Fifa09 club team(360)

Post by DrCosta »

with fifa09 a few weeks away, i thought we might as well have a team ready, deciding on which team will be used, since all teams and players will be ranked the same 85 i think, Im hoping for TFC obvious reasons but I will be anybody.

Position:
Forward- Dr Costa
Forward- Forenicd
CAM- Barking dogma
RW- MACTEPsporta
LW- CPZeppo
DMF- Rob Varek
RB- MacMan858
CB- ScoopBrady
CB- nyisles16
LB- mixdj1

extras: 10spro, danimal, Macca00, Naples39, XXXI4, dougb, Jared, TheTruth, JohnnytheSkin

a club team can have up to 50 people I think and you can play with more than 1 team as long as they have club members on them, so if we want 7 people with 1-2 any's and another team of less than 10 with an any its good to go, so we dont need 10 all the time if people cant show up

We could nominate teams and then do a poll for the top 5 or something. I don't care who we play as long as the uni's are good. :)

I'll play anywhere in the midfield, or SB.

If you'll take a rookie (see avatar) I'd be interested in this. I've never been into soccer before but my 11 year old daughter just started playing soccer and it's got me hooked. I ended up subscribing to Fox Soccer Channel and pre-ordered FIFA 09. 8O

Count me in. I didn't know FIFA was doing this too. I played midfield as a youngster but I'm comfortable with defending too. Hell, I'd play forward too but I prefer midfield or defense.

Since I'm fairly certain Rob has our defensive midfielder/Mascherano spot locked down I'll choose my other real-life football positions;

Centre Mid
Attacking Centre Mid
Right Mid
Left Bench

MactepSPORRRRTTAAAAA will be our franchise striker who doesn't pass. :)

I'm not nearly as excited about the FIFA club thing as the NHL version, since it appears that instead of creating our own characters from different player types, the game uses real player names and likenesses, but sets all the attributes to be the same. Part of the fun of FIFA is the variety and diversity of player abilities and the uniqueness of the real players. At least in NHL there is some variety in the player types. FIFA club sounds like it could be sort of lack luster.

But I could be wrong. Just having the basic Party functionality will be a very nice thing in the club games. I do hope that in regular OTP games with real players, it will allow us to set the number of total Xboxes for the game, as NHL does. That would be huge if we end up preferring real teams to the bland, everyone is equal club games.

And Rob in D-mid? Then where am I going to play? :P Seriously, he's just trying to lay the groundwork so that he can reasonably refuse to play center half. But just as he started Chester Burnett as a sniper, he knows he will have to accept his natural spot sooner or later.

Macca, I am deeply hurt. I happen to relish my passing ability and it is very painful to see that I am so underappreciated. :(

Zeppo, if it makes you feel better, we will still call you Hackenbush, regardless of the name on the shirt. :)

Here are my position suggestions. I also see Rob as a centre-back. Basically I just want him as far away from our opponent's goal as possible. Zeppo is a d-mid, centre-mid, or a full back. Forensic - striker, a-mid. Dogma - centre-back, full-back, centre-mid. Macca - bench (just for that comment), winger (if he is nice to me). Dr. Costa - striker, winger. ddtrane - can play anywhere he wants as long as he is in the same line as Rob, for entertainment purposes, if nothing else. Striker, or a-mid for myself.

Since all the players are rated the same, we will not need to pick formations based on the squad. Instead we should have 2-3 formations we are comfortable with, to accomodate who is online, and to better control the game. So, just for that purpose everyone should have at least two positions they can play.

I believe we should do very well in FIFA, but we need to come out of the gates strong. While other teams are running around in chaos chasing the ball, we must have a sound system in place, so that we can take advantage and rack up as many early wins as possible.

I'd be happy to play CB if nobody else will, but I don't think that's my best spot. Despite my notoriety as a tackling enthusiast, passing is the best part of my game. I'd wager that MACTEP wasted more good passes from me than he did from anyone else :)

My game really is a lot like Zeppo's beause we area also the two most aggressive long shooters. This is, I suspect, another reason that MACTEP would rather I be relegated to the basement so as not to interfere with his belief that all goals be scored from inside 10 yars

Maybe we should run a Bob Bradley 2 DMF formations of some sort?

