Please Post MLB 2005 Impressions
Guys, please post as soon as you can. I know it's early, but figured I'd start this post. I can't wait to hear what you guys have to say about this.
I am now disgusted with MVP. After trying to like it, too many bad AI moves and the official scoring has been terrible. For example, I hit a foul ball with A-Rod which was caught by the first baseman. It was announced as a Homerun, and the fireworks went off. The run wasn't counted (at least) and the out was, yet the boxscore showed A-Rod with a HR. There is no excuse for that. Sorry for my rant!!
Now, I wait patiently for the MLB 2005 impressions. Thanks all.

Ok, I got it and this is a very brief look at it so far. First of all, the game is loaded with options and I love the manual...it looks like a newspaper.
On to the game. The game is a little dark for my liking, but I can get used to it. The interface is clean and accessible so I went straight into quick game.
The Marlins batted around me in the first mostly because I was unfamiliar with the controls. Animations are top notch as advertised and I think the players models are fine too. One thing...players do not just disappear when they strike out...my guy turned and walked back to the dugout. Pitching is a little tougher than MVP and pitches aren't as precise either. This is a good thing. You can turn all the visible options off as well.
Hitting so far seems ok although against Josh Beckett I started off with 2 singles and then Pujols jacked one. Right now I'm down 6-3 in the 3rd and I have got to meet someone for lunch, but I'll play and post more when I get back.
Double plays feel so good in this game and the animations kick ass.
The only thing I've seen that I don't like is it appears that when you field the ball and select the base you're going to throw it to there is a slight hesitation before he gets the ball off. That may be corrected by preloading though so I don't know.
More later.

One more quick thing and I have to leave.
I love the batting interface. It starts out by presenting you with a strike zone filled with hot and cold areas. That fades away when the pitcher selects his pitch. Then all you are left with is a blank strike zone and then that goes away when the pitcher starts his delivery. Really neat.
The game does have a good feel to it and I'm liking it so far.
You also get a code for a free New Era hat in the box so that's cool, too.

I think the woody is deserved...I just can't say enough about the double plays...they are the shiznit.dbdynsty25 wrote:If it's like last year, you can preload throws. Plus they are pressure sensative so that you can throw harder if you press harder. Damn...I've got a woody for this game this afternoon...I'm definitely bailin' out of work early today.

I would agree that the game has a real good feel to it and it played supersmooth. Seriously I was totally an MVP man all the way but I might just swing on the other side of the fence this time around.Badgun wrote:One more quick thing and I have to leave.

Swinging to the other side? LOL...joining the other team eh? Won't your girl be offended?
BTW Tjung...good to see you're actually giving other games a chance this year...last year you were DIE HARD MVP all the way. Glad to hear MLB is as smooth as advertised. The stuttering in MVP gives me epilepsy.

I gave all the other games a chance last year but in the end I had the most fun with MVP and whatever game is the most fun this year will be my game of choice.dbdynsty25 wrote:Swinging to the other side? LOL...joining the other team eh? Won't your girl be offended?

Attaboy, Leebo. Superstars sometimes do their best work while under the weather. Now go out, play and get back here with those impressions!Leebo33 wrote:I just picked it up at EB while running some errands. My wife and I are both pretty sick, but I try to get a game in or two while it is her turn to sleep. Anything to help out the ballclub...

Just picked it up from EB. Headed to coors right now. Impressions after the game.
**EDIT**
Love the intro to the game and how the camera pans around the stadium and the player introductions. So far presentation is slick.
First batter grounds to helton
K the second batter swinging at a sinker out of the zone
hammonds knocks a triple on me, but problem was my lack of knowing controls. Ball physics off the wall much better than those in MVP. The ball actually bounced of the wall instead of sticking to it and rolling along it if you know what i mean.
