Isn't that becoming standard operating procedure in this day and age? Another pathetic issue....IMO.

That's funny Jack :D

Seriously though, I HATE it when these things start to divide along racial lines. I spoke to two black co-workers this morning and they were both very defensive of Vick. One called it a "witch hunt" and the other claimed the witnesses were just other convincts that made deals to give Vick up, in order to reduce their own sentences. On the flip side, the white folks I spoke with all were anti-Vick and didn't defend his actions at all. Personally, I could care less if he was black as coal or white as Casper or green as PK's Irish behind :D , I am taking the side of these abused, tortured, helpless dogs. The only good that might come of all this, is that any other athletes currently involved in this dispicable activity will close up their operations.

I remember being at a Falcons game right after Vick was drafted and hearing fans cheer when Chandler got hurt. If I recall correctly Shawn Jefferson's family was also part of cheering for Chandler to get hurt. I believe that was racial.

I hate it as well brother. It makes me sick. Wrong is wrong. It's like the OJ trial. I saw a documentary on HBO where they showed blacks cheering the verdict. f*** the Brown and Goldman families and the fact their children were butchered. The DNA evidence had OJ dead to rights. But,blacks have a history of being mistreated in LA and OJ getting off was making all the wrongs right. What bullshit!

No matter his color,Vick is a dick. He has it all. Free education, millions in endorsements,NFL career, and he chooses to do this as a hobby. I hope he doesn't have kids.

Pretty sad, but I'm sure this happens more than we like to think.

Btw, how do you explain Martha Stewart? Is she black?

If ATL was dumb enough to start Vick while this is going-on, imagine the road games. For some reason I see fans throwing stuffed animals onto the field. Perhaps a little red food coloring for added effect?

I checked, they are not playing @ Cleveland, but just imagine the "Dog Pound"??? Oh boy...

I would like to see him play again, just so long as he suffers an agonizingly painful, career ending injury while the crowd cheers and laughs.

there seems to be a polarizing debate going on around here (Atlanta area)
where people are taking these sides:

-side #1) "innocent until proven guilty"......everything should remain "as-is" until Vick's day(s) in court.

-side #2) "the evidence is overwhelming".....at the very least he sponsored this stuff by owning the property. He knew what was going on and deserves to be suspended immediately.

This article by Atlanta sports columnist Jeff Schulz sums up my opinion perfectly:

It's like Chris Rock once said, "Where's my O.J. prize?"

Vick is entitled to go through the legal process like everyone else. But to act like the frenzy over this case is because he's black is pretty ridiculous. The frenzy is because it was done to dogs. Americans love dogs for the most part, and we are often more appalled by cruelty to man's best friend than to the guy or gal holding the leash.

It reminds me of the first time I saw Independence Day. During the scene where a fireball shoots through the Lincoln Tunnel, Scraps the Wonder Dog is trying to outrun it. The flames are pulverizing everyone in their cars, but the canine makes it to safety at the last minute. Everyone in the movie theater cheered, even though a whole tunnel of people just got flame broiled. If they had killed the dog and not the people, the audience would have probably ripped the screen apart.

That's why people are so upset about this case.

True. I don't think you're suggesting this, but that fact also does not give him the unalienable right to play in the NFL until his case is tried.

Playing in the NFL is a privilege, not a right. The NFL and Falcons owner Blank have the right to suspend Vick for wearing obnoxious aftershave, if they choose.

Goodell SHOULD suspend Vick until this case is tried. It will be a horrible distraction for the NFL and the Falcons if this guy actually goes on the road this year with the team. A media circus, and fan lunacy that could get ugly.

Pacman Jones never was convicted, yet Goodell suspended him. Sure, Vick apologists will trot out that Pacman had 10 run-ins with the law. Well, this isn't Ron Mexico's first brush with the law, either, and this FEDERAL indictment is so appalling that it's in the best interest of the NFL, the Falcons and Mike Vick to put his ass on a shelf NOW until he's either exonerated or convicted.

The NFL and Falcons owe Mike Vick nothing.

Take care,
PK

We were in the back yard an hour ago swimming in the kiddie pool with our little boy. Our dog was barking repeatedly for us to throw a ball....my wife...who knows nothing much about sports said..."Quiet, or I'm going to send you to Michael Vick Doggy Camp".

Arrghh Jimmy!

Oh, not at all, that f***er needs to grab some suspension pine for a while. This is a terrible set of accusations and it clearly happened on his property. The league has every right to keep him from playing as part of the conduct policy. I just meant that he's entitled to being legally innocent until proven guilty of the criminal charges.

If he is guilty, I hope he actually gets jail time. I'm not overly sentimental about animals but to do what they are accused of doing is barbaric.

I've been avoiding the extensive coverage, so this may be old news to some, but a report published today states that two of Vick's co-defendants' plea bargains claim that Vick helped to kill 8 dogs. From the article:

"Phillips and Peace each told investigators that Vick participated in killing the dogs, which were hung or drowned, and that the animals 'died as a result of the collective efforts' of the trio."

You can view the court docs here:
http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/ye ... vick1.html

Can we start calling him "Sick Vick" yet?
