MLB Season discussion

Is it that time already? Not much going on with the Cardinals right now as their pitching has been quite good in ST. We all know that means nothing, but it's nice to see this new rotation doing well.

Can't wait to turn the game on Sunday vs the Mets - Glavine vs Carpenter.

I have tickets for Tuesday's game - I hope Wainright is pitching, but I think it's Kip Wells. I also think it's World Series ring replica night.. should be neat.

It's BASEBALL time!!!

Barry Bonds starts his 15th season in SF. Man, that makes me feel old.

72 and sunny is the forecast in Philly for the Braves/Phillies opener. Doesn't get much better than that. :)

It's okay, the cold weather will be good for the Tribe, it'll help prepare them for those games they'll be playing in late October. :D

The Pirates suck and are most likely destined for another 90 loss season. However, it only took 83 wins to take the division last year and I believe the Pirates were only 5 games off the leader counting games played after April. They also had their first winning half-season in over a decade. I doubt Sanchez will win the batting title again, but LaRoche may help the offense and the young starting pitchers have another year under their belts. If they can avoid the disastrous start this year they may have enough confidence to stay competitive into August for a change.

Leebo...have a little faith in LaRoche...that guy has significantly improved each year in the majors. He will surprise you...especially in the 2nd half of the year. The guy is a beast after the break.

I'll be taking my So Cal Baseball Trip soon. Got tickets already for Dodgers Stadium and Petco, and will try to see if I can squeeze in an Angels game in there.

Oh, I am very excited about LaRoche. For the first time since Bonds/Bonilla the Pirates will have two legitimate power hitters in the lineup. The team also has more young promising pitchers than when they started their last good run in 1988. I'm just not sure the team is ready to contend this year and there is a *ton* of pressure on LaRoche to perform.

Very few teams have the offensive power of the Jays, but it'll be the same old song for TOR. It all depends on how consistent the bullpen is this year and the rotation guys starting from the second starter to the fifth. At least no one can doubt what R. Halladay can do.

BOS finished third behind the Yankees and Jays last year but I think they will do some damage in the East.

Ahhh...opening day. The greatest day of the year when you get to take the day off work. And especially great when the Braves reward you with a win.

Going a little off topic but I got the 5 day free trial for mlb.tv.

With a wired connection, the thing is pretty good. The slower 400k speed has better resolution than the 700k speed for some reason.

But here's my problem, wireless. When I'm on a wireless connection, the thing has to buffer about every 10 seconds. It's unwatchable. I have a pretty good wireless connection too, over 1000 kpbs. Any solution to this? If it's this bad wireless, I may up canceling after my 5 days are up.

Sorry Inuyasha not sure how to solve that one. I'm wireless at home and my DSL provides a decent connection with minimal slowdown (for me it is watchable). I haven't tried out the six games at once option yet with teh MLB.com TV Mosaic. I'm running this on a Macbook Pro, OSX 10.4.9.

How about Ben Sheets shutting down the LADs today!?! Dude pitched nine solid innings and looked like his usual self out there. Can't wait for the Zito, Peavy match-up tomorrow at Giants Stadium. Is Zito worth those big bucks, if anything he better show it tomorrow against the pads as he'll be seeing that line-up a bunch this season.

Well I logged back on for the night games and no issues. I wonder if there were a lot of people watching the afternoon games? So far I absolutely love this thing. I got premium as well but the feed on the regular screen is a lot smoother for me than the mosaic screen. But mosaic is nice to jump around games without leaving the browser.

I think I'm gonna stick with this thing all year.

Unless Zito maintains his absurd ability to strand runners, there's no way he's worth the bucks. At least he went from one pitcher's park to a better one, so his decline will probably be masked a bit, even though the other Barry won't do him any favors with his defense. His contract will make Johan Santana even more difficult to sign for the Twins though.

Opening Day is one of the best days of the year.

Jays spoiled the Tigers opener as T. Glaus brings in the winning run and B. J Ryan closes the door.

It only took about 5 mins into the new season before they started booing Arod at the Stadium. 10 more mins before they booed him for a second time after striking out with runners on first and second. By the end of the day he was getting the curtain call treatment. What a strange and dysfunctional relationship we Yankee fans have with him...

I really wish the A-Rod story would just go away. The guy won a f*cking MVP for the Yankees and was again one of the top offensive players in the league last year. All of the "True Yankee" bullsh*t drives me insane. Considering the Rangers are still picking up a decent chunk of his salary, he's a bargain for the Yankees.

Yeah, the guy seems to be a little strange, but he's a hell of a ballplayer.
