I'm a die hard Pats fan which includes being a season ticket holder. It's a painful morning here but kudos to the Giants. They were better prepared and they deserved to win. In 18 games the Pats were the aggressor and the team with the confidence. Last night they looked lost and completely outcoached. They had one thing to gameplan for in two weeks and that was the major matchup problem with the Giants D-line and they did nothing. The play calls were terrible, the protection plan was terrible, and as a result the Giants made Brady look pedestrian. And while i love having Belichick on my teams' sideline, his arrogance cost them when he didn't kick the FG on 4th and 13. Outside of potentially making it a tie game late (granted who knows what would have happened), he basically told Gostkowski that he had no confidence in him. If Brady drives them down in the last :35 and puts them in range does anyone think this kid makes that kick anyway after that?? Horrible decision.
Having said all of that, to say Brady isn't one of the best ever is moronic. Regardless of everything said above, regardless of being beaten into the ground thanks to his pathetic O-line, he drove the team down late in the game to put them ahead. He may have not looked like the 50 TD pass QB from this year, but in crunch time he did his job, the defense let him down. It just seemed storybook. Manning breaking out of the grasp of two Patriots, David Tyree making arguably one of the greatest catches in Super Bowl history, Brandon Jacobs reaching out on 4th and 1. It almost felt like it was written to go that way.
Again, i'm damn proud of the way the season went and while i'm depressed today i can appreciate that the Giants just were the better team last night for 60 minutes.
Pitchers and catchers report when again???