I was about to post that I'll likely join, but now I'm reconsidering...

If FIFA 09 can hold my interest above PES (08 couldn't), I'd like to play anywhere in midfield, or failing that, forward.

I agree in principle, but hey you have to adapt to your personnel :)

It's either this or me and Hackenbush go 15 rounds for the right to play DMF LMAO

This would all be avoided if I could be allowed to thrive as an "any" where I belong...

You mean a Bob Bradley 8 central midfielders on the field at once formation? :D I'm a fan of the diamond, as you all know, and I'm convinced we are most successful in that formation no matter the players, situation, or score. But I like to try to be flexible. . . .

I really enjoy being a kind of fulcrum in the center circle, and helping out defensively from that central mid spot, but I also like to try to play elsewhere . . . once in a while.

I too am happy being a CB when the need arises, but I would prefer not to be stuck there game after game.

At least in club games, we'd never have to worry about Мастер being 'any!' :P

What's with you people today? Is today "wrongfully accuse MACTEP" day? I enjoy scoring from outside the box. Hell, I am known for my curler from 22 yards out in some circles. Rob calls it MACTEP special. Oh, how quickly they forget... 8)

Truth be told Zeppo and Rob can form a very solid centre midfield partnership. I'd even go as far as suggest they can both play any combination of DM-DM, CM-CM or DM-AM with great results. They have good understanding of the game, and one will always cover when the other one ventures forward. We can play with two DMs, there are a couple of formations that allow it. 4-2-2-2, 4-2-3-1, 3-5-1, 3-2-3-2, etc. It may get a little crowded there though, and since one of you is almost guaranteed to want to go forward, I think two centre-mids will suit you just fine.

Also, it's very possible that we will end up playing with 5-6 people on the team, if 10v10 becomes too much to handle, so the "any" position may just be as valuable as in 08.

EDIT:

OK there you go. See, 15 yards is not outside the box. The box is 18 yards. Sheesh.

Well s***, if I knew ANY was an option I would have put that at the top of my list!!!

Before I get relegated to the bench from the get-go I'd like to point out my performances in the DSP Euro 2008 tourney - failing that I would like to request a transfer to Real Madrid but am always thankful to 'Manchester', now I am off to go grease my hair some more and play for Portugal. :)

I tell you, those 11 days, that Europeans will be enjoying the game before we get a chance to unpack it, will be a long wait. That's why I keep stressing that we need to be able to play cohesively as a team from the go.

We played '08 for 11 months without ever being able to play cohesively. Now you want us to do that in 11 days???

Well that's the thing, isn't it? The Club games will most likely have no Any and only locked players, just like NHL.

Actually wait a minute. . . wait. . . .wait. . . .

I seem to remember an old interview with a dev talking about Club play, and there was one passage made up of a very tortured explanation of the Any, where if he had just said 'some players can just select 'any' and be good to go' it would have saved about 150 words. . .

So maybe in this FIFA version of the Club, Any is indeed allowed. If so, count myself and Rob as 'First Any' as we all firmly believe in the two-Any system. But don't let that stop the Indiana boys from Any-ing up as often as they like.

WTF. We'll see once it drops or soon before. What I do know is that I am unlikely to prefer Club games with their enforced lack of player personality or uniqueness over regular OTP games where we can do our usual by taking on the Man Us and Barças of the world with those 2nd and 3rd tier clubs, and kick ass anyway.

We'll see.

Whatever the case, it must be stated that EA is stepping up to the plate with True Online Mutliplayer for sports games, something we've sorely missed since the days of Rivals. Now if only Tiburon could get the memo. Or at least a GameFly account so they can try out games like Halo 2 or 3 or ShadowRun or others that use some kind of Party system.

Or perhaps an EA Sports game that isn't gridiron football.

:P

Oh yeah, and Costa, if you're thinking I will be happy being in a TFC shirt, well my friend, as a charter MetroStar season ticket holder. . . . it ain't gonna happen! 8)

We've got the entire world of football to choose from. We are not going with a freaking MLS team. :)
