Blue Jays are on a mini roll now as finally injured people are starting to come back, but what's most encouraging is that 3 of the last four wins have been SO's. Back to .500 baseball.

Man, they have been DEALIN' at the Jake this week!!!!!!!

The last two nights the top 4 starters in wins in the AL have pitched... Tuesday Dice-K beat CC 1-0, last night Carmona beat Beckett 1-0!!!

I was at the game last night... tons of Red Sox fans in town all week... crazy atmosphere at the ballpark... GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!

I'm just glad that the Yanks didn't go down without a fight. But I really can't wait to see Phil Hughes pitch again, which should be in a couple of weeks. I was watching his last MLB game against the Rangers where he no-hit them through 6 1/3 innings before pulling his hammy. A cryin' shame as his stuff was electric that night.

How many teams has he played for already? A veteran journeyman for sure.

Not as many as you think...seeing as how he's been on the same team 3 times now...lol. But yeah...SF, LA, ChiC, ChiW, TX, CLE (3 times), ATL, NYY, PHI, PIT and HOU...thats a few teams.

Just watched the press conference by the Dr. who did Utley's surgery. He said Utley will be back in 3-4 weeks. That is a bit of good news. Last night 4-6 weeks was the number I was hearing. Brett Myers was activated today which is F'N HUGE. Phils got Iguchi from the White Sox for a minor leaguer...Rich Dubee's (Phils pitching coach) son. Iguchi and Nunez should be sufficient until Chase gets back. By mid Aug. maybe the Phils can still be in it and, FINALLY, have the team they are going to need to head to the finish line. I am not as depressed as I was yesterday...still depressed but not as depressed.

I'm not quite sure how much I like Teixeira going to the Braves for their two best prospects, Saltalmacchia & Andrus, along with a couple pitchers. Hmmm...will Tex hit in Atlanta like he did in the hitters park in Arlington? Seems like it could be a year and a half rental anyway since Tex is arbitration eligible next year and will become a free agent after. And Boras is his agent...so you can bet he won't be cheap for the Braves to retain.

I thought I heard someone say the Braves had a decent chance at signing him long-term, since he went to Georgia Tech, he likes it there.

And if those two "best prospects" are anything like that "top Braves prospect" the Tribe wound up with last year, I wouldn't worry too much about giving them up. Last I heard, Marte was hitting like .250 down in Buffalo. :(

Yeah...in the last 10 years or so, the only TOP PROSPECTS that the Braves have regretted dealing are Jason Schmidt and Adam Wainwright. The rest of em...you can have em. LOL.

The Braves will probably be able to sign him long term if Andruw leaves this offseason. There are also rumors that Liberty Media (the owner of the Braves) will raise the payroll 10-15 million, which would make it feasible to sign both. Plus, Hampton's 15+ million comes off the books after next season. So there is some room in the budget. Chipper and Smoltz will also be coming off the books in the next two years as well. Gonna be a lot of money available eventually in the ATL.

The WTF award for the trade deadline goes to the Pirates.

They traded for Matt Morris and the rumor is that the Giants aren't picking up any of his salary next year. Nothing like having 20% of your low payroll being taken up by a #4/5 pitcher. Doesn't look like the Giants got much in return, but what does Pittsburgh have to gain from one year of Matt Morris at ~$14mm?

Yeah Dave...that was the weirdest trade of the day.

At least the Braves helped with their deficiencies. Teixeira, Dotel and a couple of Lefty Relievers. Can't complain too much about the Braves transactions. It's the first time in years that they've been buyers at the deadline. Something tells me Chipper and Smoltz had something to do with that.

With BOS getting E. Gagne, you can forget the Jays and NYY catching up to them in the regular season. If he remains healthy, Bosox fans are for a treat in the playoffs and maybe WS.

If any of you watched the Braves/Mets game this morning you witnessed one hellova game.

Mets down 4 in the bottom of the 9th...a Wright two run homer cuts the lead to one (after a fielders choice RBI by Castilla). The Delgado comes up and homers (so he thought) to left where Willie Harris robs it to save the game for the Braves. It was close, but it damn sure looked like it would go out if he didn't catch it. All in all another series win for the Braves over the Mets. Now if only they would lose to some other teams so the Braves could catch them. Geeze.

Rick Ankiel was called up to the bigs today. He'll bat second and play right field.

Speizo has been put on the restricted list with a substance abuse problem. What's with the Cards this year? Alcohol and drugs oh my.

1-4 with a pop out, 2 ks, and a three run dinger.

Thought I read that Ankiel was leading the PCL (AAA) in HRs prior to his call-up. Hopefully his second MLB career works out for him, he's had to work his tail off to get back to the show.

He was hitting around .272 with 32 homeruns. I don't think his on base percentage was that great, because he struck out a lot.

Still, what an incredible comeback story for the kid. To think it's been seven years since came in to the majors. Hopefully, he can flourish in the big leagues.

This was the best Cardinal moment of the year.

It was cool and all, for Ankiel, but the game was already won with the pitching they had tonight.

Best moment (team) for me was the 6-7 comeback win over the Brewers on 7/28, after going down 6-0 early in the game and Ludwick hitting a walk off game winning single to cap the 3-run 9th.

The Braves bullpen gives me more near heart attacks than anything. Its not near as bad as last year, but there are still moments.

They were actually really good when they still had Mike Gonzalez in the pen. As soon as he went down for the year they turned to sh*t. It's almost like Soriano has this huge weight on his shoulders when he goes out there. Gonzalez took some pressure off him I guess. And Wickman has been scary all year. I have a feeling that will still be their undoing. Cox shouldn't have taken Moylan out today after only 5 pitches to get through the 8th inning. He's by far the most dependable guy out there right now.
