CC gives free strat guide with purchase of this?Rodster wrote:All the reviews have either been a 10 or in the upper 90's. Decisions, decisions? Do I torrent the PC version or do I get the 360 version at Circuit City with a $10 GC and free strategy guide?
I'm actually leaning on the 360 ATM. I'm not sure if my PC will be able to run this game? Too bad CC doesn't have the same deal for the PS3.

Save often, game is much more deadly then Oblivion.
Once out of the vault the game really picks up, so much to do and the enemies will kick your arse if you're not ready for them.

Picked up the PC version...even though Best Buy was price matching at 51.99 for the 360. Allegedly the PC version looks a bit better...plus I like how games control on the PC a bit better...especially if there is any shooting involved. We'll see I suppose. Hopefully my rig can handle it...a la Far Cry 2.
Yeah I found that out real quick when I died a horrible death by something that was a cross between a dog and a huge armidillo.Danimal wrote:Save often, game is much more deadly then Oblivion.

Has anyone made it out of the vault without killing the overseer?
The PC version is the better looking of the three although the 360 version looks sweet. The PS3 version based on Gamespot's review looks really bad at times.dbdynsty25 wrote:Picked up the PC version...even though Best Buy was price matching at 51.99 for the 360. I'll start over and give that a try. I killed a guard and stole his clothes and baton but I was still detected. So I got pissed and beat up everyone I found including the overseer and his daughter.Danimal wrote:I didn't kill him, I just killed the guard and took the weapons before he could pick something up and he cowered in the corner.

I didn't even see the overseer. Took me quite awhile, in fact, to figure out how to equip weapons, and I found out(once I exited the damned vault) that I had accidentally given my pistol to a corpse while searching his body. Dammit.
This one's going to take me some time to wrap my head around. The city is incredible in it's destructive beauty. I had no idea that a radio tower would give me radiation poisoning, though...stood there for awhile trying to figure out why I would be able to pick a lock to get to the tower, only to have it poison me. Then it started getting dark and I got spotted by someone who fired a shot at me, so I ducked into a cabin and found a woman in there who spoke to me. Stole a knife, and went back out.
That's my experience so far. I'm confused, to be honest. Not sure what in the hell to do. I've never played Oblivion or anything like that. So what am I supposed to be expecting here? I think I'll like it alot, just don't know what I'm doing yet.

Is it a problem that i beat him to death? I heard the daughter yell "Oh my god, daddy!" but never actually saw her before exiting the vault.I'll start over and give that a try. I'm with Teal about feeling a little overwhelmed right now but i also had JUST entered the first village so i'm assuming it will become less confusing as i move ahead tonight.
To be honest this game wasn't even going to be a purchase for me but i'm glad i did. I think i'm really going to enjoy this one.
Also, for those who didn't buy the guide, like me, this should help. Some of you probably have found it but just in case. I'm not going to use it much right now but if i get stuck or can't figure something out i'll probably turn to it. The Side Quest piece is not ready yet....as you can tell.

I'm regretting getting the PC version only because I've had various lock ups.
For those overwhelmed it's going to be that way for a while. My advice when you get a quest stick to it. In the first town if you do the quest to diffues the bomb you'll get a house in that town.
So far I took on a s*** load of raiders in a super market and now I am following up on another quest with fire ants that actually spew fire, these things are a b*tch to kill.
they took my biggest complaint about Oblivion which were the leveled enemies and threw that out apparently so it's nice to get my ass kicked. Nothing like being in the middle of a subway station and the to find myself low on ammo and supplies.
