day. Please.
I bet MLS isn't too eager to sell him, and MLS and Bayern will re-evaluate his transfer value in March and take it from there."The goal will be to see if we can get him long term, at least until the end of the season," Klinsmann told the club's website (www.fcbayern.de).
Donovan convinced from the first day on, got Klinsmann straight. “The players were very done by him. Landon gives us a component in the attack, which we did not have up to now. It is unbelievable fast and looks for permanently unity counter unity situations. That makes our attack more with difficulty out computingable. He is completely different Stürmer than those, which we have now already.”

I was more thinking of all those people he cheated when he helped throw the 1988 Serie A title....although they were Napoli fans, so my ire is a little lessened.10spro wrote:davet010 wrote:Beat the Scots eh ? Listen, if Mr cokehead can turn this bunch of underachievers and start treating the WC qualifiers more seriously, then I could care less if he's short, fat and sniffs here and there. When you have people like Riquelme, Tevez, Messi, Aguero and you're struggling with nations like Uruguay, Peru, and the surprising Paraguay, you gotta change something. A little hand of God would help.
Didn't get to watch it until last night as it was not shown here. Pretty crap match from the Germans. However, that is why we love them. They'll putter along during these next 18 months and then when South Africa hits, they'll be able in the semis while England get slaughtered by the Tabloids again.davet010 wrote:Noticeably quiet about Germany's home loss to England 'B', I note..
Solid victory for the Crew Zeppo. Must have been a big celebration afterwards:) I had completely forgotten that the MLS Cup was today until I happened upon it while channel surfing between NFL games. It's interesting how much more unorganized the MLS games are compared with their european counterparts. Is that just the style of soccer the US plays? Am I imagining things? Wish I had the time to watch more of their games...Zeppo wrote:Well here I am n LA for the Final, suckers!Should be a fun time, but I have to say these no-tailgate rules out here are weird. We'll see. Supposedly my seats are pretty low, so if you look for me I'll be the guy in the Metro jersey and the Redskins hat.

We have no business being here, so it's all gravy. Still, as it's our first final of any kind ever, I couldn't miss it.
MLS is more kickball than football.macsomjrr wrote:Solid victory for the Crew Zeppo. Sorry JRod, but this one always touches a nerve with me. People talk as if following the European model is some kind of magical elixir for good soccer. I have trouble seeing it being anything but a disaster for MLS.JRod wrote:MLS is more kickball than football.macsomjrr wrote:Solid victory for the Crew Zeppo. Plus the whole Americanization of MLS is not helping things. The conferences and playoff structure has got to go. As well as the league lasting as long as baseball.
If the MLS wants to go the next level it has to make itself more like the world model.
