Right.

Can't remember who was the closer when Rivera first came up and became the setup man. Was it Gossage or was that way before Rivera?

What the H.E. double hockey sticks is going on with CC? The next game is going to feature Schilling and Carmona which leads me to think that with the sox playing at home with that matchup they will probably push this series to 3-3. I mean, who can beat the legendary bloody sock? Sorry, that should have been "bloody" sock.

The momentum shifts back to Boston. Cleveland better do something smarter than asking Beckett's EX to sing the NA.

From our seats in the upper deck we could see they had a SWAT team's truck parked outside the ballpark. I guess they were expecting quite a celebration if the Tribe had pulled it off. The truck pulled away in the ninth inning.

The line of the night came from a guy sitting behind us, totally dejected and in a deadpan tone... "Here comes Papelbon, there goes the SWAT team. I guess it's over." :(

As a Rockie fan, I'm really pulling for a Boston win tomorrow evening. Not to take anything away from Cleveland, but the prestige of the WS would be lost if Colorado and Cleveland faced off.

Co. is just as much the problem in that as Cleveland would be. it's a shame, but it's reality. Nobody outside of Denver or Cleveland would watch the WS, let alone care about it if Boston doesn't get in.

I'm a pads fan and I agree for most fans it won't be as exciting but either way I'm excited to see if the Rockies streak continues into the WS.

ps. Cool story on peyton manning and todd helton's former career as teammates at UT over at MLB.com http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd ... p&c_id=mlb

As a Tribe fan, I wouldn't give a rats a$$ who I was playing,or who watches it.
And if it couldn't get any worse for the Tribe, ESPN News is reporting that Paul Byrd bought HGH between 02-05. I don't condone cheating, but the timing of this is certainly suspect. At this time,no other details.
Ahh, the life of a Cleveland fan, the stage is set for yet another collapse, yet I'll be watching to the end,be it bitter or sweet :?

I can say what I said ONLY because we're in. Do think I'd think differently if my team was still fighting to get in? Of course I would. Like you I wouldn't give a rats ass either as to who we'd play as long as we got to play. Fortunately I have the luxury of sitting back and waiting to see who it is that we'll get to play. :)

As a Sox fan i don't want to be a homer, but am the only one who saw that deer in the headlights look from every Indian last night--perhaps except V-Mart. After exuding confidence in games 2,3 and 4, i got the impression that they almost felt this thing was over as soon as they boarded the bus after game 5. I have the utmost respect for Cleveland (sans apparently Paul Byrd now 8O) and should they win, good for them, but they just seemed out of sorts last night.

Oh, and it can't help that they got waxed by 6 through 9 in the Sox lineup. If those bats have been awakened this lineup is going to be trouble for Westbrook tonight. Of course Dice-K doesn't exactly fill me with confidence either but.....

Agree with you totally Rally. If the Indians don't score first tonight, then I'd say it's time to bring the Rockies to Boston for game 1. The Indians need to put some runs on the board fast, and Hafner needs to get his act together.

Yeah, Hafner was horrible. He looked like a National League pitcher in the batter's box the whole series.

But to me CC and Fausto were the biggest disappointments. I thought for sure this was finally the year we win it all, mostly because of those two. Shows what I know. :(

Any predictions on the series?

I'm looking forward to seeing this Rockies team everyone's raving about. I haven't seen much of them yet. It'll be interesting to see what effect that long layoff has on them. I gotta go with the Red Sox though, they seem too tough.

Either way, I hope it goes seven games.

My heart says the Rox in 7, but the head says the Sox in 6.

The Rockies run should go down as one of the best baseball stories of all time. Hard to believe they were in 4th place with just 2 weeks to go.

Being in a National League city, I don't see the AL as much. Even with limited exposure I'm sick of the Red Sox. I don't know how fans in other AL cities can stand it.

The schedule for the playoffs has been terrible. Teams get 1 day off a week all through the summer. Once the playoffs start they decide to drag it out by having way too many days off. We should be watching Game 5 of the WS by now, not game 1.

Apparently FOX intentionally dragged it out an extra half a week this year. They wanted more games (especially Games 1 and 7) during the middle of the week and less games on the weekend, so they wouldn't be going up against football as much on the weekends, so they could get a bigger audience.

Kinda makes sense from their point-of-view, but man, baseball in November seems a bit much (which is what we'll have if it goes seven games).

Does anybody think the Rockies have a chance in this series? With Beckett's show stopping performance tonight, Schilling tomorrow (against who???), and I'm guessing Dice-K on Sat it's looking like going to be clean sweep this year unless Wakefield's replacement gets bombed on and the Rockies push it 5 games.

...should've been the Padres anyway:)

Naaw, Rockies will rebound. They won't win the series but I expect them to show more character next game. The long break has hurt them, but one thing for sure, if the top hitters in Bos continue to pound that baseball, it's light out sooner rather than later.

Baseball in November and the Super Bowl in Febuary. It's all about TV and not the sport anymore.

Looks like 8 days killed the Rockies. Yes Beckett was on but what would have happened in the Rockies had just 3 days after sweeping the D-Backs. Game 1 would have been much more exciting if two hot teams played.

In my case it backfired on them. Too much time off between games is killing my enthusiasm for the playoffs. I checked in 4-5 times for about 2 minutes each just to see what was going on. Had it been close in the 7th I may have stuck around.

I have a feeling the ratings for the WS are going to be pretty low.

Wow! The sox just POUNDED the ball!! Everything was frozen rope to the gaps....no bloopers here :) I don't recall seeing more balls ringing off the green monster in 1 game in a long time. It was a boring game, but a great hitting clinic.

I hope the Rockies make a series out of it, but I fear the Sox are just too potent. Look at that lineup! You get past Papi & Ramirez and then you got Lowell. Best #1-6 lineup in the bigs.
