Whose bright idea was it to have the debates on the same day as 360 releases?

That was a fun night - I had a DDE at the end of the Boca-River game so I called it a night. My highlite --> Rob saying; "I want to reach through the f***in internet and wring their necks!" :)

Thanks for the invites guys. Good Boca-River rendition by Dsp'ers especially when Boca wins the game. :)

Once we switched back to club games I was still waiting for an invite forgetting that I had to go to the dressing room to meet you guys.

I'm not sure I get the club concept of this compared to NHL. Granted we only played one club game last night but the other team seemed much faster then the one we we're playing. Are we playing with the team of choice players abilities? Because I thought it was suppose to be an even playing field.

The non-club game we're really fun last night, my first one was lag hell but once everyone told me to switch to Tele camera it was fine.

Two things.

First, those guys were good. MACTEP, Zeppo and I played those same three guys again 3 v. 3 and they whipped our asses again.

Secondly, there were only 3 of them. Every human that you add to the mix adds exponentially to the difficulty. When you have 8 guys running around you're going to have more people out of position, more stray passes and poorer communication.

Dan you did pretty well . Scoring a few times.

Robs right. The more guys on the team the harder the game. Sardines come to mind.

Communication?.... Its not easy to talk over Zeppo's stream of consciousness. :P

If you're a newb like me or just new to the game I found an excellent thread over at OS (excuse me if this has been posted) the first message has zip files of the guide, but the rest of the messages have the guide in detail.

I learned more about the game reading that then I did the manual.

I just had so much fun last night, can't wait to play again.

We're not as desperately poor as we were several nights ago, but we're still struggling. A few lessons learned from the first week or so of playing club games:

1. When we have more than 5 players, we really should have only 1 any.

2. Don't freak out if you can't hear people in the dressing room. The communications issues tend to clear up in the matchup screen and game. There are still problems, but not as many as there are in the DR.

3. When moving from game to game in the DR, wait a few minutes. Some people hesitate to re-join, take a break to get a beer etc. No rush.

4. Stop trying for the home run balls all the time. We need to concentrate on building up a bit more regularly.

5. If you're locked as a SB, do not go forward willy-nilly. Make sure that the other 3 defenders are in position before overlapping, and let the any know that you're doing it.

6. Talk to each other! Let your teammates know when and where you're making runs, passing to or when you need help.

7. Be very careful when closing down the ball handler on defense. The A button is almost as big a gamble as the slide tackle and can very easily take you out of position. Just get in good position and use the "jostle" trigger.

8. Clear the ball on defense. "When in doubt, put it out!" The defenders in this version will do pretty amazing s*** to get to the ball for clearances, overhead kicks, sliding kicks etc. Don't be shy. Last year you could "clear aggressively" by using the long pass button instead. That's a much riskier proposition this year.

9. Do not dawdle on the ball in the midfield. One and two-touch stuff only, particularly against better teams. Defenders shut down fast and it takes a few moments to get a pass off, so that's a deadly combination. Even if it's just a short pass, we can make a 1-2 out of it. Also switch th play with long diagonal balls. Human SB's often get out of position and that can be exploited by long diagonal balls to the opposite wing.

10. Practice your one-v-one skills. We are consistently outmatched in the one on one battles. We're still learning, so this shoud get better, but it takes time and practice to learn the tricks necessary to win those battles.
Just some ideas.

PS Jared, I'll send an invite next time I'm on.

Rob, I agree with everything you are saying except about the one any. Drops still occur once in a while, and with the new red card ejection for anys, I think it's still safer to have two anys at all times just in case one disappears. I hate playing with a CPU any.

I think the main thing is we need to pass more quickly, all over the pitch, with simple passes to the nearest guy. One and two touch only no matter whether in the midfield or in the final third. A lot of those skip pass attempts just get intercepted by the teammate you're trying to skip, and it's too hard for him to handle. Stupid game just doesn't let that guy get out of the way of the ball. The game still seems to be all about quick passing. Let the ball do the work rather than running with it.

In the defensive third, the shoot-button clear is a must at all times. Safety first! We get greedy a lot, and give up way too many cheap turnovers when trying to make what seems like a safe pass that will create a counter. Problem is, that pass almost never gets out, and it's a turnover. Lag has a lot to do with that. Shoot-button hits the ball quicker and most often into a safe area. It's tough not to get greedy, but safety first should be the motto.

Also using not only diagonal long balls, but simple square balls at the back can work well to open up forward passing lanes. Sometimes that long ball doesn't seem to work and only hits it to the middle even if you hold it down forever, but mostly it works fine and switching the attack often is a real key to opening up the defending team, especially with a lot of humans on it. Of course, when we have a lot of guys, you have to remember to keep that width when we have the ball instead of getting clumped in the middle.

Home run balls over the top are nice as a change of pace, but I think more patience with quicker passing will open up big spaces and we get better chances when we string five or six or more passes together.

You'd be amazed how many times we hit the woodwork today! Just ridiculous. We played really well, but hit the woodwork instead of the net, and gave up really easy gift goals thanks to bad turnovers in our own end, many of them by me as I'm thinking "I'm sure I can get this nice easy pass off. . . oops, should've just shoot-button cleared it! Idiot I am!"

Stop giving away the easy turnovers in our own end, and keep it simple with lots of quick passing up front, and we should be fine in most games.

Oh BTW I changed the team to Villareal, and Jozy is a bit of a secret weapon! Dude is fast, and that NJ boy connection worked well. Feel free to go back to Croatia, if you must. :P

Actually, that was MACTEP's doing after playing against Croatia and seeing how good they were. We also played with Chelsea a bit last night, but I'm still scrubbing to get the stench off my hands LOL

I can't believe how many times we hit the damn wood work this morning! I tried playing defensive midfield and only ended up giving the ball away in even more dangerous positions. Think I'll stick to the wing where I'll cause the least damage till I get the hang of things again in BAP. :D

Best wishes,

General Warning : Anyone attempting any of that s*** from those videos when I am on the opposing team will see his ass getting kicked up and down the fied. :)

Seriously, I'll go down to six guys due to red cards if I have to, but I will not allow that playground s*** to happen on my pitch.

Have a nice day.

Edit:

Anyone tried a club game today? Servers were down last night, which meant OTP with randoms...a foul turn of events.
