online options initial impressions
Right Away i was WOWED by the fact that while I'm sitting in a lobby there is a "live" sports ticker updating you on today's games, scores, etc... for real life games. Fuggin Cool IMO.
Online Records that are kept include:
- Record
- Batting Average
- Slugging Percentage
- On Base Percentage
- ERA
- Streak
- Disconnects
Haven't played online yet, but the interface is very VERY nice.

My first impressions are really good. I am winning my first game 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th Phillies vs. Pirates. I haven't seen any walks yet, but PLENTY of balls from both sides. I much prefer this batter/pitcher interface to MVP...at least for now. So far, so good.
Is there any way to have the camera on defense stop following the ball? Maybe that is what the guy is complaining about at OS. I haven't seen any freezes yet.

WCO,
I'll get back to your requests in a minute....
Sportdan,
I've walked batters while not trying to. maybe when I get the pitching down better this won't be the case but right now I'm giving up walks. I love the pitching interface.. but I think a combination of this with mvp would be killer. I like the meter pitching and how fatigue effects the size of the accuracy zone.. but I love how in MLB you aim at where you want the pitch to start not finish. This makes painting pitches very difficult.. unlike in MVP.
Also, I jumped right in where the pitching icon is off (vice fade). Makes it tough to put it where you want it. Hell, at times time I don't even come close to where I wanted the pitch to be. Good stuff.

OK. I understand the freezing comment. The camera follows the ball. So on a long fly ball the camera zooms in on the outfielder. If he is in the correct position to catch the ball the animation kicks in and you are locked in for a couple seconds. Not *that* big of a deal, but annoying to me. Can I turn this off? I would like something more like MVP's aerial view.
I am loving the B/P interface more and more.

i was extremely happy too find the eb online copy sitting inside my screen door early tis morning
game is a steal considering only 39 dollars and you get a free baseball cap with it....even if its only the rookie series...still makes it worth it too everyone too at least give it a try
game is silky smooth....controls even better than last years which i thought felt great as is...this improves quite a bit over that version very high heat feel too it...for me anyways
tons of new animation which is a major plus but not really the decidng factor in my purchase as i was sold on the gameplay as it was now its only better
lot of stuff in the menu i havent even looked through it all
i played some games with my reds n devil rays vs random opponents and was very pleased with statistical outcomes....
i need to head to work in 20 minutes but i will drop some more impreesions tonight that is unless everyone here as already gotten there own copy which by the way
WOULD NOT BE A BAD IDEA
support a game/series thats putting forth the effort
im very happy with my decision too pre purchase as this is has lived up to my expectations as the baseball game for me this season and the only one i was willing too drop coin on

I walked a batter with Paul Wilson! Woo hoo
I played 6 innings until my daughter demanded the TV. So far so good. I'll say this -- if all you do is nibble the corners you WILL walk batters in this game. If you recall what we were discussing in the MVP thread re: balls not going precisely where you aim -- here ya go. I was trying to nick corners with Wilson and he threw one damn near in the dirt. Hopefully I can play more this afternoon but the 6 innings I played of MLB was a lot of fun.
I hate the friggn PS2 though.

Dust it off. Tune it up Bill. Sounds like you have some more detailed impressions to write in the coming days. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the PS2 either....what with the slow loading times and inferior graphics. Actually, MVP ran very loud on my Xbox. It was rather distracting at times.
