This is hopelessly nerdy, but should we elect a "captain" to set up the team and maybe set up poll for which kit etc.?

I'm just trying to avoid 5 of us getting the game and setting up 5 different clubs LOL

I am really sad to hear that you don't create your own players for Club play. I was raring to debut my midfielder, Cinnamon Twat.

Nevertheless, I will be up for this.

Tell me about it, I'm like a crack fiend trying to get a hit - I've called 3 Best Buys, 2 Futureshops and even lowered myself to call EB/Gamestop. No dice.

I nominate MACTEP for Captain so when we lose I can blame him.

Do we want a certain color scheme? Something traditional? Gaudy? I'm more than happy to dig up something from my mental database of obscure club kits, to fulfill the DSP club needs.

I think priority no. 1 is picking a scheme that is "safe" in case we don't properly negotiate the uniforms in the pre-game. Way too many games in '08 had to be killed because we ended up with blue v. blue etc. Picking a side with two distinctive kits would make things easier.

I pre-ordered from Gamestop and haven't received my automated call yet so I don't expect to see it in stock until tomorrow.

Instead of the game which comes out tomorrow I am told, I ended up with Elmo Live for my little one. :? There goes another $60.

About the uniforms as long as they're not the same as the ones we're using in NHL 09. :)

I'd hate to have seen the look on my face when the clerk at EB games said that they wouldn't have the game until tomorrow! :x

Yes, I too have no life and no FIFA 09.

Best wishes,

Whoever sets it up just needs to send out the club invites, and then can set co-captains who can then also send out further invites. I think it's pretty straightforward.

I may not get much time early on tomorrow night. I might have a late-ish day, and then may meet up with friends to watch our young B-team take on the Trini-boys. But it looks like a late-ish call time for Thursday, so I may be able to play pretty late into the early AM hours. Maybe.

I'm still not convinced that the 'everyone is the same' club style games will be as fun for me as the traditional OTP, where we can play B and C-level clubs against the Man Us and AC Milans out there, but we'll see. I do know that if we have to choose a permanent kit rather than choosing a team before each game, that I will likely change that choice from time to time, just to keep it fresh. Know that if we are an MLS club, there are a very select few clubs that I would find palatable.

I am going to be home in the afternoon, and barring something unfortunate, I can set the club up for us. I am thinking a trivial DSP United will do for the name of the team, yes?

I also think that the team we end up picking should be an unknown club team, or a national team that we can reach consensus on. I don't see us agreeing on a club team, unless everyone is evenly detached from it. And believe me, I would have loved for it to be AC Milan, but I know it will be vetoed very fast. So, unknown team it is. The only downside is that we will have to carry those poor chaps' names on our back. The other alternative is a national team. I wouldn't be opposed to USA, but I have a feeling there will be a tonn of those.

Let me know what you think.

Zeppo doesn't get a vote. He'll vote for some Swiss 3rd division side. :D

I'm hoping to have it by today (c'mon TRU!) and I'm up for any team. I'm more into the comraderie than what team we play as. If I can handle those sweaters we wear for the Ice Dragons I can handle any kit you throw my way.

With so many good games on the way out, I am on the fence with this one. If I do join, failing a late acceptance of ACM's kits , I think Hull's new shirts are pretty striking:

I am a huge fan of yellow and black. Takes me back to my time with Borussia Dortmund in the DSP WE League.

Some ideas for distinct kits:

Parma
Lens
Kaizer Chiefs
Juventude
Panathiakos

Take a look around at them and let me know your thoughts. I'll set up the league as soon as we have a bit of consensus.

Don't wait, Rob. If it's like NHL you can change unis and even the team name whenever you like. Just get it set up and send out the invites. Unless something ends up being insanely perfect, i'm all for changing the kit from time to time.

It's done. MACTEP & I set it up with R.C. Deportivo for now. They have 3 distinctive strips that should do the trick.

Invites to DSP United are going out, but they only work for people who have logged into FIFA '09. Let me or MACTEP know when you do and we'll invite.

I'm heading back from a meeting now and I probably won't be on until post-debate. MACTEP can send out invites though, and he'll be on. He should also make at least one more person GM so that they can send out invites as well.
